“I’m going to miss you,” Gideon told Maeve when they found her at the front desk.
She grinned. “Me or the excitement we were involved with?”
“If I never have to go through something like that again it’ll be too soon,” he retorted with a laugh. “No, it’s you I’ll miss. I’m glad I got to know you. You’re a special woman.”
She came around to give him a hug, saying, “I’m not that special, but I’m take the compliment anyway.”
“You are, and you know it,” he replied, and Edan nodded in agreement. “I’ll be back, I promise. To visit you, and the city, at my leisure.”
“I hope you will,” she said. “Bring the reprobate with you.”
“Braden’s not a reprobate,” Edan said without blinking an eye.
She chuckled, patting his arm. “That’s debatable, but you know he wasn’t the one I meant. Now off with you. Wait, do you want a ride?”
