"Hokage-sama is together with the rest of the ANBUs and Jounins. As far as I know, they just went up to the rooftop of the Hokage tower."
"Thanks, Iruka-san. Bye!"
Okami teleported back to the Hokage Tower's rooftop and saw everyone gathered together. "Hokage-sama!"
Everyone looked back and was surprised to see Okami up with them. Hiruzen had instructed some of the ANBUs to block the door so that no one could easily come inside. As soon as he remembered that this kid was proficient in teleportation, he nodded and gestured the kid to come near him.
Kakashi and the rest of the Jounins looked at him for a few seconds before looking up in the sky again.
"Okami-kun, why are you here? It's too dangerous for you to stay." Hiruzen patted his head, his eyes fixed on him. "Why are you here, anyway?"
Okami stared at the body of the lightning bird pokemon, which was now fully visible to the eyes because the dark clouds were gone. "Because I know exactly what kind of enemy you are facing right now."
Kakashi made a side-glance at Okami while in a fighting stance as his body was ready to attack or defend anytime. "Better tell the Hokage what you know, Okami-kun. Everything counts. This is the first time that I've seen such a great bird!"
Okami gave a deep sigh. "It's Zapdos, one of the legendary Kanto Bird pokemon. A bird with the power to nullify and use all kinds of electric attacks in the field into his own, this pokemon is a very dangerous enemy to fight against."
"A pokemon?!" Hiruzen frowns became deeper as he was in ruminations. "Tell me how we can defeat it."
"Only Rock Jutsu and Ice Jutsu are effective against Zapdos," Okami answered as he summoned his Pokemon App and showed the Pokedex entry to Hiruzen.
Hiruzen read the details and was flabbergasted at the skills the pokemon had. Just by looking at the names of its moves, he could understand that it was very speedy and electric Jutsu was its staple attack. "How can we make this pokemon go away."
Okami observed that the lightning strikes were getting lesser. "There's nothing we can do unless you can fight against it up in the sky. No matter, I think he is done with whatever it is trying to do."
Zapdos was now enveloped in pink light and zoomed like a jet plane after the light was gone. Its direction was northeast of Konoha. At least, its body was not releasing any lightning strikes anymore.
"Dang! A speedy bird with Agility is never a good combination to fight with." Okami never left his gaze on Zapdos' body until he could not see it anymore.
Hiruzen frowned when he saw the scorched houses and buildings. "Everyone, check for the extent of the damage. Give me the full report at the soonest possible time."
Everyone dispersed in a matter of seconds. Soon the place was vacated and the only people left were Hiruzen and Okami. There was a momentary silence between them as they both stared up the serene sky.
Okami knew that he had to make an explanation as to why a pokemon suddenly attacked the village. If he was not careful, then he might be blamed because of his close association with pokemon.
The first one to break the silence was Hiruzen. "Okami-kun, tell me the truth. Why did a pokemon attack the village?"
Okami realized that his answer could determine his fate. This time, he needed to strengthen his Acting-no-Jutsu, hoping that he could bullshit his way again. He took a deep breath and answered, "This is the result of the greediness of people."
Hiruzen frowned when he heard Okami's answer. The fate that the Ketchum clan got obliterated was confirmed by Inoichi when he read Okami's memory. "Why is it so, Okami-kun?"
"You've already known that our clan has suffered extinction because of the greediness of people. They wanted to take our powers and use them for their gain. But what they do not know is that our clan is also needed to control and balance the power that connects the pokemon world and in this world."
"Are you trying to say that pokemon is not of this world?"
Okami nodded. "In the past, the Ketchum clan was able to contact the God that governed the pokemon world, Arceus. Our forefather made a contract with Arceus, a symbiotic relationship wherein his descendants could use the pokemon to fight and in return, we help the pokemon grow stronger in this world."
"Like a summoning contract?"
Okami shook his head. "More than that. I could not explain it very well because of the complexities behind the contract but that is the gist of it."
"Then what do you think is the best solution to this?"
"By training lots of Pokemon trainers. That is why I am so adamant in doing this because I know that I am preventing disastrous things to happen. Not trying to scare you, but there are still two legendary birds if my suspicion is correct."
Hiruzen could not help but give him a bewildered stare. "Care to explain?"
"Moltres, the legendary Fire Bird and Articuno, the legendary Ice Bird pokemon. If Zapdos is here, then definitely the two of them are hiding somewhere as well." Okami massaged his head because he was getting tired of all the teleportation. "Well, there other legendary species as well...the weather trio, the legendary dogs to cite a few."
Hiruzen was silent for a long time.
Okami did not know if Hiruzen believed him or not but he tried his best. "Can I go home now, Hokage-sama? My body feels very tired. You know where to contact me if you have more questions."
