Chapter 16: The Other Side

Kaite's P.O.V.

I was sitting in my living room when someone knocked on my door. I got up and walked to the door and opened it. One of my hunters was at the door. "Hello Miss. Reed. Sorry to disturb you so late, but your brother missed his call." I nodded my head. This has happened a few times, but not one in a while, so I didn't want to over react."Okay get the team ready, we leave at first light tomorrow."

"Okay ma'am. Do you want me to get some of the other lycans to bring with us." "No, I don't think that will be necessary." As he turned away I called out to him. "Oh and Ethan you are with me tomorrow." He just nodded his head then went to get everything ready.

I was driving to Canton, Montana with Ethan in my truck and two SUV's behind us. I sent the SUV's to go to the house outside of town, so I checked the house in town. I pulled into the driveway and got out of the truck.

Canton did really look like a nice town, too bad it is full of monsters. I looked at Ethan. "I wonder why Bryce didn't answer the phone." Ethan kept looking around, but still answered. "I bet it has something to do with that mutt Cain. Maybe he finally snapped." I hated it when the hunters would talk about my lycans like that.

I raised my lycans myself. They are very loyal to us. "We are not going to think like that." We walked into the house. I checked the down stairs while Ethan checked upstairs. There was no one in the house. My phone started to ring, I answered it. "Hello." "Yes Miss. Reed. We found Bryce. I am sorry ma'am he is dead. It looks like he was killed by a lycan and Cain's body is nowhere in the house."

I rushed out of the house yelling. Not at anyone in particular I was just really upset. "I AM GOING TO KILL CAIN IF IT IS THE LAST THING I DO." Ethan and I got in the truck and headed to the other house. I wanted to see my brother's body with my own eyes.

When we pulled up to the house I got out of the truck and headed for the front door. Luke walked out. "Miss. Reed I really don't think you want to go in there." I didn't say anything, just pushed passed him and into the house.

I looked around the house not believing what I was seeing. My brother was laying on the ground with blood all over him. Claw marks on his face and side, but that didn't kill him. I looked at his throat, it was torn out. I turned around and faced Luke.

"Who was the lycan he captured?" Luke answered. "His papers say her name is Alexa. I have sent a team to search the town." "Okay and I want someone in the school to." Luke nodded his head and left.

It has been three weeks since Bryce was killed. Luke told me he had Daniel's son in school looking for Alexa and Cain. I knew Daniel's son wasn't done with training yet, but I didn't want to put someone new in school because then someone would get suspicious.

My phone started to ring. I picked it up and saw Daniel was calling. "Hello." "Yes hello Miss. Reed. I have good news." "What is it?" "My son just called, he said Alexa and Cain showed back up at school today." "Okay I will be there as soon as I can." I hung up the phone and called Ethan. "Ethan get the teams ready, we leave as soon as we are packed." "Yes ma'am." I hung up the phone.

I was on my way to Canton when Daniel texted me. 'I think they took my son. He is not answering my calls.' I didn't respond "Ethan go to Daniel's house we have a slight change in plans." As we pulled up in Daniel's driveway he walked out and met us.

"Miss. Reed" I looked at him. "Please call me Katie." "Okay Katie. Right this way." We went inside then to his dining room. He had a map laid out on the table with a few marks on it. Daniel spoke. "Okay. This is what I have found: the lycan Bryce had her name is Alexa Wood. Her parents own two houses."

I spoke. "Okay I will send a team to the one in town and you take Luke with you to the one outside of town." Daniel looked at me. "And what are you going to be doing?" I stepped closer to Daniel and looked him straight in the eyes. "I am going to be here making some calls and getting this ready in case this goes south."

He didn't say anything. I looked at Ethan. "Call Luke and tell him I will get the other team ready." Ethan nodded then went to the other room. After I got off the phone and sent the team to the house in town Daniel and Luke were leaving to go to the one outside of town.

It has been two hours since Daniel and Luke raided the house outside of town. I tried calling but he wasn't answering. Ethan and I are on our way to the house. When we got there the SUV was still parked outside.

We got out of the truck and walked to the door. It was slightly opened. Ethan stopped me and pulled me back. "Let me go first. We don't know who is still in there." I nodded. Ethan pulled a gun from his side and held it up as we walked in. We saw Luke dead in the hall. I went to make sure he was dead while Ethan checked the rest of the house.

I reached down to check his pulse. He was dead. I stood up and looked around. There was a lot of broken stuff. At least I know Luke died fighting. Ethan yelled from downstairs. "Hey Katie you need to come here." I walked downstairs.

When I got there I saw Daniel tied to a chair. Ethan cut his hands free. His hand went up and touched his swollen and bruised jaw. "Daniel. What happened?" He looked over at me.

"Alexa told me to tell you that Cain did kill Mr. Reed and the man upstairs. That the lycans will win this war, and you will not live to see the end. That her and Cain have left town and don't bother looking for them, because you will not be able to find me till I want to be found. I kept Sebastian as collateral if you do anything that looks like you are trying to find me I will kill him. Do not worry you will hear from me again soon."
