"Hey, look at the menu board. Pretend that you are reading it." Elsa instructed Chris.
He followed obediently and got into character by placing his arm on her shoulders. Elsa tried to nudge him but Chris only pulled her closer to his side.
"We are engaged, remember? Just follow my lead and I will prove to you that your best friend is planning something bad," Chris remarked before slowly sliding his hand down to Elsa's waist.
"That is too much acting!" Elsa muttered with irritation. Nevertheless, she had to maintain her composure and continue with the reason she asked him to follow her anyway. "You said you saw my dad's past, did you see the hospital there or my mom?"
"Hmm, now that you mentioned it, I don't think I remember seeing that hospital. It is also weird that I can only see until the day of your adoption. His memory is blank beyond that. Did he perhaps have amnesia?" Chris said.
"I am sure he did not. He can recall his time with my mom. They were best friends back then," Elsa then ordered two vanilla lattes for the both of them.
"I can try to check your dad's memory again," Chris said.
"Don't you dare touch my dad again. You already created an awful wound on the back of his neck." Elsa warned.
"Don't worry about that, it will soon fade and he will not remember he had that once it's completely gone."
"Does it hurt? Do you think you can check mine and see if there are some things that I saw but was not aware of?" Elsa asked while looking directly at Chris' eyes.
Chris then remembers Hera's painting. Her eyes there were brown, and Elsa's eyes were amber.
[I told you she couldn't be the princess. They smell different.] Yakobo said.
'But Hera is a mage, we don't know if mages can do some spells to change the color of their eyes. Or if she is just disguising herself as Elsa.'
"Hello? Chris to earth? Are you still with me?" Elsa uttered when Chris just stared at her.
"Yes, it hurts, a lot. So don't even think about it. I will never do it for you."
[Just say yes. It will heal anyway and she won't remember the pain. Just like you said. What if the princess is in disguise? She has magic after all.]
Chris ignored his wolf and picked up the tray with their coffee and they both walked back to their seat. When they were done, Elsa decided to stop by her dad's clinic first. It was not only to inform him of their guests tonight but also to confront him about the hospital he was building.
"I'm sorry Elsa, your dad is not here. There was an emergency on Highway 32 and they needed doctors on site. Your dad was called in to respond." Dr. Arden's secretary informed them as soon as they got there.
"When will he be back?" Elsa asked before adding, "If they need more doctors, we can go there."
"He will be operating on some patients for sure in the hospital near there, so he might not be back until tomorrow. You know how it goes. But he told me to tell you that you are on call here. So I will let you know if a patient comes in," said the secretary.
Elsa nodded and headed home with her guests, but not everybody was welcome there.
Elsa could already hear her dogs barking the moment she entered the gate but she was in complete surprise when everyone got out of the car.
"Ahh!" Nadel's voice resounded as she screamed with all her might, desperately clutching her hair, struggling to prevent Nuri from tearing her head off.
Elsa's copper-colored husky attacked Nadel without warning, shocking them all, except for Chris who was happily smirking as he watched the canine pull Nadel's hair as if it was playing tug-of-war with her.
"Oh my God! Nuri! Stop! Let go! Stop!" It was the first time that Elsa's dog failed to follow her command. She was panicking and didn't know what to do. Nuri is a big-boned husky and really strong.
She tried to stop Nuri by pulling the skin on her nape but it didn't work. Nuri just got more infuriated. Elsa fears for both her dog and her friend. She has no idea why Nuri suddenly attacked Nadel.
'You better stop your beta or your master will really get angry,' Chris said to Ciel who stood beside her chuckling with Gaia and Nile.
[Why stop the fun? Let her feel Nuri's wrath,] Ciel replied and really did nothing to stop Nuri from terrorizing the poor doctor.
Chris sighed, as much as he wanted to let Nuri rip apart that woman, he could see the worry and stress on Elsa's face and it pained him to see his mate in that state.
*Phwwwt*
Chris whistled, making Nuri look at him but still didn't let go of Nadel's hair. 'That's enough, Nuri. You are upsetting my mate.'
[But this woman is up to no good, I can smell it!] Nuri answered.
'I can smell her too. But don't worry, I will protect your master from her. I promise. So let her go for now. It's stressing Elsa,' Chris gently said and Nuri finally let go.
"Oh my goodness, Nadel, are you ok? I am so so so sorry, they are trained dogs, I dunno what triggered her reaction," Elsa apologized before biting her lower lip as she waited for Nadel's response.
"Are you hurt somewhere?" Jai questioned as he helped Nadel stand up.
"I am okay, and still in one piece, fortunately. I think the sausage that I ate earlier made her think I am food," Nadel said before secretly glaring at Nuri.
"Come on, let's get you inside." Elsa invited everyone to go in before glancing at Nuri, "Bad dog, Nuri. Not nice."
[Hmmp, I really hate that woman,] Nuri said to Chris.
'I don't like her either. Is she always with Elsa?' Chris did not join the three and decided to find out more info first.
[When at work. But she never goes to Elsa's home. Well, she came once and we growled at her. She never came back after that.]
'Seems like she's avoiding all of you,' Chris said to Nuri before turning to Yakobo, 'Could it really be her?'
