Guess who I had dinner with.... Your Mermaid (3)

Marcus pulls up to a Hotdog stall and they get out. They ordered two dogs with the works, two sodas, and two orders of fries.

They sit down to eat and get to know each other.

"So tell me about yourself since I told you about me." She said.

"As you know I help my Older brother run his empire. I specialize in computer security. I live with my brother and neice." He said.

"Where did you learn your trade?" She asked.

"I graduated from MIT. Why did you grow up in an Orphanage?" he asked.

"I was eight when the building we lived in collapsed. Mom and Dad and my little brother were at home. 18 people died that Day. I happened to be at school so I was safe. We had no other relatives so I was sent to the Orphanage." She explained.

They finished eating and she gave him the address for the convenient store.

She said good night and went in to start her shift.

How could he find a way to get closer to this wonderful girl. When he got home his brother was trying to calm Lily down.

"Lily stop this right now. Sarah is not that bad. Give her a chance to prove it." he said through a locked door.

"What's going on?" Marcus said.

"I need to travel out of town for a few days and I wanted Lily to stay with Sarah and get to know her better. Sarah apologized for getting upset at what Lily said to her and wants to make it up." Harrison said.

"You will never learn. I'll take care of Lily while you are gone." Marcus said.

"No, she needs to grow up and stop acting like a child."

"She is only six, she is a child. A child her age does not lie about what happens. Sarah is the evil one lying here when are you going to see that." Marcus says.

"I know you don't like Sarah either but she is who I choose to be with and who I want to take care of my daughter so but out." Harrison said.

"I give up. I promised my sister-in-law I would always look after you and her child but you are determined to push your own child away. I just hope when you meet her again you will not regret what you are doing to Lily."

"Get her out of the bathroom" he yells.

Marcus walked over and knocked, "Hey red, open up, guess who I had dinner with.... Your Mermaid."

The door opened and Lily ran into his arms. "Really did she ask about me?" Lily said.

He could see she had been crying but at the mention of the Mermaid she was all smiles.

"Yes, she gave me a message but I can't tell you until you are ready for bed." he said.

She then pushed him away and ran to her room.

"That is how you do it." He said.

"Did you really have Dinner with the Mermaid?" Harrison asked.

"Yes, her name is Ariel. She is also a life gaurd at the club. Did you know she holds down six jobs." he said.

"Be careful, girls like that are looking for easy money then." he said walking to his room.

"Not this girl." he said to himself.

Lily got into her night gown and was waiting for her uncle.

"What did the Mermaid say?" she asked.

"Ariel said to tell you she was very happy to meet you and was glad she shared her birthday with you." He said.

"Really"

"Yes, really. I was thinking, Ariel likes the human world a lot and your dad thinks you need a girl around. What if we got her to be your nanny. She could still work at the park on friday and saturday but take care of you all week long. We could give her the old nannies room."

"I would love that. Would daddy agree. He wants Sarah to take care of me but I would rather die." Lily said with a pout on her face.

"Leave it to me." he smiled and kissed her good night.

Then he knocked on his brother's door.

"Come in." Harrison said.

"I don't want to fight with you or make you feel bad. If Sarah is what you want then so be it. Just don't force Lily right now. Let me hire another nanny to take care of her. That way she can have another female around. Then you and Sarah can do things together and get Lily use to the idea of Sarah being apart of your life."

"That's not a bad idea. Can you handle hiring one?" Harrison asked.

"Yes, I am very good a checking people out. I will hire the perfect one. Why don't you take Sarah with you on your trip and leave Lily to me." Marcus said.

"Ok, I'll trust your judgement."

Marcus now had to get Ariel to agree. He left the house and drove back to the convenient store to talk to Ariel.

Ariel had just finished stocking a shipment of snacks that had come in that day when Marcus came in.

"Welcome let me know how I can help." She smiled then noticed who it was, "Did you forget something?"

"I wanted to talk to you about a job." He said.

"I already have a job, do you want one?" She asked.

"I have a job that will be very beneficial for you. Lily needs a nanny. The work is full time. $2000 a month plus room and board. It would also allow you to keep your Mermaid job on Friday and Saturday evenings."

"Are you for real. $2000 a month It would take me three month to earn that. Are you sure you want me?" She asked.

"Yes, Lily likes you. She needs a strong woman in her life to show her how to survive. Someone to also protect her from her father and Sarah."

Ariel stopped and thought. This was a rare opportunity. She could save up for a better place. Maybe even save for some classes.

"When would I need to start?" She asked.

"Tomorrow night." He took out a card and wrote down an address on the back.

"Quit your other jobs tomorrow and come to this address at 5pm. Keep the job at the Aquarium having you work there would make Lily happy plus I got the impression you really liked that job. On the front is my phone number incase something come up." he said.

She agreed and he left thinking he was making more then one person happy with this arrangement.

Ariel for once felt that something good was coming her way. Was it fate that brought that little girl to her show and allowed her to meet this family.

She could not wait for things to finally go her way.
