"Kifayat this letter is for you. Look your name is written here."

"My letter?"

Kifayat took the letter from her mother to check. Kifayat doubted if it is from school. Could it be a complain letter against me? Impossible I have always been very good at school.

She opened up the letter as soon as she saw what is written she immediately closed the letter. Kifayat's mother looked at her suspiciously. "What is written in the letter, Kifayat. Where did it come from?"

"Well mom, it is...from a friend."

"Then why did you react so strongly as soon as you opened the letter?"

"No, mom it is really from a friend. I reacted because I was stunned. I never expected to get a letter like this."

"Which friend?"

"Mom you don't know him. His name is.....is princess."

Kifayat's mother recalled all of her daughter's friend but couldn't remember anyone having this name. "Is it your new friend?"

As Kifayat kept saying she became more and more fluent about lying. "No mom it actually not a friend but more like a pen pal. Did not you say before that you and your best friend used to write to each other when you two were in two different cities. I thought it was very touching so I asked my friends to write to me.

But Saba, Lia, Cyra none of them are interested in writing letters because we are in the same area. Princess happened to learn about this as he was also interested in writing letters so we became pen pal."

"Then how come I didn't know that you had a pen pal? "

Kifayat muttered, it's because I also know it today.

"What did you say?"

"Mom I said, I only decided to became pen pal today and I am telling you now."

Kifayat's mother was still a little suspicious but she didn't probe any further. Anyway she believes in her daughter that she will never do anything wrong. Kifayat breathed a sigh of relief seeing her mother was gullible. She felt a little guilty about lying to her mother.

She didn't tell her mother the truth is because she herself is very confused about this letter thing. If she said to her mother, that someone kept sending anonymous letters to her, she would be more worried.

She went to her room to read the letter. But at that time, one thing Kifayat didn't know that she did not really lie to her mother. Someone really wanted to became her pen pal because he happened to listen about Kifayat wanting to become penpal.

Two years ago, at the restaurant

Kifayat went to the restaurant with her friends. Arbaz and his friends happened to sit at the next table. There was not much people in the restaurant. Kifayat and her friends were talking and laughing.

"Do you know my mother and her best friend used to exchange letters when they were young. Even after my mother got married, they kept sending letter's to each other."

"Wow! Exchanging letters? I think it is very romantic."

"You think so too. I also think exchanging letters is very romantic. Why don't we do it too?" Kifayat asked with anticipation

Saba, Lia and Cyra looked at each other. "Hahaha."

"Kifayat you are so old fashioned. Who exchanges letters now a days?"

"Didn't you just say it was romantic?"

"Yeah but it was in the past. Now we have mobile phones, computer, lots of messaging apps. Who will be bored enough to send letters?"

Cyra also nodded with Kifayat. "Besides exchanging letters is more costly than sending messages through phones. And Kifayat we live in the same city. It doesn't take me more than half an hour to go to your house."

"You guys are no fun. But no matter how old schooled you think I am I still believe if I suddenly get a letter I will be happy."

"What if it's a letter threatening to kill you will you be happy?" Saba asked curiously.

"I think only you can think of giving me this letter." Kifayat threw the tissue that was in her hand to Saba. Saba managed to dodge the attack but the tissue like a flying aeroplane landed on the next table.

Kifayat was stunned as well as embarrassed. She immediately went to the next table to apologize which was the table Arbaz was sitting.

Arbaz was paying attention to Kifayat's words. He did not mean to eavesdrop but the girls talking was a bit loud. He was not very far from them so he could easily hear it when he pays a little attention. When he heard their talk, he was thinking if giving letters to someone really feels romantic. When he was contemplating about this, the scrambled tissue paper suddenly attacked him. Arbaz felt funny but kept a straight face. Kifayat apologizeed to him, he said it's okay and couldn't say anything more.

Kifayat went back to her table to sit, "it's all because of you. I am so embarrassed now."

"I just acted on my instinct. It is you who should not try to launch an attack on me."

"Hahaha, launch an attack. She just threw a tissue to you. You are calling it an attack. If someone doesn't know they would have thought you guys are fighting with firearms."

"Shut up." "Okay."

"But I think the senior is still angry? He replied so coldly to Kifayat."

"Senior?"

"You don't know. They are the recent pass out batch."

"Then should I go to apologize again?"

"You don't have to go. It's better not to disturb them."

The atmosphere became a little solemn. Kifayat and her friends left after finishing the dinner quickly. Arbaz and his friends also left after them. Arbaz looked at their leaving back, laughed after thinking of something.

His friend asked him about it. "Nothing I just thought of a way."

"Of what?"

Well.. Arbaz leaned closed to his friend and said, "it's a secret."

"You..."
