A Much Higher Threat

As the Ghost cuddled Sam, he twitched and murmured in a scared tone as he slept. While his body was getting all the rest it so desperately needed, his mind was far from being asleep.

Within his dream, if you could call it a "dream", Greater Ottawa was burning. As he rushed through the burning streets, he came upon Archie, Sam, and all of his friends stacked in one large mound of bodies, their blood staining the streets as a being hovered above them.

"Mankind... should've never been allowed to live in our world. You are a pitifully useless wrench in our plans which had no real impact. Are we to believe you were the best thing to stop us from obliterating humanity? Surely you simple creatures aren't so stupid. Perhaps you are, after all, you can't even speak."

However, the Grey Ghost's nonverbal state wasn't a result of seeing his friends and family dead, rather, he'd been holding back his tongue. He was holding himself back from insanity psychosis.

"You... Bastard..." The Grey Ghost shook and convulsed violently as he finally lost control. "No... no... NO!" He yelled, "This is all my fault..." As he fell to his knees, the being began gloating about its heavenly right to smite humanity, to rip them all limb from limb... However, it had underestimated just how much one human could do them.

The Grey Ghost rose to his feet, eyes ablaze with the fires of seething rage. The being looked down, just to be slammed into the pavement to be looked down upon. "So you have chosen to enact heaven's so-called righteous authority... good. Now I know just where to prevent your soul from going you miserable excuse for a sentient lifeform.

As the being looked up, the Grey Ghost slammed his foot onto its chest. "Tell me, oh righteous one, did she make it?"

The being's eyes trembled at the sounding resolve within his voice. The Grey Ghost watched as the being's throat made one large, nervous gulp. "D-Did who... make it?"

"Grandma, Patricia May... Did... She... MAKE... IT." Growled the Grey Ghost, eyes locked on the being.

However, before he could get an answer, he snapped awake to Sam shaking him. Once Sam saw he was awake, he noticed tears streaming down the Grey Ghost's face. "What happened?" Asked Sam, kneeling down to meet his eyes.

"It was... It was a nightmare. I'll be alright, I promise."

As Sam pulled him into a tight hug, the Grey Ghost took in a deep breath and then exhaled to calm himself down. Even the vestiges had seen that dream and had all come to the conclusion he had. "If we wait on the barrier, we all die..." However, he was interrupted by the loudest succession of trumpets the world had ever heard. His eyes widen in horror as he shoves open his front doors, to find an army of demons and an army of angels bringing down the righteous wrath of God and the Devil upon Greater Ottawa.

"SAM! FIND ARCHIE! NOW!" Yelled the Grey Ghost as he rushed into the battle. He saw winged creatures ripping apart the citizens he'd sworn to protect... Without a second thought, his carrier arms revealed themselves and he launched the Blue and Red Tails into the sky.

"LEMUEL! JESSE! I NEED THOSE ANGELS AND DEMONS DOWN NOW! STAGOLEE! USE VOODOO-WRAPPED BULLETS TO AID THEM!"

As the Grey Ghost stood perched on the cowl of the F4U Corsair, he made eye contact with a hooded Angel, its face shrouded in light. The vestiges felt the Grey Ghost's soul scream something terrifying.

"That him..." The Ghost's body became overwhelmed with rage, "That's the Angel... that stole Patricia May from this world..."

Meanwhile, Sam and Mike Brisson had been rushing over to Archie's house. As they burst through the door, Mike shotguns a demon into the wall while Sam leads Archie outside.

"What is going on?" The older gentleman asked.

"I believe this is your human belief called "Revelations".

"But... I was..." Archie was cut off by a massive explosion from the city's center. The three looked up to find the Grey Ghost engaging Angels and Demons alike, using bigger and more deadly attacks to draw more attention to himself. Every one of his vestiges was at play, either helping him fight or helping others escape to the docks. As the trio made their way towards the docks, a horde of demons stood before them blocking their only path forwards not blocked by rubble and debris. However, before Mike or Sam could move, the sound of a musket shattered the stillness of the heavy air. A single demon fell over, revealing the vestige of Davy Crocket along with a small band of mixed-era vestiges standing at his sides.

"The Grey Ghost has the Admiral awaiting you. LET'S GO!"

"What about..."

"Don't worry about him. He's doing this to ensure most of y'all get the hell out of here.

Back with the Grey Ghost, Corsairs and Mustangs ripped around him in an infinity loop, all shredding the two armies besieging Greater Ottawa. The Redtails and Bluetails ripped across the skies over Greater Ottawa, bullets streaming from their guns with voodoo spirits wrapped around and inside them. The Hooded Angel locked eyes with the Grey Ghost, who glared back in contempt. I need to send a message to them... something that drives home the pain I feel right now... Thought the Grey Ghost.

He took a deep breath, deeper than he ever had, and yelled out for all to hear. "SO YOU'VE COME TO TAKE HUMAN LIVES, HAVE YOU? WELL THEN...", The Grey Ghost's eyes lit up a far brighter star-spangled hue than they ever had as he screamed loud enough for even the heavens to hear, "I WILL NEVER ALLOW YOU, ANY OF YOU, TO LAY A HAND ON MY FRIENDS! MY FAMILY! MY PEOPLE! OUR DESTINY WAS WRITTEN IN THE FUCKING STARS! I'LL BE DAMNED BEFORE I LET YOU STOP US!"

The Angels and Demons that had been rushing for the docks, now found themselves rushing toward this overly cocky human.

"VESTIGES! AT THE READY!" Grinned the Grey Ghost, "We're having Angel and Demon for lunch."
