The Reader of Souls

(previously titled 'perhaps I'm The bad guy') *** Scattered. That's the simplest way to explain the situation in the lower blessed lands. Most of the races seem to not get along with their own people rather than people of other races. Even though their situation is quite dire... Only the empires that have strengthened themselves for years are able to somewhat defend against the attacks of the residents in the cursed lands. And those that are weak, have to constantly be on the move to avoid being killed. But even then... to protect their own beliefs none of the residents of the lower blessed lands ever get along. This is the new home of Abraham. Someone who fought for domination in his previous life. And lost. He got sent to the body of carl, a human prince in the lower blessed lands by an unknown entity for unknown purposes. Now, with the help of his closest friend who also transmigrated with him, and the entities forces and his ability to control others' emotions he will dominate this world. However, there is one major problem. 'The deities Who want to kill Abraham to 'save the world' ****************************************** Hello! The sky had turned cloudy.

The big creature just stood there watching the humans. Neither it nor the humans moved. Time seemed to have stopped. "Attack! Everyone!"

One of them regained themselves as he ran towards the creature. He was wearing a symbol on his back which looked to be a roaring lion with wings. The man had a big posture and a spear that he held in both of his hands. He ran on the muddy ground towards the big creature. The creature simply looked down on the man. He tightened his grip on his spear as he charged for an attack.

A small spark appeared from his spear. The spear was soon covered by a blinding red flame. The flames slowly started burning away the man's shoulders. But he did not stop. As he knew he had to buy as much time as possible for the rest of their forces to arrive. Even if he knew he would die. His eyes trembled.

He tried attacking one of those orange spheres. The fire from his spear started enveloping the orange sphere as the man's body started burning even more. He attacked with everything he had. But. Not even a scratch was left on it. Just when he was about to give up, he felt some strange energies from behind him.

"Let them deal with that thing. Let's leave." Alfred spoke. His comrades seem to agree with him too. They left the creature to their enemies and began escaping from that place. "I doubt those fools will be able to buy us much time. We should hurry."

Spoke the same Old woman who had saved Abraham earlier. The rest of them nodded. They all rushed away from that place. However, "Why can't we… go forward…"

A strange invisible wall was blocking them from leaving. One of them suddenly began panicking and using his attacks to try and get out but nothing happened to the wall. "Stop. Don't waste your energy. That wall is too strong."

The old woman from earlier spoke. "Did you notice something?"

Asked Alfred. "That's right. This wall has a ridiculous amount of mana extremely concentrated. We can't break it."

Alfred frowned.

The old woman sighed and spoke "First, we need to try to find an opening to get out. And if there isn't… Well, we will talk about that later."

The man attacking the wall stopped and stood on the side. "Neil. Gryffard. Go and check for holes in the wall."

The old woman spoke to two men standing nearby. One of them was someone Abraham was familiar with. It was the red-haired person they had met a while back.

The two of them nodded and disappeared from that spot. "Alfred. Do you think we can beat that thing?"

She asked Alfred. Who had been standing there and quietly observing the battle ahead.

"We can't. Even if we attacked together with them, we still won't be able to." Alfred spoke. The Old woman smiled and replied "You're still the same huh. Anyways, Can you teleport?"

"No. I can't. I can use all my other magic but it seems teleportation is not possible." Alfred replied. The old woman became quite disappointed. "We're back."

A voice came from behind them. It was Neil and Gryffard. "You two are as quick as ever. So? Did you find anything?"

The old woman asked. Neil and Gryfford showed a disappointed expression. They shook their heads and replied "No. The wall is a complete square that's trapping us with that creature. Not even the sky is open."

At their response, The faces of the others became pale. "What about the underground?"

Abraham asked. The two sighed and shook their heads.

"I see. So we're completely trapped." Spoke the old woman.

The old woman spoke "We can't escape and we can't fight. Guess we're dead aren't we?"

She burst out into laughter. "I guess this is how it'll end for us."

"Alfred. Make sure to keep Abraham safe. We can't betray God's trust in us."

"Let's go. The army of The Holy Light." The old woman spoke. The rest of the people took out weapons in their hands. Circles with symbols were appearing in some of their hands. And, in less than a minute. They reached the creature and began participating in battle.

"Why 'The holy light'? Is it in some way related to your god?" Abraham asked.

"No. I heard they chose that name to mock our strongest rivals. 'The army of light'." Alfred replied with a crumpled expression on his face. Though it soon turned normal.

"I see."

"Let's go. We shouldn't waste the time they've bought us we need to leave."

However, just when they were about to begin moving, Abraham felt a huge force hitting him.

***

Pure lightning storm, True Devine flames, Call of the Abyss, None of these Legendary spells seem to do much to that thing. Not even their best ones. The situation was quite hopeless. "The empire is weaker than I thought."

"Don't talk as if you were able to do something."

"Dodge! It's gonna attack again!"

The thing crawled in the air with its hands as it charged towards the humans fighting it. It reached them in the blink of an eye. Most of them were able to dodge. Unfortunately, Not all of them were as lucky. In the huge pincers of that huge beast. A man with a half-burnt body and a spear was cut in half.

***

All the people fighting that creature were thrown away by its body. One of them hit Abraham. Making him crash on the invisible wall with huge force. 'Dammit…'

His vision gradually began turning dark. It seems Alfred too had been hit.

The creature let out a loud scream and began crawling up with its hands into the sky, completely destroying the Wall. Alfred acted quickly and activated a mass teleportation spell as soon as this happened. Teleporting all of them to a safe place. "A-Alfred? What the hell happened here?"

"Quick… We need to escape immediately."

"Huh?" The person asking that was confused but he didn't hesitate to activate it after seeing their condition. And just like that, they were able to escape from that creature.

***

Abraham gradually came to his senses. 'Shit… What happened back then? All I can remember is getting hit by something…'

"You're awake Abraham?" He heard an extremely familiar voice beside him.

"You're alive?" Abraham spoke. His voice sounded a bit teary. He had been expecting this person to be dead after all.

"Well of course I am. You didn't think I would die after coming that far did you?"
