Chapter 52: Off to Saigon

[Terminal Two, Changi International Airport]

It was a sunny Monday morning, and it almost seemed symbolic that things were looking up after the dark episode over the last couple of days.

Jackie was glad Daphne had recovered, and she had Henry to thank for that. He stayed with her over the weekend.

She gazed out to the tarmac, watching the ground crew go about their pre-flight checks on the aircraft. But her mind wasn’t on the plane.

*I haven’t seen Bob in weeks. One more day and I’ll see him again. It’s a pity we only have a day together there. Oh, why did I stop him from flying here last week? How could I have allowed myself to be misled by Arno?*

“Announcing the boarding of Flight SQ 178. Passengers with infants and children, First Class and Business Class passengers, kindly board first. Thank you.”

As the announcement echoed through Boarding Gate F42, her thoughts returned to the present. She glanced up and saw Henry looking at his watch.
