In the Library

The thunder shook the glass windows causing everyone to jump. "It's...the rain..it should have stopped" Rain muttered in her sleep.

The lightning followed it, making rain tremble in her sleep.

"Mom...Mom...it's raining..where are you?" Rain mumbled in her sleep.

She felt someone brushing her hair softly.

"It's okay..you are okay" She relaxed listening to her Mom's voice. She felt her mom's hand over her necklace, as she was patting her back to sleep.

Her hand reached for her mom's, but she couldn't find it.

"Mom.." she whimpered

"You will remember it right..you have to find it..you are the only one" The words were barely whispered now.

"No... don't go away...mom...MOOOOOM"

Rain woke up screaming, almost falling on her arm when someone grasped her from the other arm.

Her eyes flew open and she looked around. She had fallen asleep on the bench of the bus stop. She didn't remember when. She had been tired from the last day and decided to take the bus instead of walking to the class. And while waiting for the bus to come, she decided to close her burning eyes for a while. And instead of a short break, it turned to a nap.

*So it wasn't the thunder but the horn of the bus, followed by the light from the headlights*

She felt a hold on her right arms and looked beside her in horror. She had forgotten that someone was holding her.

"Reid.." there was a hint of a smile on her face, but she didn't show a lot of excitement, even though she was happy to see him, happy to see a familiar face.

Reid was already grinning ear to ear. His hair was damped as if he had just taken a shower and he wore a blue hoodie with black jeans. Rain had already noticed a few girls swooning over his looks. But he was oblivious about it. He looked at Rain like a boy looking at his first toy car or his first action figure. Eyes shining brightly and the smile was too contagious.

*He was like the sun. Shining brightly and giving life to everything it touches. He would always be surrounded by people and praised. He could fill up any dull place with his charming demeanor and turn it into a party. but her..she was just like a comet. People might, and yes rarely, get excited about it for a few minutes, but as soon as it passes, they forget about it. There was no comparison.*

Rain thought to herself and then slowly looked at her arm, still in his grasp.

*What was it about him, that he always wanted to keep touching her*

"You okay? I guess, I am at fault here" Reid bit down his tongue and held his ears. Rain couldn't control herself from smiling this time.

"If you want, I could go on my knees..and.. apologies"

*He shouldn't know what just went from her head..No Rain that's a bad thought* Rain diverted her gaze instantly, she did know if he could see the blush on her face right now.

She didn't know what it was about him that she was filled with energy now. Maybe the fact that walking would give them time to talk, but from the bus, they would reach early. Without wasting another second, she got on her feet.

"It's...okay.I had.." Rain looked the other way as they started to walk.." had fun" she felt shy admitting it.

Her fingers on her locket, as she bit her lips. Suddenly she felt an arm that positioned her to the far end of traffic on the footpath. She thought that Reid would remove his arm from around her, but that didn't happen.

*What was it about guys that if they want to claim something they never ask? Either a friend or a lover..they just start acting like one. It's confusing...was Reid acting like a friend or a possible something?*

As soon as the class was in view, Rain tried to take a step away. But before she could do that, Reid's arm had gone down on its own. She was a little disappointed, but only for a second, as his hand then grasped hers, linking their fingers together.

"Never for a second think that I am letting it go" Reid whispered in her ear. His warm breath made her tingle everywhere. She almost closed her eyes before realizing where they were.

"Ummm...I have to get a book from the library. I haven't done my homework" Rain's face was full of panic when she heard a chuckle beside her.

"Don't worry, Angel. I will help" they both started moving towards the library.

Ace had walked in early for the second day now. He had already paid for his classes to be online, so he could spend his day in the library. It didn't take him much time to find out that the innocent maiden worked as a Library assistant, which means she will be there a lot here. And which implies that to talk to her, Ace had to be here too.

The library was too quiet as most of the students were in their classes at the moment now. Ace was dressed in his favorite color black, with a high neck sweatshirt and jeans. He was fumbling with the pages of a magazine about cars. The smell of the new pages, striking out from the smell of the rest of the library, which was filled with old books.

