A deluge of deadly projectiles rained down from the ominous sky, as a flurry of mages relentlessly unleashed their potent attacks towards the elusive goblin, providing the vanguard with just enough respite to regain their balance and retaliate. The three previously incapacitated soldiers rose to their feet, as Colt, Richard, and their four comrades leapt into action. The entire room was awash with the scorching flames of fire and the biting chill of ice, while the very earth itself began to convulse and quake, attempting to ensnare the singular goblin. With swords raised, Oliver, Carlos, and Maya charged forward, determined to distract or eliminate the wily goblin and nimbly dodging the lightning-fast bolts of the goblin girl.
"Hey you, what's your name!?" Raphael barked at one of the mages, his eyes blazing with ferocity.
"Me!?" The mage spluttered, taken aback.
"Yes, you! Hurry up and answer me!" Raphael demanded.
"My name's Arin!" The mage replied nervously.
"Arin, your job is to provide cover fire and distract that goblin lurking in the shadows! Shoot at her wherever you see her bolts fly!" Raphael commanded, his voice ringing with authority. "If our defensive protection magic sustains enough piercing damage, it could break!"
"Y-yes sir!" Arin replied, his hands shaking as he began to fire off rock projectiles in the general direction of the goblin.
The four vanguard members who had previously been incapacitated by the goblin's brutal attacks struggled to rise to their feet.
"Get Colt and Richard out of there, and let those three fight it out! They've taken enough blunt force trauma to their bodies, their bones are cracking, and their brains are shaking! Move them out of harm's way, quickly!" Raphael ordered.
The four vanguard members quickly rushed to drag Colt and Richard out of the battlezone, their muscles straining with the effort.
"Healers, we need help dealing with blunt force trauma, stat!" Raphael cried out urgently.
"We can't help right now, we have seven people who are bleeding out and in critical condition! Some arrows got past you and hit a few more people, puncturing major veins!" The healers replied in a panic.
The four vanguard members who had dragged Colt and Richard out of harm's way rushed back into battle at full tilt, their adrenaline surging and their determination burning fiercely.
"I'm up! Healers, mages, hey!!!" Colt yelled out, his voice hoarse with pain.
"What!?" The healers yelled back, their voices strained with stress.
"What!?" The mages echoed, their own nerves frayed to the breaking point.
"I need a blessing, a passive healing blessing, and high defense!" Colt cried out, his voice desperate.
"We can't give you all of that right now, we don't have enough resources and we're about to pass out ourselves," the healers replied wearily.
"I can bless you with an extra layer of defense, but with the force that goblin is putting on you, you'll just get knocked out and sustain even more breaks and tears in your bones and muscles!" Raphael interjected.
"Okay, how many more can you spare!?" Colt asked, his voice straining with exertion.
"I can spare two more!" Raphael responded.
Leaning over to ask the other mages, he added, "We can spare five more!"
"Cast them on me, hurry!" Colt ordered, his voice fierce and resolute.
As the battle raged on, Colt's lightning-fast reflexes were put to the test. Despite being distracted by the other seven vanguard members, he failed to notice the unique goblin sneaking up on him. However, his comrades were quick to react, casting a powerful defensive spell to shield him from harm.
With his defenses in place, Colt sprinted headlong into battle, eschewing the use of a sword. Instead, he relied on his own brute strength to take down his opponent. He landed a powerful kick to the unique goblin's calves, shattering the bone in Colt's leg but also sending his enemy crashing to the ground.
In a flash, the unique goblin retaliated, grabbing Colt's arm and squeezing it so hard that it shattered through two layers of defense. With an incredible show of strength, the goblin lifted Colt into the air and hurled him with all its might at a nearby wall. The impact was so intense that the wall cracked upon impact, leaving Colt battered and broken on the ground.
As Amelia urgently called out for more first aid supplies, Raphael suggested that they retreat from the battle. But Richard, ever the brave warrior, refused to give up without a fight. Rising to his feet, he charged towards the unique goblin with his sword at the ready.
Despite the vanguard's best efforts to distract the goblin with a barrage of projectiles, Richard managed to get close enough to strike. Using all his might, he swung his sword with deadly precision, slicing through the goblin's arm and stopping in the middle of its wrist.
But their victory was short-lived. As Raphael warned them that they were out of magic and couldn't provide any more support, the goblin retaliated with a powerful blow that cracked Richard's ribs and caused internal bleeding.
Suddenly, arrows began raining down on them from all sides. With no other choice but to retreat, Raphael urged his comrades to fall back and regroup. The mages quickly moved to assist the injured and the healers, while the vanguard members banded together and made a frantic dash through the winding halls of the second floor, desperate to make their escape back to the surface. Through the seas of people they exacuate the injured to the hospital.
---
Running from the darkness of the cave her yelling was heard once the adventurers had left teh cave "Dad, Dad are you alright!? Your hand is bleeding." the small goblin said crying to her father.
"Dont worry my darling, I am alright." The father said. "Anything to keep you safe." he said
They made their way back to their den deep within the second floor, as the father's injuries began to show. Blood dripped from his hand staining the ground beneath him. Once they reached their humble abode, the daughter tended to her father's wounds with a gentle touch. She cleaned the dirt and blood from his hand and wrapped it in a clean cloth. The father winced in pain but didn't let out a sound.
As she finished bandaging his hand, the daughter looked up at her father with teary eyes. "Why do they hate us so much, Dad? We haven't done anything wrong."
The father sighed and pulled his daughter into a warm embrace. "I wish I knew, my sweet child. But some people fear what they do not understand, and they do not understand us."
The daughter buried her head into her father's chest, tears streaming down her face. "But why can't we just live in peace with them? Why do we always have to fight and hide?"
The father stroked her hair gently. "I don't know, my love. But we must keep fighting to survive. And we must keep hoping for a better future, where we can live without fear."
The daughter sniffled and looked up at her father, determination in her eyes. "I'll fight too, Dad. I'll fight to protect our family and our home."
The father smiled, a glint of pride in his eyes. "You are strong and brave, my daughter. I have no doubt you will make a great warrior one day."
They sat in silence for a few moments, the only sound the occasional drip of blood from the father's injured hand. The daughter leaned into her father's embrace, feeling safe and loved.
As they sat there, the father couldn't help but think about the adventurers who had attacked them. He didn't hate them, he knew they were just doing what they thought was right. But he wished they could see that goblins weren't all monsters, that they were just trying to survive in a world that didn't accept them.
He sighed and pulled his daughter closer. "Someday, my love, I hope they will see us for who we truly are."
"Come on, my dear. We should rest now. We have a long day ahead of us." He said, offering his hand to his daughter.
The daughter took her father's hand and stood up, feeling a sense of determination and courage coursing through her veins. She knew it wouldn't be easy, but she was willing to fight for her family and her home.
Together, they made their way to their sleeping area, where they lay down and closed their eyes, the sounds of the underground world around them lulling them to sleep.
As they drifted off to sleep, the father whispered to his daughter, "Remember, my love. We may be small, but we are mighty. And together, we will always be strong."
The daughter smiled, feeling a sense of pride and love for her father. She closed her eyes, feeling safe and protected in her father's arms.
And as they slept, the sun continued to rise in the distance, a symbol of hope and a new beginning for the small goblin family.
