Ambros casts a fleeting look in Chris's direction while he keeps spraying water at Elsa. He remarks, "She's had high fevers since she was young. It's common; some individuals are predisposed to it."
"That's not quite what I meant," Chris stated. "Earlier, her eyes were on fire, and she let out a scream just before she fainted."
Ambros responded, "You mean her temperature was too high? That's precisely why I placed her in the tub. People with sudden high temperatures are susceptible to seizures, which could potentially cause permanent harm to their bodies. She must have been having a recurring dream, which is why she screamed. It is common for people with fevers to have vivid dreams or nightmares."
Chris let out a sigh. Either Ambros genuinely didn't understand his point or was avoiding answering, perhaps hiding something. "How did you suddenly appear out of nowhere?" he asked.
"I had just arrived home and was heading upstairs when I heard her scream. When I saw the blood in the hallway, I got worried that something had happened to Elsa. What's going on here?" Ambros inquired, his brow furrowing.
"Oh, that..." Chris heard Yakobo laugh at him.
[He is reversing the situation, haha!]
"That was just a little adventure courtesy of Nile," Chris explained, trying to turn the situation around with a chuckle. "No need to be concerned. He caught some prey and wanted to proudly show it to Elsa. I'll clean it up later." Chris heard his wolf laughing even harder at his feeble excuse.
Ambros gave clear instructions, "You can clean it up now. I'll take care of Elsa. Afterward, you should get some rest." Ambros then noticed the bandage on Elsa's right wrist and called out to Chris, "Wait. What happened to her wrist?"
Chris shrugged it off, saying, "Perhaps she had some rough playtime with her dogs. You might want to ask her about it when she wakes up." Chris glanced at Elsa once more before heading out to clean the hallway.
As soon as Elsa's temperature dropped and she began to settle down, Ambros removed the bandage from her wrist and was shocked by what he saw. "How did this happen?" he wondered aloud, quickly drying her off, and carefully laying her on the bed.
'Will she be alright?' Chris inquired anxiously of Yakobo, his concern for his mate.
[Well, considering her father is a healer, she should be alright,] came the reassuring response.
'I've never seen anything quite like it before. It was as if her eyes were similar to her glowing wrist but also different at the same time,' Chris remarked as he cleaned the floor.
[Maybe there's a connection. What do you think is happening to her?] Yakobo wondered.
'I honestly have no idea. I've never heard of anything like this anywhere. I don't even think whatever is happening to her is normal in Zemaria,' Chris replied.
Chris was nearly finished with the cleaning when Ambros emerged from Elsa's room looking very tired, overfatigued even.
"Is she okay now?" Chris asked eagerly.
"She will be. Go get some rest, Chris. It's almost morning. I'll rest too," Ambros reassured Chris with a pat on the shoulder before heading to his own room.
Chris swiftly completed the floor-wiping and entered Elsa's room. She was peacefully sleeping on her bed, resembling an angel, and he noticed her wrist with a fresh set of bandages.
He settled onto the bed next to Elsa and picked up a medical book from her bedside table. He flipped through its pages, examining illustrations of human anatomy and reading several sections.
'Yakobo, can you see this? The healing techniques in their world differ from ours,' Chris remarked with profound curiosity as he leafed through the pages.
[Maybe that's because they don't have super abilities and magic at their disposal,] Yakobo suggested.
Chris found great pleasure in browsing the pages until he dozed off beside Elsa. Before long, morning arrived, and Elsa woke up feeling considerably better than she had the day before.
The first thing that caught her eyes was Chris, asleep beside her, embracing her copy of Henry Gray's "Gray's Anatomy."
The sight brought a smile to her lips. 'He resembles a medical student who's drifted off while studying for an exam. Cute... Well, an attractive medical student, to be precise,' Elsa thought. 'If he were a doctor, patients would surely line up at his clinic, whether they were sick or not. He will perhaps be nicknamed "Dr. Handsome".' Elsa chuckled inwardly.
'Wait... What's going on in my head?' Elsa pondered as she got up to make her way to the bathroom. However, she suddenly had a change of heart and cast one more glance at Chris. 'Well, it's undeniable. He's incredibly good-looking, and I'm just stating the truth,' she admitted to herself.
With that thought in mind, Elsa returned to the bed and tenderly covered Chris with a blanket, noticing that he had curled up, thinking he was feeling a bit chilly.
She checked on her wrist in the bathroom which now has a different bandage that was perfectly made, unlike the one that Chris made last night.
'I wonder if he learned how to properly put a bandage by just reading overnight.' She then removed it and saw her wound was still there. 'Maybe I can only heal others and not myself? I should try.'
Elsa placed her hand on her wrist just like what she did on Nile and concentrated very hard… It was so hard that she was sweating and got frustrated after a few failed attempts.
"Grrr… Nothing is happening! This is useless…" Elsa grumbled and gave up. She went to the shower and decided to just forget about trying and proceed with her day.
Elsa tried to recall what happened last night. It was surely eventful and feels excited about her newly discovered healing power. She started to imagine healing her patients without them knowing and she felt happy about it until she thought of Nadel.
"I shouldn't have lost my cool. I should apologize to her as soon as possible." Elsa decided and wash up faster to do her plan.
