Ellie
The moment Ellie realized that it was 8:45, and she had been asleep for over six hours, she flew out the door from her bedroom into the hallway. “Shelby!” she shouted. “River! Where’s Michaela!” She headed straight for the nursery, which was the next room over, and her hand was about to turn the knob on the door when River’s arms came down around her.
“Hey, honey. I’m glad you’re up, but why are you yelling?” her husband asked in a whisper, pulling her back. “Everything is okay. Did you have a bad dream?”
“No, I’m fine,” Ellie told him, her heart still racing. “Is the baby okay?” She was still so confused.
“She’s fine. She’s asleep. Or… she was.” He had the baby monitor clipped to his belt loop. Pulling it off, he checked it. Ellie could see for herself that Michaela was in her bed. She was a bit restless, but her mother could see her, and she was fine.
