My Reward

I had been traveling for almost a full week when I finally could see the dark red clouds of my homeworld as we approached the end of this long journey.

As I looked outside of the transport ship that I was on I saw the fleet that surrounded this world. Each of the ship were beautifully designed in the shape of a battleship. At the top of the ship was a bridge with a lookout post and on the sides there were a variety of different types of turrets. Our technology had far surpassed that of The Terran Collective during this time of never ending warfare. We had created a set of heat seeking missiles which was good because none of our fighters or pilots did not emit body heat as Undead.

The ship stopped moving only a few feet front of the fleet before it was allowed to proceed.

I was in a restricted area that was reserved for pure blooded vampires and those who serve them only.

The room was so much better put together then the rest of the transport ship. This area had a purely white colored carpet on the floor that was made out of wolf fur. There was a long table that had a variety of meats and veggies on silver plates for me to eat the food.

After that I saw a golden chandelier that was lit by flame powered lights.

"We will be coming home soon my lady". An elderly looking undead turned vampire that was wearing simple farming clothes said to me as we came into the room and bowed at me.

"Good it is about time that I finally get my reward for passing The Right of Ascension without any kind of mistakes". I said to him.

Then after a bit of time I was able to see mini cities of our world before reaching the capital city out of the window. The city was a massive dome city. It was covered by a dark red energy dome that encased the entire city. Then I noticed that a small section of the dome opened long enough for us to get inside and the ship landed on a platform.

I quickly walk to the door of the end of the ship so that I could finally breathe in the air of my homeworld again since I had succeeded on my very first assassination mission off world.

As the door opened I was overwhelmed with a rush of excitement.

When I was able to see what was in front of me clearly I noticed that we had landed on a black landing pad that had red gems invented within the metal frame of it. I also noticed that there were two long collections of skeletal warriors that kneeled one by one as two pure-blooded vampires walked closer to the entrance of the ship.

"You have performed admirably. This is what I have come to expect from you as our greatest young and rising assassin." He said to me as I bowed my head to him out of respect.

"You may rise child". The female vampire said in a coming tone to me.

I rose back onto my feet and took a look at who was in front of me.

The people that I saw in front of me were actually my grandparents. As the eldest in our family they held all of the responsibilities and most of the political issues that we had to deal with when facing other households.

"I live to serve The Undead Council. It is my goal in life to bring honor to our family." I said to my grandfather after looking at him and waiting for him to give me a moment to speak.

"Since you have now passed your right of Ascension your father wants to meet with you. Come with me to the study that is where he is located right now. Why don't you follow me there right away". he said to me as he waved his hand at me while he went walking into the main building that was beside the main house.

The house had a set of statues in front of it. I noticed that there was a set of statues on both sides of the entrance archway. They were statues of the original two male members of my household.

One of the statues was much taller than the other one and they both wore battle armor. While one two statues had a book on it's right side the other one actually had a giant death scythe showing that these were of two completely different people and that they were supposed to have led different lifestyles.

"Now that you have completed your coming of age you will be given more responsibilities as well as get more freedom of movement around this world without any restrictions".

"Does that mean that I will get access to the Paradisus vault?" I asked him out of curiosity as we had made it to the study.

"Yes you do gain access to that. Your future awaits you my granddaughter bring honor to the family name an hour trade as the family of assassins." My grandfather said to me as he left me alone with only the door to separate myself from my father.

I was able to feel knots in my stomach since meeting my father usually meant punishment not reward even though I knew I had succeeded on my mission.

Then I grabbed the giant brass knob of the door and pushed it open and saw my father sitting at his desk with a tablet in his hand that he was swiping through all of the information on it.

The room felt quite intense as if there was an invisible barrier in front of me that was not allowing me to move one inch forward. What was this feeling was it the fear that was in my stomach about what my father might possibly do; or was it the excitement that I was feeling due to my success and the rewards I was supposed to be earning soon.

It was very dark in the room except for a massive chandelier that was in the center that was used to light the rest of the room. On all three walls I saw a variety of different drawers and computers that went all the way up to the ceiling.

The only area that did not have any tech in it was the bathroom area as if this room was designed for my father to never leave it.

"You have succeeded in passing your Right of Ascension. Due to the success daughter you have earned the right to become a full-fledged member of this household." He said to me as he put down his tablet and looked up at me.

I stood still as if I was at attention out of respect since he was still my senior even though I was about to become a full-fledged member of this house just as I had dreamed of becoming ever since the day I was born.

"Now that you have passed this you will be following me to the basement of the house where you will get your very first personal servant as a reward for becoming a true member of the house." He said is he rose to his feet and started to walk out of the study.

I followed him out of the study and down to the end of the hallway until there was a staircase. It was covered by a red energy barrier which my father deactivated by placing his hand on the hand scanner that was to the right of it.

The staircase was dimly lit by some gas powered lanterns that only made it clear enough to see about two steps down at a time.

When I made it to the bottom of the stairs I saw a set of cages that contained a large variety of different human prisoners which somewhat shocked me since I had never seen this part of the house before.

"Father if you do not mind me asking why do we not have any cyborg or Demetra prisoners here?" I asked out of curiosity as we were walking to the door at the end of the hall of containment cells.

"Well as you know daughter the demetric DNA is very complex and trying to turn one of those disgusting creatures requires way too much will power for even the best and strongest of our race to control when punishment was needed so we stopped doing that over 300 years ago.

The cyborgs became an issue due to the fact that they are not entirely organic so their mechanical parts would allow them to resist so we decided to stick with purely Terran subjects."

Then he opened the door and I saw a glass wall separating us from a set of human captives that were all lined up as if they were about to be executed. I was able to also see a pair of skeleton guards that had long swords on there sides and stood there on both our sides of the set of prisoners.

"Do I have to choose from this lot?" I asked as I looked at them.

"Yes these are the group that you will be choosing from for your first servant". He said with a serious look as he closed the door behind him.

The first human was a male that looked quite middle-aged and had a full grown beard that was wild and rampant as if he had never taken care of it before getting captured. He was also about five feet eight inches and average build.

The second person was about 4 ft in height and had white hair and she was a very small and skinny build as well as elderly.

The third person that I saw was quite young they were actually only about 12 years old and had a very dark tan. Their hair was blonde and they had a lost their sight in both of their eyes since I was able to see cataracts in front of them.

The final human was a middle-aged female who was well built and had black dreads for hair. She was quite tall and hand on a red dress which meant she was most likely a woman of high society before getting captured.

"Well do any of them look like someone that you want to turn. The person that you choose to turn will be your servant as well as your assistant while you are on your missions so choose wisely". My father said.

Well as I was thinking about all of the different scenarios that certain types of individuals would help fit into my plans; I ended up choosing to go along with the elderly female since I felt something about her that I knew would be helpful to me unlike all of the others.

"Yes Father I have chosen the elderly female". I said to my father in quick response so that he knew that I was serious about my decision.

"You hurt her". My father said in a tone of seriousness. "You know what to do with the rest of them".

After my father spoke I saw that all of the other humans that I had not chosen were pulled away from the room through a door on the left side of the room.

"Now I want you to take your new servant to your private quarters and turn her. Your mother will be there to instruct you on how to do that." He said to me as he looked at me with a look of approval.

Did I make the right kind of decision or did I end up choosing a servant who would betray me and kill me only the future would be able to tell me that and since I didn't have access to any Paradisus yet I was not able to foresee the future at all yet.
