Chapter 23: First Mission!

Isaiah appeared in Kamar-Taj. However, instead of his room, he appeared in his private classroom. And as expected, his teacher was in the classroom. Even without the eye of Agomotto, she had a way of knowing what he did. Isaiah saw her sipping her tea as if she was waiting for him.

"Hello, Teacher," he said.

"Hello there Isaiah. How was your trip?"

"It was fun! I even brought food for you!" the boy said as the table was filled with different kinds of food. From chilly dogs to cookies. Every type of food he could get his hands on was there. The woman had a perplexed expression that Isaiah noticed.

"Is there something wrong teacher? Did you not like it?"

The woman shook her head,

"Not that I'm thankful, but how much did you spend, Isaiah?"

"Umm... Around two hundred?"

"You spent two hundred on food?"

Isaiah slowly nodded.

Fiona held the bridge of her nose.

"*Sigh* Isaiah. When I told you to spend your money however you want., it does not mean that you have to splurge it."

Isaiah tilted his head in confusion.

"Huh?"

The woman shook her head,

"Nevermind for now. I'll explain later. Continue with your story."

Isaiah then told her about visiting the Jacksons and then finding his old home.

"You say that your old home was occupied, but no one lives there?"

The boy nodded,

"Yeah. It was too clean to be abandoned and the neighbour said that no one lived there."

"What about him? Did he recognize you?"

"No. He just told me that I reminded of... well... myself."

The Ancient One stood silent as she observed the boy.

"Would you like to see them?" she asked after the moment of silence.

Isaiah shook his head,

"I don't think so. I don't have any memories of them and I don't want to disturb them."

His teacher looked into his eyes before nodding.

"Alright then. Now, have you figured out a solution for your problem?"

"Not yet, but I'm sure I'll find it in Solomon's notes."

"Very well."

"Then, I'll go study them," Isaiah said.

"Then, I wish you luck in your endeavour," Fiona said.

Isaiah left the classroom and went to his room. He soon went to his table and accessed his ring. He opened his eyes in the familiar room. The first thing he saw was the mountain of riches. On the side, he saw the huge library. He scanned the library as he tried to search for something useful. It helped that he instantly know what item was what because of the ring.

"Ars Goetia... Medicine... Potions... Herbs and Alchemy... Mana?"

Back in the real world, he opened his eyes and saw a rather large book in front of him. The title simply said Mana in Hebrew.

The boy opened the book and started reading it.

[Mana. Such a mysterious and miraculous energy. Unlike borrowed power, this one came from within myself. It may have also been a gift from the Lord. I have first discovered this energy when I was but a child. I knew I was different from the others. Over the years...]

Isaiah realized that this was like Solomon's journal, but this book was dedicated to mana.

[After countless research, I have found the source of mana. This body of mine has a spiritual vessel system that produces said mana. Just like blood, my heart produces and pumps the mana through the system after passively absorbing it from the atmosphere. It is interesting since only I can sense the mana in the atmosphere. It should not be confused with Universel energy.]

'That's where he and I are different. While he has something like a cardiovascular system for his mana in his physical body, I have a nervous system in my soul. But is the energy itself different?'

Isaiah continued to read the book. After an hour he finally stumbled upon something interesting.

[I have discovered that mana can control can be converted into elements. In this universe, there are four basic elements: Fire, Water, Earth, and Wind. In those four elements, there are multiple sub-elements such as Ice, Lightning, Lava and many more. However, I have discovered a new basic element or more like I rediscovered it since not everyone can perceive it. It is the mana. The magical particles composing mana are a whole new element. The magical particles from the mana combine with the other natural elements to create magical phenomena called spells. These particles will be the fifth basic element in magic.]

"Is he talking about Ether, the Fifth Imaginary Factor?"

Isaiah shook his head,

"No. Ether is a magical particle formed after the Age of Gods in that world. This world is different and the magic systems are also different."

'But my mana system is the same as that world."

At that moment, Isaiah facepalmed and groaned.

'I'm so stupid! Why do I have to separate them? Just because I have a different mana system does not mean that the mana itself is different. Only my method of producing mana is different.'

He continued to read the book and arrived and stopped when he saw an interesting chapter title.

[Elemental Manipulation]

[To control the elements using mana, one must fully understand said elements.]

'That's it?'

Isaiah looked at the page, but there was only one sentence on the page.

"Where's the rest of it?"

He looked through the book but found nothing.

'What does Solomon mean by understanding the element? Am I supposed to study for example fire to control it?'

He was about to look through his ring for more information when he heard his teacher's voice.

'Isaiah, will you please come to the training ground.'

Startled, he asked,

'Is something wrong teacher?'

'You will know when you come.'

Isaiah noticed the serious tone of his teacher.

'Ok, Teacher.'

The boy put the book away and made his way to the training ground. There he saw his teacher with two other sorcerers. He recognized Wong. The other sorcerer was a woman named Tina Minoru. They both nodded at the boy and turned their heads to the Sorcerer Supreme.

"I'm here, Teacher," the boy said with a bow.

"Good. Now that everyone is here. We can begin." The teacher said.

