Chapter 2: Emperor Eye

Chapter 2: Emperor Eye

"Now that all of you are 15, you will receive your own grimoire. After that, you can decide whether you want to be a knight or a magician in 1 week." An old man with a long beard, who was also wearing a weird robe said.

'What? Where am I? I should be dead…" muttered one of the kids in the middle of the crowd of kids.

As he was still thinking, he saw a book that looked somewhat shelf worn and with bumpy corners. Some pages were dog-eared. A paperback book with cover creases. The dust jacket is more than tiny but still moderate edge chips with a bit of a faded spine.

He looked around to see different kids getting different types of books.

'Wait a minute, this looks exactly like the Black-Clover grimoire selection ceremony, but the grimoires don't seem to have clovers on them.'

His grimoire opened to the titles page and he could immediately recognise that it was written in English.

{Summoning Magic}

{

The essentials of this grimoire is that its user will be able to summon any character that he knows about from all of fiction, after paying a 'price.'

Depending on what is paid, a character template will be downloaded.

More functions of the grimoires of the grimoire will be shown after the first template is downloaded.

"Alright kids, now please go back to your families. I hope to see some of you in the Magic Academy entrance exam in 6 months, learning the wonders of magic with me." Said the old man, as he did a slight bow, while being surrounded in the wind and disappearing.

Where the fuck am I? Calm down, Magnus, you have to figure out what to do, as he walked out of the massive tower he was inside.

'For now, money is the main issue, I am in an unknown world, with no identity. I need to live then find out what the fuck is this grimiore nonsense about.' Thought Magnus while walking around.

He realised that whatever he had on him would be crucial and realised he seemed to be wearing an expensive suit, which he never owned, but he was not complaining.

The world also seemed to be of a mediaeval time period, since everyone was giving him a weird look from his 'fancy suit.'

Thus, he decided the best thing he could do was to sell it and use the money he gets to live.

Unfortunately though, it seems like 'unknown clothing' wouldn't sell for a lot.

"Damm Transported into another world with a smartphone anime, I got scammed, isekai isn't that easy," mumbled Magnus, with the 2 silver and 52 copper coins in his hand, with new, more normal clothes,

He used 2 of the copper to buy some stale bread and sat at the corner of a shady looking street and opened his grimoire up.

'If this is a world of magic, I definitely need power. I don't want to get trampled on in this life. I want to do the stomping. For that, I need to put in all my effort.' Magnus thought, as he ate one of the stale bread, making a decision up in his head.

He could still see the disgusting and heart wrenching figure of his mother getting pounded, with an expression of bliss, while his father was crying…

{

What 'Price,' would you like to pay?

}

His grimoire opened up and asked, as if sensing his emotions.

"50 Years of my life. That should be enough to get me a good template. It's an investment for the future. Yes, the future." He said, the second part, trying to justify his crazy actions.

{

Understood.

Searching all of fiction…

Checking price paid…

50 years of lifespan of an unimportant person in the multiverse…

Selective a non-combative figure…

Selecting from a peaceful world…

Selecting from a sports anime…

}

Looking at the words popping up in his grimoire and feeling something being cut off from him, Magnus' heart sank.

An unimportant person…while he knew that was the case, it was hard to be judged that way.

Looking at the description, his heart slumped a bit… he loved sports anime but, what the hell is Tanaka gonna do if someone throws a fireball at him.

But looking at a familiar face, I was really surprised.

'I can get the Emperor's eye? Doesn't that mean I am basically safe at lower levels?' Thought Magnus, pressing the purchase button for the emperor's eye.

His eyes felt a little warm, then he could start to analyse things at an incredible rate, basically seeing the future wherever humans were involved.

'With this, I should be a little more safe.

The most obvious thing to do now is to summon Akashi somehow to learn more about my powers. The best way to do that should be to learn more about this world.'

As he tried to think of the easiest way to make money, Magnus finished his bread.

After that, he wandered around for the day trying to find out more about his situation, before eventually sleeping near what seemed like a police headquarters.

He decided to not waste any money for his plan tomorrow.
