It's been three days since I first woke up here. No matter how much I disagreed with them, they would just shove the lies further down my throat. If I was truly in here for what they said, I would still be seeing her. I was working on a plan to get out of here as soon as possible. Summer was in danger and it got worse every second I was in here. I wondered if the others were looking for us and if they were close.
Everything was on a strict schedule here. Breakfast at eight, lunch and meditation at noon, and dinner at five. They made sure you swallowed the pills and check-in after to make sure you didn't force them back up. The food was bland and always the same. I felt like a child being babysat every second I'm here. I knew that I wasn't insane but this place was about to make me. The pills they were giving me left me in a haze. I couldn't think properly, I had to get creative with hiding the pills when they checked.
The only way in and out of here was the key cards located on their badges. I had to somehow get one and get the hell out of here for good. The only problem was how would I get it without being caught?
Right on cue, a guy walks in with lunch and whatever pills they're forcing me to take. I take the cup containing the pills from his hand and wait for him to step closer to make my move. They brought the food in a tray so I had to act fast. I grab the tray and spill everything distracting the man and I start banging him over the head. He reaches out to grab my wrist but I kick with my leg making him lose his footing.
He falls to the floor hitting his head against a chair on his way day. I snap my fingers in front of him and don't get any reaction. He was out cold. I toss the tray from my hands and hastily grab his ID card from his shirt. It was only a matter of time before they realize what I've done and send people after me.
I tap the card against the door handle and it grants me the exit I've been waiting for. I hurriedly run out gaining attention from a few people that were out here. As I suspected, when I round the hallway the scenery changes. The dull white disappears into what looks like a mansion that someone puked gold all over. I knew there was something off the minute I awoke and this just verifies it. I hear voices yelling behind me signaling I've been found out and I pick up my pace. My lungs feel like they're on fire but I have to push that out of my mind if I want to get out of here alive.
This place was huge and easy to get lost in. I've taken so many turns I'm lost myself. I had to keep my eyes open for windows so I know where a possible exit may be. I knew in a matter of time more people would be looking for me and I look for anywhere to hide so I can catch my breath. I push open the first door I could find and close it with my back against it. I listen with my ear to the door to see if they've passed by yet. The doorknob turns and I jump back. There weren't any places I could hide in here, only a giant table with chairs appearing to be some sort of meeting room.
"I think he went this way!" Someone yells from behind the door and the doorknob stops moving. I wait a moment before moving toward the door again and make sure nothing could be heard. I wait another minute before slowly opening it and peering out scarcely. Nobody was around, perfect. I look around but all I can see are doors and stairs leading up. Looking around once more, I head straight to the stairs hoping my exit will be there. Luck was on my side, huge double doors appear in the corner fastened by two giant frosted windows.
"Stop right there!" A voice howls from behind me. A man is running at me, shifting his hand to grab what I reckon to be his gun. I don't think twice when I dart for the doors and run outside to my freedom. The sun blinds me when I open the door and I lift my hand to shield them. Trees surrounded the mansion with a single street leading out to who knows where adorned with a gate and fence I saw before.
"Fuck!" I groan in frustration. Bullets were firing behind me and I promptly run toward the fence hoping I had sufficient energy to climb. I jump as high as I can and climb. The top of the fence was barbed and I shut my eyes and cross over. Landing, I stumble to my side and feel blood trickling down from my stomach. I hear the fence clatter again and I swiftly jump up ignoring the stinging of my stomach. The man chasing me is ascending the fence himself and I waste no time moving to the trees. The Forrest seemed endless, but I knew they'd have to give up the hunt eventually. I just had to keep running. I hold pressure on my stomach and don't dare look back.
