Miriam glanced at the door of the study, wondering if Mr. Byron heard what they were talking.
"There is no need to express gratitude, Ms. Aylward. It is always my duty to take care of Mr. Byron."
Miriam acted very politely.
"Great. Ms. Malpas is always that conscientious... Why is Lamont still busy at this moment? I'll go and see."
Leila was about to walk towards the study.
Miriam leaned directly to the right, blocking her way.
"You can't go, Ms. Aylward. Mr. Byron is still busy with his business, and I don't want anyone to disturb him."
"Ridiculous! You are not qualified to stop me." Leila roared arrogantly, her eyes full of contempt. "You are just a housekeeper, how dare you put on airs in front of me?"
Miriam remain calm. She looked at Leila as if she was watching a joke.
"Qualification? Anyway, I'm still Mr. Byron's personal secretary. Please do not make it difficult on purpose, Ms. Aylward."
