It's a dream

The man with moles glanced at Little Fan Wushuang. He thought that she was knocked unconscious and did not hesitate to say out loud, "It's a pity that we can't take the girl and her mother. With their looks, we can make a lot of money off them by selling them to traffickers."

"F*ck you!" Fan Lei cursed as he glared at the man. Even if it hurt, he still cursed out loud at him. If he could, he would have punched the man. Whoever was behind this intended to kill everyone in the car. What had his daughter done to these b*stards?! She was only 10 years old!

The man with moles ignored Fan Lei's curse. Instead, he merely smirked as he said, "President Fan, I doubt you never thought that someone like you could die such a horrible death huh?"

Fan Lei glared at him before he coughed out another mouthful of blood.

The man with moles stood up and said to his man, "Set it up so that it will burn everything. I doubt they could run. Their legs are trapped and the kid's out. Time it correctly so that we have enough time to get out of here."

Once they walked away, Fan Lei spat out the rest of the blood in his mouth before calling out in a hushed tone, "Wushuang?"

The little girl fully opened her eyes slowly. When she was sure that those men had left, she whispered, "Yeah, Daddy?"

"Y-You need to run. The moment those men drive off, I-I want you to run. Run and don't look back. N-No matter what, you have to live."

With tears and snot running down her little face as well as blood on her forehead from being cut by the broken glasses, Little Fan Wushuang shook her head. "Daddy… Mummy… Stay together… "

"We'll al-always be with you, alright?" Fan Lei said with a choked up voice. Blood was filling up inside of his mouth and he had to spit them out.

He took his wife's hand. Both of them would not be able to escape. Even if someone managed to save them now, given the extent of their injuries, they would not live for long.

Chen Qingting was about to lose consciousness from the blood loss, and still, the last thing in her mind was to tell her daughter, "W-Wushuang, s-stay alive… D-Don't simply trust… anyone…"

"Mummy… I'll be good! Don't leave me!" cried Little Fan Wushuang as she stared at the half-broken rearview mirror.

Fan Lei kept his eyes on the two people outside. From the broken glasses that were scattered outside the car, he could roughly see them standing at a distance away. They were about to leave from the looks of it.

Fan Lei quickly said, "Wushuang, only a few people knew that we're heading home today… You know who they are! Remember that!"

When he saw the car drove off, he snapped, "Now, Wushuang!"

"No! P-please don't make me..."

"NOW!" Fan Lei coughed loudly, and he had a little seizure and his eyes rolled back a little.

Little Fan Wushuang glanced at him for another second before she released the seatbelt that saved her life earlier and pushed the door apart.

It was heavy, but she managed to keep it open as she climbed up. It was definitely not an easy task as the car was overturned and she had to jump down from about a meter high while being injured.

"ARGHH!"

Her chest hurt when she fell down on the floor, but she forced herself to get up quickly. She could see the fire getting nearer.

"Mummy… Daddy…" She took one last glance at them before she limped over and hid among the trees.

However, the fire moved too fast and before she could get far enough, it reached the car.

"I love you, Qingting…" Fan Lei held his wife's hand tightly and closed his eyes.

Chen Qingting tried to say something but no voice came out from her. However, from the way she gave her husband's hand a squeeze, he knew what she wanted to say.

As they waited for God of Death to claim their lives, both of them prayed that their daughter would be able to escape and that whoever it was that planned this to be persecuted one day.

BOOOM!!!

The fire got into the tank and the car blew up. The explosion was so loud that it caused the cars that were on the main road to break suddenly. A small accident happened because of it. People got out of their cars as they wondered where did the sound come from.

Someone called the ambulance and reported the matter, while others parked their cars aside before they went to search for the source.

As for the little girl, the impact from the explosion hit her, who was limping away, throwing her a few feet forward. Her little body crashed into a tree that broke her fall and prevented her from falling down the slope but it also caused her to be severely injured.

"Urgh…" The pain knocked the breath out of her, but Xiao Lei forced herself to prop up using her elbows and she looked toward where the car was.

"Nooo…Mummy! Daddy!"

Little Fan Wushuang called out quietly as her battered body lay on the ground, hidden among the thick trees. Her back hurt from the blast earlier, but more than that, her heart hurt from knowing that she would never see her parents again.

When she looked at the overturned BMW that was burning brightly, tears that were mixed with blood slowly rolled down her cheeks.

As she watched the flames engulfed the car and everyone she held dear, she slowly slipped into unconsciousness.

....

"Nngnn…" Xiao Lei was tossing and turning in her sleep. The long forgotten memories were back to torment her again.

"Ms. Xiao Lei?" Han Ye frowned as he tried to shake Xiao Lei awake. He tried calling her earlier but he could not reach her. When he arrived, he asked the receptionist to give Xiao Lei a call, but no one picked up as well. Worried, he came up with a hotel maid.

He had sent the hotel maid to go in and wake Xiao Lei up, but the maid came out a few minutes earlier and informed him that she could not wake her up. That was why Han Ye came into the room to take a look.

Xiao Lei was crying in her sleep, seemingly trapped in whatever was frightening her. He tried to pat her tear-stained cheek lightly, but she continued to sleep and cry in her sleep.

Han Ye sat down on the bed. He then said to the maid, "Bring me a wet towel."

The maid nodded and quickly came back with a wet towel. Han Ye gently wiped Xiao Lei's face as he said, "Ms. Xiao Lei, it's fine. There's nothing to be afraid of. It's just a bad dream."

Suddenly, Xiao Lei opened her eyes so abruptly that Han Ye was startled. She then sat up and there were pain and confusion in her eyes as she stared at him. However, the person she saw then was not Han Ye, but her husband, Xiao Yunjie.

Seeing her husband's familiar face appear in front of her, beads of tears started to fall quickly.

She then cried as she hugged him tightly. "Yunjie, don't leave me… Please don't leave me again…"

Han Ye was flustered and he did not know where to place his hands. Even though he had been with Wu Yuexue for a long time, he never learned how to deal with a crying girl.

In the end, he merely awkwardly patted the back of Xiao Lei's shoulders. "Erm, Ms. Xiao Lei. This is Han Ye…"

Upon hearing his voice, Xiao Lei slowly released him. She looked at the maid, then at Han Ye again. Then she looked around the room.

Once she realized that she was already an adult, and not the little girl that she was, she buried her face in her hands and groaned.

"It's a dream…"
