Center Statue

"Come on Attie. I want to go to the statue now. I don't want to wait until later," Felix whines by the door.

I hold my finger up, "Wait a minute. I need to finish packing my bag."

Everyone in the city knows the legend of the center statue. They say that person could never find their soulmate, so they froze waiting for them. Apparently, if you touch the body of the statue it will come to life if you are their soulmate. I think it's a rather sweet legend.

I have never touched the statue, which is odd for a twenty-three year old who has lived in the city for their whole live. I've always been too scared to touch it, but Felix has convinced me.

Felix and I have been best friends ever since he moved in next to me a few months ago. It seems like we have always known each other, even if it sounds cliché.

"Atlas, please hurry. It's going to rain soon and I don't want to be caught up in it," he pauses, "but if it rains it won't be as crowded and the rain would make a pretty picture. Don't you think the statue would look good in rain?"

I shrug, "It should. Rain picture always have a certain aura to them." I put my camera into my bag and zip it up, "I'm ready. Since you want to wait for the rain, do you want to stop and grab a coffee?"

He nods vigorously and holds the door open for me. Coffee does sound good. It's been chilly lately, which is odd for September.
