A mysterious person saves him, only to leave him to die at the city gates! Fair warning, this is a story about a guy who is surrounded by women who are taller and stronger than him. If you are looking for a story where the male lead takes charge and protects the women, this might not be the story for you.

Setting off once more

Now that it was decided we got off our stools and walked out of the guild. Cleo confirmed with Turek that he could walk and he said he was fine. He looked steady when walking so I didn't worry about it anymore.

When we got outside, we didn't see the thugs that had attacked Cleo and Turek. It seems they were still in a condition to walk after that beating and were able to run away. I wondered what would have happened if there were still here when we came out.

After leaving the guild we got to the south gate in around half an hour. I asked the two to wait and went to the nearest guard I saw. He saw me coming and said "Do you need something boy?"

"I just wanted to ask you about a guard name Leana, she…"

Before I could finish, the guard shoved me back and said angrily "I already told the guys that came before you that she is not here. Stop bothering her otherwise I will beat the shit out the next person you guys send!"

"You have misunderstood! I am ….."

"Get lost! Stop bothering me!"

Before I could continue the conversation, Cleo walked beside me and said, "Why don't you just listen to what he has to say? At least let him finish! We are not here to cause trouble for Miss Leana"

The guard looked at me again and grudgingly asked "What do you want?"

It seems something was different when Cleo asked. Was it because she was a woman?

"Actually I don't want anything at all. I just wanted to give my thanks to her for saving my life the day before yesterday."

I said this and waited to see how the guard would react. After hearing what I said his expression changed all of a sudden.

"Ohh… you are that kid that we found in front of the gate! You had blood all over you at the time so I didn't recognize you right away. So you survived? We never thought that you would be able to live after being injured so badly."

"Yeah, the high priestess had to heal me herself. I wouldn't have survived without all that people that helped me that day. So is Miss Leana here? The nun there told me that she was the one that brought me to the healing center."

"Ah.. about that. Sorry for my behavior earlier. It's just that some noble has been sending his men to pester Leana to marry him. Because of that she hasn't been able to work peacefully. Even the captain is helpless in stopping the noble. So he decided to make it harder for them to find her. Now she does many different jobs and sometimes just does things like helping the cook in the barracks. It has been really hard on her."

"But why does the nobel want to marry her?" asked Turek.

"Ah.. well you haven't seen her so you wouldn't understand. Leana is really beautiful. A lot of men have a crush on her and try to make advances on her but since she has trained in combat, she has never been afraid of them and is able to deal with them. If someone comes looking for her at work, we would turn him away after threatening him a bit. Most didn't have the guts to return. But this time it's different. We can't really threaten a nobel and this is the only solution we found." The guard replied dejectedly.

"I understand. Can you thank her for me in that case? We are going on a quest now and should return in the evening. If she is here, I will thank her personally again."

We said goodbye to the guard and set off on our way. This time I had double check the map so as to not make the same mistake again. Plus unlike last time, Cleo was leading. So I was not really worried about being lost.
