CHAPTER ONE: ALL IN

"Mom!!!" Gray shouted from his room "I can't find my squad jacket".

His room has ransacked by himself, the wardrobes were wide open and his clothes scattered across the room.

"It's right here honey, you forgot it in the living room when you were fawning over it" his mom replied "It even has drools all over it".

"That's a lie mom" he replied" I will be with you in a minute".

"Be quick, I made breakfast and I want you to have it hot".

Gray took a mental check around his room, checking if he needs anything else to take "looks I've got everything" he muttered to himself. He stood in front of his mirror and assessed himself, he smiled happily as he touched the blue bird crest that was at his left breast pocket on his uniform.

"You are so narcissist" his mom said also smiling.

"Well you should be proud that your son is handsome" he said patting his mom shoulder.

"You look nice" she replied ruffling his grey hair " Come on, let's go have breakfast".

"Okay".

"And remember to switch your lights off, we need to be preserving power nowadays".

"Yes mum".

The layout of their home was just perfect for the two of them. It is a two bedroom apartment, it has a common living room in the center with a pull out couch, it's own TV and the kitchen. On either side of the living room are individual bedrooms that are separated by a door to the living room. These bedrooms each have their own king size bed, closet, bathroom, TV and furnitures. It has a unique design that always shines every morning just like right now.

"Busy day for the two of us" his mom said trying to strike a conversation up as she dished his bacon and eggs "You've got your first day at Blue Bird while I got my fist day as a promoted High level engineer at Technix".

"Hmm" Gray said stuffing his mouth with a lot of bacon.

"God it's going to be a tight schedule for us all" she said sighing as she took her seat.

"Yeah" Gray muttered obviously not interested in the conversation.

"Think he would be proud of us" she said looking at him curiously.

"Who" Gray said absent mindedly as he drinks his orange juice.

"Your dad come on gra...".

"Mom,please don't not this morning" he said raising his head "I don't want to know what he thinks mom".

"Gray we can't keep doing this" she said sadly

"Mom please not just this morning" he said. His mom noticed his mood change so she decided to change the topic.

" So which will you be joining the major or just the commons?" she asked.

"I will be going for the field service, you know I've always been scared of height, my fear won't let me work for the majors" he said

"Field service huh, I wished you could work in the labs like we could have even become a duo together" she said sighing.

"No mom, lab personnel is boring, it's just work every day in a place that smells like hydrochloric acid" he said disgusted by the thought of it.

"Well we do use hydrochloric acid at work sooo" she said shrugging her shoulders "And don't make my work place sound boring".

The doorbell rang, Gray stood and went to the corner of the room to wall were a tab was attached to it. He tapped it once and the screen came on, it brought out some options and he pressed the security camera, the tab then showed a video of two teenagers at the front of their door. One of them with a red hair raised his middle finger at the camera, Gray laughed an pressed the unlock button on the tab.

"It's Leo and Ravi" he said rushing towards his jacket on the chair "I've got to go mom"

The front door opened and a tall huge red hair entered followed by an average height teenager with black hair.

"Good morning Mrs Carter" they said in unison together.

"Hey boys, how are y'all doing?" she asked "And how are your parents"

"They are all fine" the black hair boy said. The red hair sauntered towards Gray who was putting on his jacket and punched him on the shoulder.

"Ouch what's that for leo" Gray said massaging his shoulder.

"That's for spending a long time before opening your door you asshole" Leo said smiling.

"It's their property they can as they like" the dark haired boy said.

"Shut up Ravi or you want one too" Leo said grinding.

"You imbecile" Ravi said shaking his head.

Gray's mom laughed at them

"You boys should get going before you get late" she said smiling.

"Yeah mom" he said massaging his shoulder "Love you mom".

"Love you too son, and please be safe" she blew him a kiss as she waved at him.

Gray smiled as he and his friends left their home.

"I couldn't sleep at all, I was just nervous" Ravi confessed as they left Gray's home

"You are always nervous" Leo yawned "It's just your thing"

"I know but this one is different" Ravi spoke calmly.

"Yeah, he is right though" Gray said looking up to the sky.

Gray, Ravi and Leo have been best friends since they could talk. The trio were born on the same day, same hospital but different hour. Leo is the oldest amongst them, he is four hours older so he likes to act like the big brother which perfectly fits his appearance, he is tall, hulky and has and orange pupils that usually shine brighter in the afternoon. Gray is the second oldest and he was born through caesarian operation which almost cost his mother's life. Ravi is the last of them, he is the brains of the trio, at age seven he has already read all the books about he old world, at age nine he could say everything about the new age minerals and just last week he was able to find a way to convert rine gem into electricity, a feat most upper engineers cant.

One hundred and thirty seven years has passed since the dragons invaded earth. No one could say where they came from or what they want. They just arrived and continue to plunge life away, surving was difficult as there was no military assistance left to help mankind, humans travelved the world looking for a place to survive. It was about thirty years that some surviving humans noticed that the dragons couldn't go near an island, it was as if they were scared of it. Infact this strange island wasnt in the earth's map, it just miraculously appeared from no where, but the island was blessed with nature, resources and elements that wasnt known to exist.