Isaiah had a confused look, but he remained quiet and listened to his teacher.

"I have a mission for you three."

"A mission?" the boy asked with excitement.

If this was true, this would be his first mission ever!

"Yes. If you accept, you will be going with Master Wong and Master Minoru. Master Wong will be the team leader."

"I accept!"

The Sorcerer Supreme held a hand up.

"Now, hold on a minute. Listen to the details first then give your answer," she said and the other two let out small chuckles.

"Oh, right. Sorry." the boy apologized with a sheepish smile.

The woman smiled before schooling her expression as an aura of seriousness settled. The other masters also adopted the serious look and Isaiah realized that this was no time to joke around. The woman then spoke,

"There has been a series of disappearances in England. People have been disappearing without any cause and there was no lead to them."

"When did the disappearances begin?" asked Wong.

"It started in January. At first, it was nothing. We let the local authorities deal with it. However, up until now, they found no clues which lead to the victims. Throughout January, there have already been 20 victims all ranging from the age of 16 to 25." she said as she conjured a pile of papers.

"I may be rude to ask, but why are we getting involved? Is the problem something magical in nature?"

"I am not sure if it's magical or not. However, the orb of Agomotto has noted a peculiar situation in the universe."

The master sighed,

"Another realm will soon cross paths with our own."

"What!" exclaimed Wong and Tina.

"Hm?" let out Isaiah.

"As you all know. Just like a solar system, the realms of the universe are ever-changing and ever-moving although they don't have a fixed pattern. Even though they are extremely rare, the realms sometimes cross paths with each other. It is at that moment that the time difference between the realms is null. It usually lasts from a few minutes up to a full day. For example the Convergence of the Nine Realms. There is an exception and that's the Mirror Dimension as it overlaps with our world."

"What's the Convergence of the Nine realms?" asked Isaiah and the other masters nodded as they also had the same question.

"It's normal that you haven't heard of it since it's a once in a blue moon thing. The Convergence is a cosmic event where the nine realms or planets, it depends on how you look at it, of Asgard align themselves. It also occurs every five thousand years."

"So which realm is crossing paths with ours?" asked Tina.

However, the Ancient One shook her head,

"We don't know yet. We are still finding out."

"And you think the disappearance cases are related to it, Teacher?" asked Isaiah.

"I do believe it's an odd coincidence, why is why I'm giving you this mission. You three will investigate the source of the disappearance and report it to me. Will you accept this mission?"

"I will!" answered Wong with determination.

"So will I!" added Tina.

They all looked at the boy.

"And you Isaiah?"

Before Isaiah could answer, Tina spoke.

"Master. Is it wise to send a child to this mission?" she asked.

Fiona looked at her before turning her gaze to Wong,

"What do you believe, Master Wong? Do you believe it is unwise to send Isaiah?"

The Asian man looked at Isaiah before looking at the woman,

"I believe there is a reason for calling Master Sharpe therefore I will trust the Ancient One's decision."

The woman nodded and turned to Tina,

"Does that answer your question, Master Minoru?"

The younger girl bowed,

"Yes and I apologize for my rudeness."

Fiona shook her head,

"Never apologize for doubting something, Master Minoru for it is by doubting everything humanity evolved."

"Yes, Master!"

She then turned to the boy,

"So Isaiah, will you take this mission?"

Isaiah nodded with a huge grin,

"Yes, Teacher!"

Fiona mirrored his expression,

"Good, then we will meet in front of the Orb of Agomotto tomorrow at 1:00 PM after eating lunch," she said and everyone left after bidding her farewell.

Isaiah was also about to leave when he heard his teacher's voice.

"Isaiah."

The boy turned around,

"Yes, Teacher?"

"How do you feel about your first mission?"

The boy gave her an excited smile,

"I feel excited. I can't wait to go out!"

The woman nodded,

"I know, but what do you feel about the disappearances?"

Isaiah now looked confused,

"What do you mean, Teacher?"

"I'm asking if you have any thoughts about people disappearing?"

Isaiah now looked utterly confused at what his teacher wanted to ask him.

"I'm sorry, Teacher. But I don't understand your question."

Fiona sighed,

'I guess it's still a work in progress.'

"It's okay, Isaiah. You'll understand later. The other thing I wanted to ask is if you had any other vision?"

"What type?"

"The one that gives you knowledge."

Isaiah then shook his head,

"No, I didn't have any vision."

The woman patted the boy's shoulder,

"That's alright. What about the other type of vision? The one where you were tasked to complete something."

"I didn't receive anything from that type either."

"Very well, be sure to tell me if something comes up, okay?"

"No problem, Teacher!"

Fiona smiled,

"Good, now you may go back to your room."

"Okay, Teacher! Bye!"

"Bye, Isaiah. See you tomorrow."

The woman smiled and waved at the boy who disappeared from the view. Once he was no longer in sight, she slowly lowered her hand and her smile turned into a frown.

'If the realm is what I think it is, then it will be a huge problem. I must protect this realm at all costs and let the realms continue on their course without any problem.' she thought before returning to her search for answers.
