Regardless, he was relieved to have both Darwin and Endymion by his side. He had a weird inkling things might be picking up in the near future. He didn’t know how he reached that conclusion. It might be his intuition. Or he might just be paranoid. Whatever the reason, he was glad he wouldn’t be alone in dealing with the cases. 12
“Endy!”
Endymion was standing in the garden in his front yard in the late afternoon, contemplating what plants would be best for the upcoming season, when he heard a familiar voice. He turned toward the gate before breaking out into a wide grin. “Mag! It has been a while.”
Magdalene opened the door and made her way inside. She beamed at Endymion. “Indeed. How have you been?”
Endymion chuckled. “Same old. Come into the house. I’ll make us some tea.”
“Sounds perfect.”
