Jiang Fu's voice suddenly became very soft.
Perhaps it was because only the two of them were in the room, but it was too quiet, so the latter half of Jiang Fu's voice sounded stiff. Xie Cheng could hear a hint of bitterness in it.
Guilt welled up in him.
It seemed she called her grandmother like this because of him.
Xie Cheng opened his mouth but did not say anything.
Jiang Fu, on the other hand, looked frank. She took the brush from Xie Cheng's hand and said, "General, rest well. I'll take my leave first."
XIe Cheng was speechless.
Jiang Fu seemed to have thought of something and stopped. She turned around and looked at the food box on the table. "If you don't like the food, you can give it to the servants."
XIe Cheng was speechless.
He could only lean on the couch as he watched her put down the brush on the desk and leave slowly.
After the little girl left, the faint fragrance in the surroundings dissipated bit by bit.
It was a little empty.
Xie Cheng frowned and called someone in.
Shuo Feng came in quickly with the food made in the General's Residence's kitchen.
Shuo Feng placed the things on the table and glanced at the food box. "Is this from Miss Jiang?"
Xie Cheng leaned inside and did not speak.
Shuo Feng opened it and took a look. He was shocked.
He immediately looked up and said, "General, you won't eat what Miss Jiang sent, right?"
Xie Cheng looked up. "Yes, why not?"
Shuo Feng felt confused.
He stood in front of the table and glared at Xie Cheng through the curtain. He muttered softly, "I thought you didn't like her."
Xie Cheng looked up with a faint smile.
Shuo Feng was a little apprehensive under his gaze. He lowered his head and continued to mutter, "If you don't like her, why are you eating her food?"
Xie Cheng leaned there and said faintly, "It's for me."
Shuo Feng felt confused.
What did he mean? It was a gift. Why didn't he eat it?
Have you no shame?
-
After a while, Xie Cheng ate his food.
Emerald green onions floated on the milky-white fish soup, and there was delicious fish meat.
Beside them were two plates of side dishes, radishes, and a small plate of bean sprouts.
On the other side was a plate of exquisite vegetable flatbread, fried until it was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
It was fragrant.
Because of Xie Cheng's leg injury, the food sent by the residence over the past two days was very light.
Because of his injured leg, Xie Cheng was depressed, and his appetite was not good. Every time he received food, he would only take a few bites. But now…
Shuo Feng stood at the side and watched Xie Cheng finish the fish soup and the fish meat inside. There was not a single scrap of food left.
After Xie Cheng finished eating, he looked up and met Shuo Feng's complicated gaze.
Shuo Feng pursed his lips and walked over to clean up the dishes. As he cleaned up, he said, "Didn't Miss say that if you lose, you must apologize to Miss Jiang?"
He stopped what he was doing and asked, "General, have you apologized?"
Xie Cheng pondered for a moment. "I don't think so."
Shuo Feng continued to pack his things. "Go up and apologize later tonight."
A fair and soft face flashed across his mind. Xie Cheng was adrift for a moment before nodding. "Go pick something for her."
Shuo Feng was delighted. He was going to prepare a thank-you gift for Miss Jiang!
He suddenly thought of something and smiled brightly. "General, don't you have a piece of black jade? Why don't you give that to Miss Jiang?"
Xie Cheng looked up at him.
Shuo Feng smiled brightly. "I thought you didn't believe in that thing. Why? Don't tell me you don't want to give it to her?"
