chapter 8 FRIENDS

Back at the cabin, a horse came right in front of the cabin and Davis stepped down, He knocked at the door And was welcome by a huge muscular man,it was Jeremiah.

"Greetings,this is a letter from the young Prince Xavier"Davis said, without waiting for a response, He got on his horse and rode away.

"What was that love?"Margaret asked in a worried tone.

"A letter from the young prince "Jeremiah said carrying the letter to the dining table where Margaret sat they open it and read the content inside, they both found out that the letter was actually from Athena.

Margeret let out a sigh of relief "Thank goodness Athena is safe"She said and Jeremiah gave her a look of disappointment.

"Athena again,Margaret let me ask you do you even care about Rose, she is also your daughter for crying out loud"Jeremiah said angrily.

"Love, of course I care about Rose,how would you ask such a thing?"Margret said.

"But you care about Athena more"Jeremiah said and there was no response from Margeret."Rose is your last born,Athena can take care of herself however Rose is just a baby"Jeremiah yelled.

"Enough Jeremiah,I have heard enough,are you seriously asking me to choose between my two children in a time like this?"Margeret yelled also In disbelief, Jeremiah was silent and then he turned away, running his fingers through his hair ,however Margeret wasn't going to let this slide she walked and stood Infront of him with tears glistening in her eyes."I love Rose and you know that, I also appreciate the love you showed to my Athena but it's obvious the love you have for Rose is so much more than the love you have for Athena because she is your real child and Athena is not.They are both my children,if I don't care for Athena who will?"Margeret asked as the tears she was trying hard to hold in came rolling down her cheeks.

"Athena is the daughter of the ruthless emperor of the Dragon empire,he only has sons and males can not control the dragons,if he found out he has a daughter he will take her away from me,and on the other hand Cranes empire and Dragon empire has been enemies for a long time,if King Aaron finds out that she is the daughter of his enemy,he will behead my baby girl...so how do you expect me not to care more for Athena,she is not safe anywhere!!"Margret explain in a pained tone.

"Love am sorry,I didn't mean to..."

"Just...Don't touch me "Margeret said wiping her tears and walked out of the cabin slamming the door behind her while Jeremiah hit his head on the wall hard in regret for spouting out nonsense.

"Red haired"Xavier called, nothing could ruin her mood except that voice.Athena groaned when the prince approached her with his hands behind his back.She nearly burst out in tears just at the mere sight of him and her smiles instantly turned upside down.

"Your highness,Good day"Athena greeted with a bow,he ignored her greetings and grabbed her hand dragging her with him as he ran.The maids walking around cleared the road and watched as the Prince ran off dragging Athena behind him.They went to the palace stables where the horses were kept.

"Why are we here your highness?"Athena asked.

"Do you know how to ride a horse?"He asked.

'No silly Prince how do you expect someone like me to ride a horse?'She ranted inwardly."No your highness"She said.

"I'll teach you"Xavier said simply.

'More like torture of a lifetime'She said inwardly, while rolling her eyes.

"I humbly decline your highness"Athena said and turned to leave.

"Please"Xavier said and Athena halted without turning back,was she daydreaming or did he actually say the word 'please'?

"I haven't been good to you and I didn't let you out of my sight,my reason was because I want to be your friend."Xavier said bowing his head down slightly.She blinked twice and this time she turned her gaze to him.

"Friend?"She asked and he nodded.

"I want to make it up to you"Xavier said with a serious look on his face which meant he was being sincere.

"No,I don't want to be your friend"Athena said and turned to leave again, Xavier ran and cut Infront of her grabbing her hand harshly.

"Why!?"He asked,then her gaze travelled down at the hand he was holding. He noticed and slowly pulled away. She held her wrist and glared at him.

"This is why" She said and made her way out of the stables.

I have no friends,I have brothers but they don't care about me,I know kids my age but they run when they see me,I can't control my temper and am sorry for hurting you,but ever since I met you ,I've always enjoyed your company...I understand if you don't want to be my friend but please don't judge me."Xavier said and Athena froze she had literally just seen another side of the prince she didn't know existed,did he just say the word 'I'm sorry' his words went directly to her heart she could hear the sadness in his voice.

"Fine,I'll be your friend,but on one condition"Athena said walking back to him."Do not act rude on anyone else and stop being the temperamatic prince that you are...whatever that word means I heard it from Madam Lisa"Athena said with a shrug.

"Deal."He said all smiles,he outstretched his hand for a handshake,she smiled then shook his hand."Don't expect me to be so polite now."Athena said.

"I won't expect a thing Red-haired"Xavier said and climbed up on his horse and he hauled Athena up.