Hiruzen nodded and smiled. "You may go, Okami-kun. I'll be at my office when you want something from me."
"Thank you." Okami teleported at once.
===========================
Hiruzen did not know what to feel when he heard Okami's revelation but there was one thing he was sure of - Okami was not at fault. But if the people knew that Zapdos was a pokemon, then they might hate him just like how they hated Naruto simply because he was a Jinchuuriki. Sometimes the people just want to blame someone to vent their anger.
"Hokage-sama, they are here," Hanshi said.
Hiruzen continued reading the documents without lifting his gaze. "Let them in."
Inoichi and Shikaku entered the office and approached Hiruzen and gave their greetings.
"We've analyzed everything that Okami said a while ago. The reports are written on this paper, Hokage-sama." Shikaku took out the paper and gave it to Hiruzen.
Hiruzen unfurled the document and was silent for a few minutes after reading. After a while, he lifted his gaze and said, "A bird that is made of fire?"
Inoichi's countenance was grim. "They just appeared without warning, just like how the thunderbird, er - Zapdos - attacked our village, Hokage-sama."
Hiruzen tapped his fingers on the table. "What Okami said coincided with the reports of our Intel situated in Suna. He was talking about a Fire Bird named Moltres and another one called Articuno, an Ice Bird. The three Legendary birds."
"It may be a very strong pokemon but there's something good that we are forgetting about," Shikaku remarked.
Hiruzen tilted his head. "What is it?"
"Thay can be caught, Hokage-sama." Shikaku summoned his Drowzee who suddenly hugged his waist. "And we have an advantage over other villagers."
For the first time since the Zapdos' assault, Hiruzen grinned. "Okami Okaya."
Inoichi chuckled. "So our initial plan will finally proceed?"
Hiruzen nodded. "indeed. The Pokemon Intelligence Division should be created. But we must inform Okami about this and let him have a demonstration about what pokemon could do to every clan."
"No problem. I'll be the one to talk with him," Inoichi volunteered.
"Very good," Hiruzen said and shifted his attention to Shikaku. "What about the victims? Are they being cared for properly?"
"Everything is going smoothly, Hokage-sama."
"Then you're dismissed." Hiruzen waved his hands as he went back to reading the report.
==============================
Okami teleported inside the Pokemon Center and went outside to check if there was any damage. "Thank God the house is still intact. That was nervewracking."
This time, he chose to teleport outside his old house to see if everything was okay. There was a slight burn on the rooftop.
He then proceeded to Baki's shop to check if Baki and the rest were safe.
"Baki-san!" Okami exclaimed as he dashed towards the countertop once he entered the shop. "Is anybody hurt?"
Baki nodded as he hugged Happiny. "Yes. I let the workers leave early so they can check their family's situation as well."
"How about your family?"
Baki smiled. "They're just fine. Toki got a slight burn on his skin because he was scalded by the hot water that spilled on his skin. I've checked Anita and she's back in the house."
"That's good to hear." Okami looked around. "Have you seen Tomiro?"
Okami shook his head. "He was on his way to deliver food before noon but he never came back. I'm worried that he might be hurt."
"Do you have any idea as to where he could be?"
Baki placed Happiny on the ground and took a notebook inside the counter drawer. "He was supposed to be on his way to Ryota corner, just beside the Red District."
"I'll look for him, Baki-san. I'll be back at around 5 PM."
Baki nodded. "Thank you for doing this, Okami-kun. Stay safe."
Okami went outside and summoned Pidgey. "Pidgey, please do aerial scouting and see if Tomiro is around. Try to report to me from time to time."
Pidgey fluttered her wings and flew up.
Okami pulled out his Pokemon App and checked the PokeMap. Several spots and locations were marked as 'Routes' and saw that he had already passed by the Ryota corner once. He followed the map while looking at the surroundings from time to time until he reached a dead-end.
A street sign with a 'Ryota' written in it was standing on the left road. As he checked the Pokemap, he saw that it was labeled as 'Route 5 - Ryota Corner'.
Okami summoned Rattata and said, "Search every nook and corner and find Tomiro. Do not attack anyone and just escape if someone wants to harm you. We do not want to make a wrong impression to anyone, especially after such a sensitive event concerning Zapdos, okay?"
Rattata nodded and scurried fast.
Okami spent his time studying the notes he got from Kakashi while waiting for his Pokemon. After ten minutes, he saw Pidgey diving towards him and landed on the ground.
"Have you seen anything, Pidgey?"
{I could not find Tomiro at the north of Ryota Corner.}
Okami noticed that his inbox was blinking, finding out that a new prompt had just appeared.
