Eric's eyelids fluttered, and his muscles twitched. He awoke from his sleep, drenched in warm sweat. Exhausted despite having received plenty of rest, Eric was in a sour mood. He fell, landing headfirst on the ground beneath.

However, it wasn't the ground on which the office was located. It was a marble floor. Unlike the one he'd spent several hours reading in, this floor was a lot rougher. It was also dirty and plagued with the scent of insects.

Eric's eyes shot open at the unfamiliar texture, and he observed his surroundings. He wasn't in the office. Had he been kidnapped? By who? There was no one in the office, as far as he remembered.

His train of thought was interrupted when a low cry entered his ears. He quickly turned around.

"Who's there?" Eric asked, startled by the cry. His eyes searched the dark place, but he couldn't find anything or anyone. He was the only one there.
