They walked down the path of cobblestones.
It was a serene dawn, perfect to fall asleep under the shade of lush green trees and feel the cool breeze pass by.
Aesther was distracted by the fluttering blue butterflies.
Ezrahl seemed lost in his thoughts as well.
A while later, they reached a courtyard. There was a small pond of clear blue water in the centre, surrounded by bushy wild flowers—all of them breathing alive under the caress of the sun.
The air smelled sweet from nearby blooms and wild herbs, making it feel as if all the troubles of the mind could ease away.
Agyn was planting water lilies near the pond, as soon as Aesther and Ezrahl neared, she smiled in greeting but did not lift her eyes.
"It's been a while, dear luna. I hope you enjoyed Red Pearl. The Alpha sent a letter last night."
Aesther waited for her to continue, but couldn't shake a strange feeling in her stomach.
