The God of Calamity’s Wife prequel: before the beginning

*I apologize in advance for my dark villains! but a good villain needs a tragic reason to be evil. Please trust the process! You can check out my main book The God of Calamity’s Wife: Return of the 13th. It’s a story of their next reincarnation and they don’t have to be read in order. This book I would say is for my top fans so they can know all the history. Be sure to send Return of the 13th gifts and votes since it’s contracted! Centuries ago, war shattered Asgard. Tired of living in the shadow of the Aesir, Loki and his creatures of chaos sought the respect they believed was their due. Their rebellion, however, brought only death, exile, and the fleeting victory of the Aesir. But gods cannot die forever, and Loki’s defeat came with a prophecy: the war would come again, and next time, he would be ready. Many began to question whether Odin was truly fit to rule the realms. (But that was not my concern. I am an entity of death, a Fylgia bound to the cycles of life and fate. My interest lies elsewhere—with two souls cursed by Odin to live, die, and repeat their lonely existence for eternity. Sirius and Saoirse. For centuries, I’ve watched them endure lives destined for isolation and suffering. I’ve grown tired of their pain. What if they didn’t have to be alone? What if I could give them a chance to defy fate? And, perhaps, what if I could become part of the story that I’ve shaped? These were my thoughts leading up to the beginning of this story. But meddling with destiny has consequences. I probably should have paid more attention to that war, because what I didn’t realize was, by changing one thing, a ripple would expand across the realms that nobody could have anticipated.) Sirius and Saoirse, they weren’t just any Vampire and Werewolf that could have been brought together. They are creatures that must come to terms with the demon beasts inside of them or bringing them together might just end up finishing what Loki’s children had started. The problem is, all they want is a legacy. author note: This story builds a bit slower as it is part of a series but book 1 is complete so don’t miss out on book two. they don’t have to be read in order, book two has more action as well.

"You want us to watch your house while you're gone? How long will it be until you get back?" Madeleine exclaimed when Sirius explained what had happened to them and their plans to go to the wolf pack.

"We're not sure." Saoirse admitted. "I'm supposed to be their leader now. Perhaps we will eventually have to sell our animals if we end up being gone too long, but for now we just want to check it out."

"I'm not so sure about this being a good idea." Brimir said uncomfortably. "I mean, we still work for the king, what if he asks us where you guys have gone? That could put us in danger, he could accuse us of treason."

Madeleine nodded, "I hate to say it, but Brimir's right. We can't risk getting into trouble for you guys getting involved with the werewolves. Maybe it would be a better idea for you to tell your brother he can keep being Alpha, that is the safer option."

"Not to mention if you guys go you would put the werewolves in trouble too." Brimir added. "It's already bad enough that your brother came here. I'd suggest you just keep away from him. You becoming Luna, Saoirse, not to be rude but what even makes you qualified? The whole thing hasn't been very well thought through."

Saoirse agreed with Brimir on this. He was echoing fears she had ever since her brother handed her the title. She didn't know what to say. How to feel about this.

Sirius responded steadfastly,"We have decided not to stay here. I understand your concerns Brimir, and believe me, I'm not trying to put anyone in danger, but my father wants us to isolate ourselves and this is an opportunity to find allies. As the future king, I need to at least go and see the pack for myself. I know you mean well, but you should know I always think things through. That is really why I asked you here today. I wanted to know your perspective."

Madeleine was thinking about what getting involved in this could mean for her and she just couldn't shake the worry that Brimir's words put in her heart. If he hadn't spoken, she would have agreed in a heartbeat to watch the house. It was a lot nicer than hers anyways and she was itching for a vacation. She was even willing to milk the cows even though that was not her kind of idea of a vacation. But now she realized the weight of the task and shook her head. "I'm sorry Sirius, we are ever loyal to you two, but this is a huge political move. We just aren't ready to get involved. I mean, I have Mathew and it's just too dangerous."

Sirius respected their decision. "Ok then, thank you for your input. It has grounded me to the reality that everything I ever do in my life is political. I really hadn't thought it through as much as I thought." He paused for a bit.

"Ok then. In that case, we will come up with a different plan for the animals. I bet we could sell them or something. I'm going to tell my father that Saoirse wants to go to a university. We can figure it out so he doesn't think you two are involved."

Brimir sighed, relieved that Sirius was indeed nothing like his father and could listen to reason. In reality, if Sirius chose to order them to help, they would have to and would lose their heads the moment Alastor found out.

"Well if you've thought it through and you still think you should go, then we are proud of you. We hope this does bring you allies. To beat your father, you're going to need them. I just hope you are ready for when he catches word that you lied. Once he knows you found werewolves when he thought he wiped them out, I hope you have the strength to defend what you've built."
