The God of Calamity’s Wife: before the beginning book 1

caution: violent scenes and child endangerment- this is a post war world set in Norse mythology and the world is on the brink of war again- Centuries ago, war shattered Asgard. Tired of living in the shadow of the Aesir, Loki and his creatures of chaos sought the respect they believed was their due. Their rebellion, however, brought only death, exile, and the fleeting victory of the Aesir. But gods cannot die forever, and Loki’s defeat came with a prophecy: the war would come again, and next time, he would be ready. Many began to question whether Odin was truly fit to rule the realms. (But that was not my concern. I am an entity of death, a Fylgia bound to the cycles of life and fate. My interest lies elsewhere—with two souls cursed by Odin to live, die, and repeat their lonely existence for eternity. Sirius and Saoirse. For centuries, I’ve watched them endure lives destined for isolation and suffering. I’ve grown tired of their pain. What if they didn’t have to be alone? What if I could give them a chance to defy fate? And, perhaps, what if I could become part of the story that I’ve shaped? These were my thoughts leading up to the beginning of this story. But meddling with destiny has consequences. I probably should have paid more attention to that war, because what I didn’t realize was, by changing one thing, a ripple would expand across the realms that nobody could have anticipated.) Sirius and Saoirse, they weren’t just any Vampire and Werewolf that could have been brought together. They are creatures that must come to terms with the demon beasts inside of them or bringing them together might just end up finishing what Loki’s children had started. The problem is, all they want is a legacy. author note: This story builds a bit slower at the beginning and then picks up more action when they get to Asgard, so don’t worry, this book will have 500 chapters and this is just the beginning!

36- The vow

Sirius looked at Alastor with hatred in his eyes. This made him smile, his fangs casting a sinister atmosphere around them, "Well, well, well, do I finally get to see your beast? Or do I have to kick you around a bit and see if it harms that woman of yours first?"

Sirius growled, a low vibration rippling in his throat. Talons erupted from his fingertips and scales crawled up his hands, reaching as high as his forearms, as he attempted to pry his hair out of Alastor's grasp.

His eyes went a dark, shiny black color, like polished obsidian, but with a faint glint of red around the rims and his pupils forming red slivers, barely distinguishable from the darkness surrounding them.

The look in those eyes meant that surely if this man continued threatening his mate, Sirius would let him out. His beast smiled, Sirius was glad to let him out. He was going to kill the man in front of him.

Madeleine saw this and worry filled her. Sirius had always been told that once he changed into his full beast, he would be at the whims of his father's desires and his father would use him to end the world. She didn't want Saoirse to be hurt, but she also didn't want Alastor to win. I've got to think of something! She thought, and looked around for something she could do. She grabbed the crowbar and lunged at Alastor.

"Madeleine don't!" Brimir cried.

This made her hesitate a moment as Alastor, now alerted to her heroics turned around. He lashed out his claws at her and slashed her body hard, throwing her against the wall where she lay there and didn't move.

"No!!!!!!!" Brimir cried, his voice raw with fury, "YOU DESPOT! HOW COULD YOU? YOU UNWORHTY KING, YOU'RE THE BEAST!" He cried, he tore the crowbar from Madeleine's lifeless fingers and swung it hard at Alastor, his body surging with rage.

Alastor let go of Sirius and smiled as he stepped out of the way, glad to let someone else bloody their hands instead of him. The surrender so sudden the crowbar didn't have time to stop and aimed to make contact with Sirius instead.

A loud clash resounded through the forest as it hit the unintended target with full force.

But now Sirius wasn't there, Linus had taken the opportunity to grab ahold of him and teleported him out of the way just in time, the crowbar hitting the pavement and leaving a deep gash in Linus' back.

He let go of Sirius and fell to the ground, blood seeping out of him very quickly. "Linus!!!!!!" Sirius cried as he realized what just happened.

Brimir stood there in shock. He had almost killed Sirius. He dropped the crowbar in panic and Alastor kicked him into the wall and took ahold of the makeshift weapon.

He tossed the bloody thing from one hand to the other smiling, "what a shame, it seems like your baby's gonna die and your friends. You should have shifted into your beast and none of this would have happened.

He tensed his whole body and wacked at Brimir, blood flying in an arc, and went in for a second strike at Linus, but Brimir had come back and grabbed ahold of the other end from behind him, attempting to pull it out of his grasp.

"Go! Sirius, get out of here! Just go!" Brimir cried as now he began a scuffle with Alastor, barely holding him off.

Sirius sat there with Linus dying his his arms and looked over at Madeleine who still hadn't moved and had no idea what he could do, but he needed to save them.

"Get away from them!" He cried as Alastor continued attacking his friends. He blew fire at his father, his fierce rage so hot, the flames were blue. "Your fight is with me, not them!"

Alastor cried out in pain as the fire burned his body, the first time anyone had dared strike him, and in that moment, Brimir yanked the weapon free from his grasp and wacked him with it. Alastor was momentarily stunned, and Brimir began beating him over and over with it, barely causing damage though because Alastor was wearing his signature red leather armor that he never took off.

Sirius needed to get Linus and Madeleine out of there. He attempted to cover Linus' gaping wound with his shirt but Linus stopped him. "Sirius, please, just protect my sister….." he began coughing and blood came up out of his mouth, he wiped it away and placed his bloodied hand on Sirius' "Please Sirius, I'm gone already, my Fylgia is here to cut my line, I see him. He said pointing towards the air where nobody that Sirius could see was standing.

Sirius shook his head, "No Linus! We need you! Your pack needs you! What about Lachlan? You can live to fight another day and lead the pack to victory!" Sirius argued.

"No." Linus gasped a bit, "Have that baby of yours. I know she looks like you. I can see her standing by you right now, she's lovely." He coughed again, "And then, you can get revenge ok? Avenge the deaths of all of us. The only one making it out of here is you."

Then he let go of his life, his eyes going grey, leaving Sirius covered in his blood and utterly alone. His hand attempted to fall to the side, but Sirius was clutching it tightly.

(I stood there watching this scene and the image of my father losing his only brother he ever had, the one who had called me Lovely. It broke my heart. I had to do something, I wished I could do something, I cried out for Alastor's Fylgia to come here right now. I wanted to fight him if my father couldn't fight.

(My father blamed himself, but my father couldn't fight because of me. Another person died because of me, and Alastor's Fylgia didn't come. It wasn't his time. In all of the hundreds of battles I had been summoned to, I knew that fact. The only string that would be cut that day was Linus.')

In the end, as Sirius fled, Alastor yelled after him, unable to follow the bird, "I'll throw Madeleine and Brimir in the dungeon and publicly execute them for their treason! You'd better get back here Sirius! There's nowhere you can hide, I will find you!"

Sirius had no option but to fly back to the pack, defeated and broken, fighting off his tears, barely able to see straight.

For the sake of his unborn child though, he focused on the terrain as best as he could, to avoid crashing. All he wanted to do was rest and cry, let all of his frustration out on his father, but Linus' words stayed stuck in his mind, he needed to have his baby before he could get revenge. And then he would avenge everybody's deaths. He vowed in silence at Linus as he flew, "I will, brother. I will fix this someday."