He groaned for the fifth time and looked at the old clock hanging on the wall. The librarian's head shot up to look at him, but he couldn't say anything. By now, he knew who Ace was. He shook his head and continued to work.

Ace stood up and stomped his foot.

Lily wasn't here.

He knew she would come as she works here, but he was getting impatient. He started exploring the sections in the library. The nonfiction section was pretty much filled with books he had already read growing up.

He started walking towards the section which he found mostly boring, as the words written in such books were never true. Fairytales didn't exist, there is no vampire, or Werewolves, or a time machine. He chuckled to himself as his fingers started tracing the bindings of the books.

A sudden thunder and the library were basked in darkness.

He shook his head and continued to look for any book, he could get, when his eyes fell on a pretty thin book among the thick ones.

"Aha," he exclaimed in joy and started to pick the book when he felt resistance.

"Who's there? I picked it first" He started to take it out again but couldn't.

"Maybe...but I need this book" there was a bit of familiarity in that voice. He has recently heard it.

"Who are you?" He tried to look but it was too dark to make out who was standing on the other end.

"Umm...I am getting late..could you just"

"I know you" it suddenly dawned on Ace. It was the little girl he had met yesterday.

Rain felt a hand on her shoulder and suddenly jumped up. She missed the last words said by the stranger.

"I have this book with me. We can go now" Reid whispered trying to not make much noise. He kept a finger on his lips and held Rain's hand, taking her out of the library quickly.

As they stepped out, Rain looked at Reid and raised her eyebrows.

"I thought you might be scared in the dark so I came in, when I noticed the book you wanted, I remembered that it's with me" He smiled and she nodded her head.

"Oh..." Reid had started searching his bag when his face fell.

"I might have left it at home" Rain could feel her pounding heart and face going bright red with worry.

She looked around feeling a few gazes on her. She knew that the Processor would make her stand up and ask her questions. She also knew that she won't be able to tell them and the class would get punished due to her. Which in turn, would make them angrier with her.

"I can't.." before she could complete her sentence, Reid had already taken her hand and was now taking her out.

"I don't want to be a bad student in my first class now, do I?"Reid smiled and his smile made Rain forget her worries.

*Sometimes when we can't stop the rain from falling on someone, we stand in the rain with them*

*Okay, maybe guys weren't that complicated. They would do small things because they can never tell you how they feel. We just have to notice them*

Rain thought and smiled. The rain might have only been there for a few seconds, as the sun was shining brightly now. She didn't know what she preferred more, the cloudy sky or the brightening sun?

"You have never done Rock climbing, have you?" Reid asked with a cheerful smile.

Rain shook her head already knowing where this was going. She tugged on her hoodie and looked down.

Reid's arm was again around her as they started walking "Let's do it then.we have time till the class is going on"

When a charming boy, who is a bit crazy about cars, asks you to go Rock climbing, you don't say no.

Rain wanted to tell Reid that she was curious to see how many advice slips were in the bird box, that she wished to curl up under a blanket and watch a rom-com movie or mess up a song while she sings along with the artist while going to a fair. She wanted to tell him that, but at that moment she thought she was happy, happy doing what he likes, because she had started to like his company and that she wouldn't mind not doing the things she liked, because she didn't know if they would have a chance to do it again.

She nodded her head and they both were at the mall within a few minutes after a bus ride.

Both have been given proper dress for rock climbing, wearing a loose tee and shorts along with the shoes.

"I...I am pretty scared," Rain said, looking at the wall in front of her. Two strong hands gripped her shoulders and massaged them lightly.

"Okay girl, now listen to me," Rain nodded, her head focused on the wall in front of her.

"First, keep your arms straight, to avoid strain and save energy."

"Arms straight, okay"

"Then be aware where you keep your feet. As much as the placement of our hands is important, so is the feet"

"Hmmm, feet"

"And finally" Reid moved a little bringing himself in front of her and placing his hand under his chin, lifting it so she looks in his eyes, "finally..never give up"
