It's still surprising how I didn't feel the fear nor the pain of physical attacks anymore. It seems like yesterday when I was drowning in agitation for my first death.
The hole was quite big and thus caused more blood loss. I better get some information quickly.
"Oh my, pardon me. I really despise beings who disregard my need."
Yeah, you don't say. From his sensible aura, it could be sensed that he was a guy with high pride. I had faced enemies like this in the past. Well, most high tier beings naturally have high self-esteem.
He did turn a deaf ear to my previous question as well. He really is going to be a pain in the ass to deal with, taking notice of his capabilities as well.
He continued to stare at me for a few seconds longer. Then, with his right hand pointed upward, he showed all five fingers. Suddenly, one of the fingers dropped down.
"Four."
Oh I see. He wants me to tell him my name until all of his fingers are down. Truly a smug way to demonstrate it.
"Three."
"I don't possess a name."
He looked at me with more suspicion.
"Two."
"I am speaking the truth. Once again, I do not possess a name."
"..."
He didn't believe me. At that rate, I really was going to die. I'm not concerned at all about death, but I do want to finish this quickly so it's best if I get as much valuable information as I can.
"One."
"Please wait a moment." I shouted.
"My death is certain to occur at any moment for I cannot answer your question . For my dyeing wish, I ask that you tell me your name."
He dropped his arm and fixed his gaze onto me.
"Is there a specific reason as to why?"
"No reason. If I'm going to die, I would like to know the name of my killer at least."
"Hmm, you are telling the truth however..."
"..."
"Why would I do that when it has no benefit for me?"
Huh. Makes sense I guess.
But, unfortunately for him, I hadn't given up hope.
"Are you not a prideful man? You won't even respect a dead child's wishes?"
Provoking him was the best choice.
"Hm, I do consider myself to be one so you have a good point."
"Have you...ever...considered..."
At that point because of blood loss I was on the verge of passing out. I only needed one last push.
"Please..."
I couldn't see well at that point. I fell to the ground, ready to die surrounded by my own blood. But at that last moment, I heard him say something.
"Bel... Qua..."
I couldn't completely hear it, but some of the words stayed in my mind as I died.
+++++++++++
I opened my eyes. My alarm clock was ringing, urging me to turn it off as quickly as possible.
With it in my hand, I got up, turned the alarm off and checked the time. It was 7:00 A.M.
I needed the date, the hour wasn't enough for me to grasp where I was.
I switched the clock from hour function to the date function.
"It's September 22nd. It's good that it worked this time."
When I got the curse to nullify the laws of time, it wasn't completely imprinted on my heart, causing it to have some malfunctions. Because of that, there are hinderances in the time that I go back to.
With the slight feeling of stress gone from my chest, I calmed down and sat on the bed.
I placed both of my hands on the sides of my head. It was a habit I developed when trying to think.
I had to think. That's what I always did to survive until now.
First of all, I wasn't planning on going to school because without my interference, the school will be attacked anyways. There's a high likely chance that this timeline wasn't going to be successful. The best I could hope for was to get some useful information out of it.
Let's see, when did the attack happen? The ceremony started around 8:30, so it's quite early. That was not pleasant for me to notice, as the time I had to act was short. On the other hand, my time travel ability doesn't work the way I desire all the time. In one timeline I could return to the middle of the ceremony, on the other I could go back days before the incident happen.
Whatever, I didn't care. I'd grown too worn out of overthinking. As long as I did my best and had a goal, I could survive. I could witness a knew moment, at least for her.
"..."
I pulled away the blanket from my legs.
"Hah..."
I needed to find out who the attacker was first. Luckily for me, I already had a higher up aid in the underworld.
I wondered around the apartment searching for her but unfortunately came out empty handed.
Aside from the house, there was only one more place where she could be.
"Looks like I need to go there again after a long time."
I followed my daily morning routine. Then I put on the special clothes that kept my body from burning to ashes by the flames.
I liked the suit. The shirt, coat and pants had a mix of red, blue and black color to it. The thing I liked most about it was that it was not too weird or uncommon looking.
I quickly wore it and after looking at the mirror to check if I was dapper enough to enter the castle, I went out of the apartment, heading for the gate.
The gate is the only pathway connecting the underworld and the middleworld. Originally it wasn't allowed to be opened by any being other than "the creator" itself, but unlike it's plans, a certain someone opened it six years ago causing other creatures to appear all around the middleworld, specially Earth. For that reason, the creator sent it's servants, notably the angels to observe their behavior in this world. Just in case something really unpleasant were to happen.
This problem could have been solved if the gates were to close again, but unfortunately even the creator can't do anything about it. The reason being unknown even to this day.
Whatever. I didn't want to remember that again. Never again. I had already moved on...
++++++++++
It took some time for me to reach my destination. The incident already occurred I assumed.
The gate was hidden from the naked eye of every possible being accept the creator. Fortunately I didn't have to see it as I remembered it's location.
The gate was constructed inside "the building" located on the outskirts of the city. The building was hidden too of course.
I reached the outskirts by bus after about half an hour. I was lucky to have enough charge on my bus card, otherwise I had to walk all the way there.
The first thing I needed to do was to check for any other people. If someone specially a normal human became suspicious after I disappeared in the middle of a street, it could lead to unnecessary trouble.
The houses windows, the road and the corners near the building were empty of any person.
Surprising actually.
- Why is no one here?
Could it have been because of the incident? I didn't detect any mana so I was relieved of the suspicion that something could be spying this area.
- I better head in quickly.

And after saying the chant, the parallel rectangle doors started to open.
I could feel the heat although I had at least a couple of meters distance from it.
After checking that I put on my special clothes properly for the 10th time (yeah, I counted), I took my first few steps towards the gate.
