The girls were clinging on to Jackie, one on either side. It was time to bid farewell and she felt like she already missed them dearly. How could she ever forget the incident at Bishop Trail? They had formed an everlasting bond.
“Auntie Jackie. Will you come to visit us with Uncle Bob?” Azeela asked.
She laughed, then kneeled to hug and kiss the girls.
“Yes, of course. I will, darling!” she said with a heavy heart, and felt her eyes misting.
The girls clung on and absolutely refused to let go of her. It took Sharifah’s intervention before they did.
“Okay, that’s enough, girls. Or else Auntie Jackie will suffocate.” She chuckled as she coaxed her girls. Then she hugged Jackie and they touched cheeks.
“I really enjoyed the weekend and especially getting to know you. I hope to see you again very soon, Jackie.”
“Yes, Sharifah. Likewise, I’m so happy to have met you and your family. I’m going to miss you all.” Jackie hugged her tightly, meaning every word she said.
