Aurora's POV
As the words left Jessica’s lips, the entire atmosphere of the pack changed. The once smiling faces and giggles in the background were now grim and hollow. They looked at me and Dillion as the enemy and Jessica as the victim. She was a victim, but she wasn’t the only one. I didn’t know.
This was no longer about my personal life being put on display for the rest of the pack, it was a lover’s quarrel. This was between mates, and no one could help. It was up to them to figure it out.
Liam took my hand and guided me back into the house. I couldn’t feel my legs move, I was shocked, and my mind was stuck replaying Jessica’s words. She was Dillion’s mate and he rejected her for me. He had known my fear of being rejected by someone who wasn’t my mate and he protected me from feeling that pain. He protected me but hurt her and hurt himself. I’m sure it wasn’t easy for him to turn his mate away.
“Here, drink this,” Liam said.
