The half-breed

They had her surrender and snarled at her with their sharp, long teeth. She knew she was doomed. She has finally met her end. Even if everybody forgives her and lets her go, Delta Logan won’t support them. He is dangerous. She examined her surroundings, her eyes wondering for a way out. However, it was a dead end. They were in the middle of a jungle. The only thing she could hope for was an unexpected miracle. Delta Logan strides forward, followed by Rebecca, and her witch friend, Rachael, while the rest of the lycans pack moves behind her. Instantly, an idea crept into her head. Rachael is a witch. That means she was not fast like those lycans. “You can do this,” she assured herself. As Delta Logan dived at her, at the last minute, she stepped aside and the Delta collided with a tree instead. Before any one of them could react, she dived at Rachael, her elbow aiming straight for her teeth. Before Rachael could blink, Joy’s elbow collided with her mouth and the force removed the front teeth in the process. She pushed her out of the way and then grabbed a tree branch she had seen earlier and used the force to propel her body on top of the tree. Joy was sure of one thing, she couldn't outrun Delta Logan and the pack on dry ground. But she could do it on top of trees. Dan had taught her that. He had been training her for a day like this. She swung her body on top of another tree, and then swivelled her body midair, did bar hop skills, and grabbed another branch. She could hear the rustling of leaves behind her which suggested that they were now chasing her. Yet, she did not panic. She has been in this wood many times without number, and she knew her way better than them. After jumping for what seemed like forever, she could see the exit of the woods. It was a few metres ahead of her, and that made her double her effort. She was sure that Dan would be waiting for her at the exit of the woods.

Chapter 17

Dawn of Glory [the half-breed]

Chapter Seventeen

Theme: Isengard, part two.

Micah Tyler stood by the extinct bodies of the D'arcy soldiers, and he shook his head at the sight of them. It was indeed a dreadful sight to behold. He had been trailing the so-called half-breed since last night, and he was sure that he would soon catch up with her. If his calculation is right, they must not be far ahead of him again.

Even though it was dark, the moon did a great job of casting its glory on the middle land and the L Junction. Even if the moon wasn't showing, Micah Tyler would just activate his night vision. He couldn't wait to get his hands on the rumored half-breed and returned to Lord Darius. All thanks to the silver chain he was using, Micah was sure that he wouldn't be closing in on them so fast.

It took him a full moon to track down the previous threat and take care of it. However, this was different. All thanks to Elder Marcus. He was the one that gave him a necklace that belonged to the one he was tracking or any of her companions.

After he had left Lord Darius's chamber, he went straight to the Black Venom's Coven, but he was late. He couldn't even meet the red widow and the being that was turned by the half-breed. Elder Marcus and a few elderly people were the only ones he met there, cleaning the blood on the floor and burying their bodies.

Even though it took him a lot of effort before elder Marcus released the necklace which he claimed belonged to the half-breed. At least he was able to get it, and he repaid Elder Marcus by killing him; and everyone that was left behind. That's him. He hated lazy beings. Besides, he believes that the elderly are already weak without their Alpha. So, there is no need to keep them alive again.

He brought out a compass from his pocket, and it led him further to the north. The compass consists of Joy's necklace and the silver cross, which was leading Micah Tyler. "That's the advantage of being friends with a great wizard," Micah mumbled with a chuckle, and he continued his journey.

After a few minutes of walking, he could see the high tower and cliff of Isengard, and the sight of it brought back the memory of his past; both evil and good.

He was born and nurtured in Isengard. Everything was going perfectly in his life until Lord Darius invaded the territory, broke the boundary that was protecting them from attackers, and slaughtered the people mercilessly.

Even though his people tried to fight back with all the skills they had, they tried to force the armies back. Nonetheless, they didn't have a chance against the mighty Lord Darius. Seeing that it was a losing battle for them, their ancestors were forced to swear an oath of peace to Darius. That's the reason Isengard is still standing to this day.

Micah Tyler shakes his head as he tries to get the memory of his head back. Then he let it replace itself with how he killed the first half-breed.

"Why must they all come to Isengard?" Micah reflected as he moved closer to Isengard's border. It was invisible to the naked eye, but Micah could still detect the boundary line. If he made any mistakes by stepping in, then it means he's dead.

Well, he didn't have a problem with that. He knew his way all around Isengard. He squatted down and used his hand to trace the sand.

How could he forget? This is the same place and spot where he killed the first half-breed. Even though it nearly cost him his life because of the being that was protecting him. Nonetheless, they ended up becoming prey to Micah Tyler.

Micah Tyler grabbed a small piece of earth, brought it closer to his mouth, and whispered some words to it. After that, he blew it in the direction of the boundary line.

