Chapter-2 Plans

Regression novel chapter 2

I woke up after a shitty sleep and peered outside my room window. I can already see all the students frolicking about early during the day. I wish I was as carefree as them but I need to get a leave form for a few days to sort my body out.

My body wasn't inherently weak or anything but I was born with extremely thin aura veins meaning I couldn't take in as much aura into my body as possible. Luckily my body was reformed much later with the ritual of dragon blood.

The problem is heading to where the dragon blood is now just asking for a death wish. Not to mention it's a fairly long trip. I get up and wash my face, then look at my reflection in the bathroom mirror. My eyes look sunken and languid whereas my expression is cold.

Fuck. I can't change how I am right now, even if I were to act as if I was fine, my friends would notice easily. If I were to head out like this people would easily notice something wrong. The cheerful and happy Julian suddenly looks like a miserable and grizzled war veteran. It's not wrong per se but it's troublesome, I'll have to come up with some shitty excuse. Luckily, today's classes were canceled because the instructor was busy with a commission so I had time to get my leave form.

I sat in the center of my room and gazed around. A painting of a golden crow was hung up on the walls and the interior was decorated with a minimalistic style. I was never one for interior decoration anyway.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath circulating my aura through my body. Slowly, small amounts of white energy began coursing through my veins at an unimaginable speed. My control is still there it seems, years of experience allowed even someone weak like me to become a powerhouse.

"Good," I muttered under my breath.

I left my room and cautiously stepped into the hallways expanding my aura sense to make sure I wasn't seen. I hid my presence as best I could and walked towards the administration office on the east side of the hall of light. The dorm I stayed in was usually used by those who are a part of the church or are going to be in the future.

I moved here in my second year because the other 2 dorms were a mess. The Azure Dragon Dorm was mainly for members of the nobility and especially achieving students amongst commoners, the problem was that the majority of the residents were nobility all you would hear is them gossip and cause drama. The Brown Bear dorm was mainly used by commoners and had the largest population, the rivalry between the Azure dragon and Brown Bear was often intense causing several conflicts, I began to grow annoyed by the constant headaches and mediating I had to do, so I filed a transfer request that was approved, thankfully because I was a diligent and likable student.

As I paced through the hallways and was reminiscing about old memories I reached an old oak door. I knocked three times gently.

"Come in."

A pleasant voice came from inside and a woman with round rimless glasses could be seen at her desk signing papers. She had her brown hair tied in a bun and her soft facial features evoked a sense of cuteness. The woman stopped her work to glance up and put on a warm smile.

"Oh! Julian, it's always nice to see you, how can I help you?"

I tried to smile and seem amicable but it seemed impossible for the moment and I sighed in exasperation.

"Miss Reyna, can I please get a leave request form for two days?"

Reyna looked up from her desk and stared at me deeply and her brows furrowed in concern.

"Are you sure your okay Julian, I can get you the forms but you don't look so well, do you mind telling me what's up?"

I guessed she could tell I was trying to seem cheerful as usual but failed to do so. I waved my hand nonchalantly and spoke.

"It's nothing Miss I'm just a little tired, my father wants to meet with me for a little bit so I need the request form."

"Hmm, is that so? Why can't your father just come to see you at the academy instead?"

"He's a little busy at the moment so I guess he's held up where he is at the moment."

"Alright no problem Julian on account of you being a good student, I see no problem with the request form."

She took a sheet from her drawer and signed a few details before handing it over to me.

"Make sure you are back within two days and notify me if you think you'll be late."

"Thank you, Miss Reyna."

I lightly bow my head as I leave the admin office relieved that I managed to get the form.

********************************************

Outside the academy, I turn to take a look at the majestic architecture of the school. The large and imposing structure had several towers and spires along with overarching bridges connecting the different buildings. I take a deep breath and continue walking out the main gate on the cobblestone floor enjoying the light breeze and soft sunlight seeping through the leaves of the greenery around me.

As I peer around, my eyes involuntarily show me scenes of the future where this seemingly unbreakable structure was destroyed, fires spreading everywhere, corpses lying at my feet, and the cries of students and teachers alike. I shake my head to get the gloomy thoughts out of my head but it doesn't make me feel better at all.

I pick up the pace and head into Capitus, the capital of the Vaehriel Empire. I could see several tall buildings and thousands of people going about their daily lives chatting happily with one another. Merchants could be seen haggling with customers, peddlers advertising their wares, and a little boy handing out posters, Capitus was truly the center of the Empire.

Whilst walking, I unknowingly bump into a rough-looking man dressed in light armor, an adventurer from the looks of it. I was too preoccupied with my surroundings it seems. The man glares at me with malice and anger before he barks at me.

"You Prick! Can't see where you're going eh?"

I frown underneath my hooded robe trying to pass the man once again but he pushes me back.

"Oi, are you deaf you prick?"

The man's companions, two women and another gloomy-looking man dressed similarly start laughing as they watch, who I assume to be the leader berate me with a disgusting smirk on his face. If it were in the past I would probably apologize with a kind smile on my face but people like these don't back down but instead become more full of themselves, demanding compensation for a stupid reason.

"Move."

I speak in a low and composed voice that seemed to have been laced with venom. The man flinched momentarily before trying to grab my arm.

"You fucker, do you know who I-"

I grab his arm and channel some aura before squeezing tight ready to snap the ruffian's arm like a twig.

"Arghh! Fuck let go!"

The man howled in pain as I increased my grip strength, he began to sweat in fear as no matter how much power he used he couldn't move my arm no matter what. An untrained fool like this would die on the battlefield in mere seconds for his overconfidence in his strength.

"Hey, what are you doing George? We need to get going, beat that idiot up and let's go."

One of his female companions nagged him with an annoyed expression as she watched George struggle. In terms of body size, there's not much to be said, I'm built more like a stick than some soldier whereas George was a huge man with bulging arms and a well-conditioned body.

As George peeks under my hood whilst struggling he catches a glimpse of my cold but beautiful blue eyes and his entire body froze as he met my vicious gaze. I let go and he hurriedly scrambled back shivering in terror.

"L... Let's go f.. forget him."

His companions seem confused but they sighed and moved on as George shuddered at what he saw.

'Those were the eyes of a monster! He's not human.'

George recalled those indifferent eyes that were looking at him as if he were already a corpse and shuddered at just the thought. The surrounding people who were riled up looked on in disappointment as they thought they would see a show but went back to their own business as usual.

"Tch."

I clicked my tongue in annoyance and this time expanded my aura sense to avoid any more foolish encounters as I headed to my destination.