One hundred years later it became a thriving island known as the Island of Hope, with a growing population of over five million people of different race, colour, tribe and culture. Technology has also improved greatly, the new elements and resources on the island gave way to this breakthrough as humans surpassed their limits in science. Fifteen years later after settling in the Island of Hope humans decided to fight back against the dragons and reclaim their planet, so guilds were created.

These guilds were created for a main reason, to fight back at the dragons and also for different reasons too. For example for peacekeeping in the island, for management of resources amongst themselves, they also overlook their given districts and also for answers to the most throbbing questions on human minds.

The first guild to be ever created was The Flaming Shawl, then other guilds were created like The Reachers, Blue Bird, The Shining, The Gazelles, The Echelon and The Uprising (it was just recently created) were created in order making seven guilds existing in the Island of Hope.

The only downside to all this was that the population keeps on increasing, so the the leaders decided that only two children can be accepted in one family, and if a family has more than two children, that child will be known as a war child which means they will be trained from a very young age in various guilds.

"Ravi do you want to consider working in the lab?" Gray asked as they walked on the sidewalk of the busy streets. The trio have been walking for about fifteen minutes, leo forced them to walk so as to be late to Blue Bird for them to then make a big entrance on their new day.

"Why the sudden question?" Ravi said putting a boom he was read to his backpack.

"I guess you've never be the danger man yourself" Gray sighed.

"Well I was made for the lab but I wanted to feel danger like you guys, I don't want you two protecting me again" Ravi replied looking away from the two of them. The other two looked at themselves and snickered at Ravi.

"Wether you become a captain at Blue Bird or even become a Chancellor we two will always protect you" Leo said putting his muscular arm over Ravi's shoulder and flexing it on purpose making Ravi squirm.

"Get off Leo" Ravi tried to lift up Leo's arm but couldn't.

"Reason why you belong in the lab" Leo laughed raising his arm from his shoulder.

"We are almost there guys, hope you have your crests on?" Gray asked.

"Yeah it's on, do you ever wish to work for the small squads?" Leo asked adjusting his Blue Bird's crest.

"Well working for under the small squads means less danger for you" Ravi said

"That's the point, how will you be well know when you're working under a small squad." leo spat out "Infact I didn't want to tell you guys but after entering Blue Bird I want to do a transfer exam to the shining".

"What!!!" Gray and Ravi exclaimed in unison "That's like impossible to enter unless...".

"I know they have strict rules but once the look at my talent, aptitude and skills am sure they will pick me".

"Well am not a fan of flying, I have never been one so I won't be joining the flight squad just the field." Gray said looking at the sky.

Blue Bird, a guild known for it expertise in flight. They are the only guild that has more than enough planes which are called "birds". They are the fourth best squad amongst seven squads and the number one once it comes to flight. Their motto is: till we soar past the heavens we won't stop.

Gray read the motto as they approached the major guildhall, it was filled with new recruits just like them. The new recruits were walking either confused, scared, frustrated or disturbed. The Blue Bird securities who were dressed in blue overalls were trying to keep the squad calm.

"Woah" Leo exclaimed "Look at how many people came, quite nice for a number four guild".

"You haven't transferred to The Shining and you are hating your home guild". Gray said disappointed.

"I might have been born in this shitty Blue town (the name of their district) but it doesn't mean am a Bird material". leo blurted out.

At the gate entrance of the guild ha is a very gigantic Blue Bird statue. It's face was very menacing, it's beak was opened so as to show as if it was roaring, its beady eyes were facing upwards to the sky while at it's talons is a dragon that is being crushed underneath the bird and the dragon are tiny people bowing in respect to the bird.

A small tiny stone flew and met Leo on his sidehead, Gray looked away from the statue towards the stone throwers, it was the group that was making the most noise. The leader of the group was very obvious because of his height, voice, hulky body and perfect jawline.

"Ugh" Leo said in disgust "It's Baron Clive and his Goonies".

Baron Clive , the arch nemesis of Leo Smith, the two of them are known for their bitter rivalry from from the age of seven and for the last and for the last ten years it gets worse.

Baron strolled towards them like a king and his Goonies followed like a dog.

"If it isn't meo and his puppies" Baron laughed out.

"We aren't his pu..." Leo pressed Ravi's lips before he could complete his sentence.

"Let me handle it" he whispered to Ravi "Sharon what the hell do you want"

"Nothing much shaggy brain just wanted to congratulate you for making it into blue bird" Baron said.

"Why, thank you" Leo said sarcastically "Just to tell you I'll be the one kicking your ass in the guild"

"Why don't we try that one now" Baron said clenching his fists.

Gray came into the two of them and raised his hands up.

"It's just our first day and you guys want to fight how matured Baron". he said looking at Baron dead eyes.

Baron smiled and made a waving hand as he walked away with his goonies.

"I will be seeing you around Leonardo" he shouted.

"Asshole" Leo said "Why did you let him go Gray".

"Don't want to cause a scene do we?" Gray said putting his hands into his pocket.

"WILL ALL NEW RECRUITS PLEASE MAKE IT INTO THE GUILDHALL" a voice booked from a speaker.

"Shall we do this?" Leo asked smiling

"Am ready if you guys are" Ravi whimpered.

"All in" Gray said smiling.
