The Gamer: The Path of Sloth

What happens when one of the laziest people in the universe gets the Gamer System.... [Skill Granted: Sleep] [Skill Granted: Boredom Resistance] [Skill Granted: Auto-Clean] I'm still very new at this whole writing thing, so don't expect too much. Feel free to leave suggestions and/or requests going forward. There are going to be a lot of different fantasy worlds put loosely together by the plot of the story. I own nothing but the characters I create.

My first birthday has come and gone I've made some incredible progress. I'll spare the boring details and get to the good stuff....

It took me almost a year to figure this out. The only reason I was able to find out was due to the events that happened few months ago. Maya started having dreams, and not normal dreams. They were memories. Memories of a past life.

She woke up screaming almost every night. The first time she woke up screaming, it scared me half to death. I activated my god-speed and ran to her room in less than a second. When she opened her eyes and seen me, the air in my lungs was pushed out of me by how hard she hugged me. She was confused as to which memories were hers and which were her past memories. I immediately took her to Mari who explained the situation to her as calmly as she could.

Maya, however, was a special case. Instead of being a Dark Mage or a White Knight, her ability was called the Field of Dreams. It allowed her to put up barriers that defended attacks from the outside and healed all of those who where inside. The little blonde girl also explained that her ability was connected to a pocket dimension similar to a dream world and passing the boundary was equivalent to being put in a slumber.

This was shocking news to Mari as she knew how important Maya's abilities would be going forward. She knew she had to make a move in order to not have Maya taken away and used by the White Knight Agency. She called in a few favors and instated her little sister as an intern for Akane Academy. Mari reasoned that her abilities were best suited to help the next generation of Saviors train without the worry of being injured.

After experiencing what it's like to enter the Field of Dreams, I finally figured out how to create an Instant Dungeon. All this time, I've been imagining it as a physical place that exists, but that's not the case. The Gamer gives the potential to have god-like abilities but it doesn't just give them to you.

ID Create is a skill that creates a space that mirrors our own. It exists, yet it doesn't. It's like the world we see when we look in a mirror; we can see it and imagine it, but never touch it. ID Create let's me enter that world and change it. It sounds ridiculous to even thinking about it.

Back in the present day, I've used ID Create at least two-hundred times by now and it refuses to level up anymore. I think I have to clear the dungeon before I can move to the next one. I look over to my sister who's playing with Legos as usual...

[Maya Shimon] The Little Witch of Dreams LVL 10

She has her own title and everything. I bet she's a main character of this world or something. Emptying my head of those thoughts, I walk back to my room. Surprisingly, I'm not going there to sleep. No, I have some work to do. I raise my small hand to the sky...

"ID Create!"

A ripple starting from my feet spreads outwards towards the walls, then the ceiling, and back towards me. I exit my room and go outside to my front yard. I walk forward until I reach the front gate of of the property, but before I exit, I make sure to do a final check...

I take a deep breath, not to calm down, but to prepare myself for a long day. I've been power leveling my sneak skills, so they won't be able to find me anyway. Which weapon should I choose though? Since I'm fighting zombies, it has to be that right?

I open the gate and start looking for my practice targets, I mean zombies. I keep walking and I begin to smell something wretched and decaying; I think I found them. I see a group of three zombies moaning and groaning at one another. Above their heads were their name and level as usual.

[Frail Zombie] LVL 5

[Frail Zombie] LVL 3

[Frail Zombie] LVL 3

I summoned my trusty weapon made with pure Mana. It was a long bat that could just barely fit in my small hands with nails stuck in the body of it. My [Mana Concealment] skill has been deactivated, but that's no problem since my [Stealth] is still in affect, and I doubt they have detection skills.

I walk towards them as if I was on a walk in the park, slowly and leisurely. I activate my Prana cloak on my arms as well as Superhuman Strength while I walk behind one of the level three zombies. As soon as I within melee range, which is pretty short even though the bat is as long as I am tall, I get into a good swinging form. Let's see how frail these things are. I swing as hard as I can at it's torso since I can't reach its head.

The nail covered bat came into contact with the Zombie, and something unexpected happened. I thought that with my strength being as low as it is and Superhuman Strength only adds +25 to STR; I thought it would just knock it over.