As the sand came into contact with the lines, a bright green light emitted from the ground and shone all around Isengard's territory. A few seconds later, a loud wail erupts from the boundary's green light which echoes throughout the night. It was like thousands of dead beings were screaming and getting tortured in hell.

Slowly, the boundary parted in the middle which gave Micah the chance to jump in before it closed. Taking in a deep breath, Micah made his way straight to one of Lord Darius's soldier houses, Zedekiah.

With a quick, brutal swing, Joy slashed the first lycan that lunged at her. She stepped aside to avoid another claw swipe and then cut the lycan into two. She jumped up and planted her feet on another lycan's chest. As her feet collided with the lycan, the force threw the lycan against the wall, and Joy herself was surprised at the weight of her blow. She performs a double slash and plunges the blood sword into another lycan's chest.

Howling out in anger, treason, and frustration. Dan transformed into his full hybrid Alpha mod. Instead of holding back his lycan's anger, he let the beast out. It was like thousands of late souls' voices had been released from hell. His voice carried great authority, and the echoes traveled throughout the dark sky. His eyes were blazing red with anger, his body was covered with silver hair, and hierarchies appeared on his body.

His back was adorned with a long, sharp peg that glistened in the glow of the half-moon. Like a wild bull emitting from the depths of hell, Dan descends on the D'arcy's soldiers. He was like a wounded lion roaring for vengeance. The heat of the anger that was emitting from his body was like a volcano flame. It was like a great partition had been opened. Like a lava pool, he threw himself into the heat of the battle.

Trusting that Joy could take care of D'arcy's lycan, he went for the archer. He knew very well that Joy was vulnerable to arrows, and he didn't want to take the risk. He was her protector, and he couldn't live knowing that the prophecy half-breed died in his eyes. He grabbed the first archer and tore him apart with his claws. He kicked two others in the chest with his toe claw, spun back in the same motion, and chopped down another archer's head.

It was a close-range attack, which didn't give the archer time to reload their bow. Those that had an arrow in their back now couldn't afford to shoot it. That gives Dan a significant advantage over them. Gathering all the power that his Lycan beast could grant him, Dan shredded them into pieces. He was a one-man wrecking machine, and none of the D'arcy soldiers stood a chance against him.

Joy slid past a lycan as he leaped at her, then she retaliated by stabbing him in the stomach. Despite the weight of the sword, it was light in her hand. Joy could feel the blood sword urging her to kill them, pulling her and directing her hand. She could feel herself slaughtering them with her newfound speed, slashing them with a strength she didn't know. Left and right, front and back, the D'arcy Lycan's fall. Their blood and bodies piled up in the chamber while blood filled Joy's clothes.

She was too late to duck a claw that swiped at her face, and she braced herself for the impact. A few inches for the claw to reach her. She felt something emitting out of her body, and the lycan screamed in pain. Joy couldn't believe it. Her power had just lashed out involuntarily and burned the lycan.

After several minutes of killing, jabbing, and chopping, all the D'arcy soldiers were killed except for Duncan. Before the man could rush out of the room, Dan darted at him and blocked his path. The man turned back, but Joy was already in front of him. Not wasting any seconds, she grabbed him on the neck and stared directly into his eyes, just like the way a confessor always stares directly into the eyes of their victims.

In flashes, Joy went for her power, and she found it there. It was floating in the depth of her stomach like an ocean. She tapped into the power and threw it at the man. Instantly, Duncan's eyes turned red and he went to his knees. Joy staggered a little, but Dan was quick to hold him.

"These things drain me a lot," she whispered gently before turning her attention back to Duncan.

"Where is Zedekiah?" She asked impatiently.

"He's on his way to the lair of the Smear,” he answered.

"How many soldiers are with him?" She asked again.

"Three elite Darcy soldiers, my wife, and ten archers." He explained.

"Dan, did you know how to get to Smear's liar?"Joy asked, her gaze now resting on Dan. "We have to be quick."

"Why don't you ask him to take us there?" Dan retorted. "Ask him if he still has any pixie dust."

"Can you take us there?" Joy implored Duncan "Or is there any pixie dust with you?"

"Even if we use a bowl of pixie dust, we can't make it there on time." Duncan elaborated.

"Shut up," Dan snapped and punched him. He strode closer to the man and ransacked his pocket. After some minutes of searching, he brought a jar that consisted of pixie dust. "I have found some." He said.

Not wasting any seconds, he opened the cover, walked towards Joy, and poured the pixie dust on both of them.

As soon as the pixie dust touched their bodies, they disappeared out of the room. Just then, the awning of the chamber came crashing down, and a figure emerged from the hole. It was Micah Tyler.
