The Hunter's Mate

I grew older knowing supernatural creatures. For example, I could tell a vampire if I see one. It was strange that I was more powerful than any of them. At first, I thought I was one of them but the more I studied about them, the more it gave me reasons to doubt that I was like them. I gave up trying to find the race I belonged to, so I went about my daily life living like humans. But my world began to crumble when I found my mate. He is a warlock of the witch's coven and one of the mermaid hunters. Through him, I started to find who I really am and my purpose on earth.

Chapter 41: To the party.

I tried on a lot of dresses to go to the night party and still couldn't settle on one. I looked at Stefan who didn't look happy since I was adamant I was gonna attend the party. He bluntly refused to take heed to me so I left him to prepare.

He stood up, and walked into the bathroom without a word for me. I find myself smirking and laughing inwardly at the silent treatment he was rendering to me tonight. I felt happy teasing him, lol it's been long I had this kinda fun.

A knock was heard at the door and I simply dropped my lotion to attend to the door. When I opened, I found Ava standing in front of me with one other girl. They looked ready in their beautiful knee length gowns. "Wow.." I exclaimed…

Ava popped her head in to see many dresses on the bed with nothing yet to wear. "I guess you find it hard to pick one of those over there." Ava said after looking at the dresses on the bed.

I paved the way for them to get in and they walked in. "Well, this is Diane, my best friend. Diane, this is…"

"Elena, I know." She mumbled with a smile. With no couch in the room, I let them sit on the bed while I turn toward the closet.

"You know, we are kind of late Elena. I think you should choose one already and where's Stefan?." Ava asked, looking round the room and instantly noticing his absence. I shrugged, "He's not coming with us." I announced absentmindedly looking at the red shoulder hand simple gown in my hand. This was a gown my mom got on my last year's birthday and I only wore it once at a family beach outing sometime ago.

I smiled as I remembered the memories of the once happy family gathering and sniffed back tears clouding my eyes. "I love this. Why don't you put it on?.* The other girl said. I nodded negatively and tried to put it back on the hanger but Ava stopped me. "If you like it, try it on and see how it looks on you." I looked at Ava and then at Diane while they both pleaded with their eyes, I gave up.

I want to admit that I have added a little weight by merely looking at the gown on my body. The gown which used to be free, leaving some space behind now clung to my body like a gum. I admitted it brought out some hidden shapes that I didn't notice I had under some old baggy shorts and pants I wore most of the time.

"This looks beautiful on you." Diane squealed, running her hands over my curves. "Uhm..thank you." I appreciated her and put on not too high heels under my feet.

Ava was done packing my hair and I was beginning to wonder what Stefan might be doing inside the bathroom. I had to step further and knocked lightly at the door. There was no response and as usual he might consider staying there for all I care. I do not know why a man like him could be so jealous.

He wanted me to stay indoors with him and laugh, gist, and talk. He doesn't like the fact that I wanted to settle and mingle with the girls in the clan.

I decided to knock this last time but the door opened, and Stefan walked out only on a towel. His wet curly hair slacked up to the side of his face and I stood transfixed to his supreme aura.

I was stupefied by this immensely enchanting man before me. He was appealing to both humans and nature. For a moment, I felt proud to have him. I looked behind me to see Ava and Diane drooling over my mate. What the!!.

I cleared my throat finding the nearest polite words to use. I finally decided to take my mate out of sight so I pushed him into the toilet and closed the door behind us.

"Why did you come out like that?." I whispered. He smiled and pushed me further to him so our bodies were clung together. "Are you jealous?, mate." He asked and I scoffed, "of?." I tried not to admit it.

"I know you are." As I wanted to defend myself, he pushed his middle finger to my mouth. "You look sexily adorable, mate." He said. I tried to hide my face so he could not see how I blushed deeply about this.

"This is the only dress I could wear, mom got this for me. Is it wrong?." I asked, feeling insecure about the dress.

"No..cutesy..baby..it's an amazing pick. Do not forget, you do wrong in all the right ways." I swallowed a spit as he simply put a hand under my chin, just as my lips were almost touching with his, a knock interrupted us. I smiled at him, "Be a good boy, I'll be back Stef."

He made a funny look. "Stef?." He asked, considering hearing this nickname for the first time.

I learned forward and kissed his right cheek before exiting the bathroom. I looked at the four piercing eyes of these two girls and it reminded me of Molly and Tyson.

"Your mate's fucking hot, dude. Damn those abs." Diana started, what?. "I'm sorry but he is really handsome, hey Diane, get that thought off your mind, he's taken." Ava said, pointing at Diane. I ignored both of them and walked ahead of them. I wished I knew where the party was held, I would just leave them behind.

All through our drive to god knows where, Diane couldn't stop talking about Stefan and how hot..blablabla he was looking on a towel. I try not to listen to any of those things and I pray she stopped when we reached the party arena. I wouldn't like too much attention on us, for fear of bad records, and partly, I became happy that Stefan didn't come with me.