The outcome was much more dramatic. The entrails of the zombie were littering the the street while its torso flew towards the other level three zombie and took its head off, getting blood everywhere. I stood there wide eyed for a few seconds. The lower half of the zombie dropped to it's knees and fell over.

It seems that I greatly underestimated Prana's abilities. I'll have to test this out later, but for now, I have another zombie waddling closer to me. I unequip the bat and raise my right hand and made the zombie stop in it's tracks with [Telekinesis]. Then I turned my hand, twisting the spinal cord of the level 5 zombie 180 degrees, killing it. This is....This is so much fun!

"NANI!?"

I clicked on the kill notification to see if there was more info....

[Due to the nature of Instant dungeons, no EXP can be awarded for killing the creatures within.]

So, in other words, since these zombies aren't real, they give no EXP? Seriously? I wasted so much time leveling this skill when I would have been better off with the Empty dungeon!

"Hmm? There's another notification?"

[Quest Granted: A "Worthless" Endeavor]

[Quest: A "Worthless" Endeavor

Task: Clear the Undead Dungeon

Reward: 1000 EXP, A Blessing in Disguise

Punishment for failure: Possible Death, A Missed Opportunity]

"Interesting, I wonder what this 'blessing in disguise' is....only one way to find out! HAHAHAHAH!" I laugh as I run towards another group of zombies.

It's a group of ten this time so I should be careful. Yeah, like that's gonna happen!

"Maximum Effort!" I say as I activate God-Speed, High Durability, and Superhuman Strength.

I use High Durability on my arms so they don't get destroyed. I throw myself at the first one in the group. I jump and aim my fist just below his nose, the weakest part of the skull. My fist makes contact and his head turned into mist. Since I'm fast and almost silent, they can't even see that I've already dusted one their own so I move to the next, then the next, then the next. When they finally find out what's happening, half of their group is already dead.

Two of them attack me at once and I attack the knee of one while I swat the hands of the other away. This made me lose balance for a moment but I fixed myself using [Telekinesis]. While I finish off the two attacking me, the last three come my way. I create a sword that resembles Ichigo's sword from Bleach, but it's more thin and useable. I slash horizontally faster than a speeding car, bisecting the rest of the group.

"Wow, this is like a medieval version of CoD zombies." I muse.

[Skill: Mana Constructs has leveled up!]

[Skill: Crafting has leveled up!]

[Skill: Blunt Weapon Mastery (passive) LVL 1

I take a break before heading to the next group. After that, I kill group after group, leveling my skills and killing zombies in every way I can imagine. For Example, using a zombie as a bat to kill another zombie, or using telekinesis to make them fight each other. I keep mowing through waves of zombies until I finally get bored and just start looking for the boss instead.

I am now laying on top of a house in a residential district, waiting for the boss to come. Just as I was about to fall asleep, I hear a small rumble coming from the distance.

*boom*Boom**BOOM*

I turned off my [Mana Concealment] and sat out in the open so it could find me. As the grotesque amalgamation of flesh made its way closer to me, the smell was slowly becoming unbearable. The regular zombies' smell was more like freshly rotting food, but this one...this one smells like rotten milk mixed with draugr puke. It's in one word, putrid. I need to end this as quickly as possible.

[Rotten Giant] LVL 12

The disgusting ball of nastiness was almost close enough to attack me. It was twice the size of any of the houses in the area, and I looked like an ant in comparison. This thing would be scary in most cases, but I'm much too angry to be scared. I have gamers mind and anime on my side! So, for the first time since entering this dungeon, I use a spell of my own creation...

"I Hereby Declare: Any foe that stands in my way shall stand no more. Become one with the clouds in the sky. Decrease Weight!"

I write out the step two spell and flick my finger just before his "fist" could reach me. His body left the ground and started to float. This was never going to be a fight, it simply can't be a fight if the other party never stood a chance to begin with. It may sound cocky, but it is the truth. There's no need to drag this out, so I use [telekinesis] to make him go as high in the sky as possible. After he hit the "ceiling" of the dungeon, I say...

"Release"

As it started to fall to its inevitable death, it could only scream a flail uncontrollably. As it reached terminal velocity, I sped up the process by pulling it down by using [Telekinesis] once more. hastening its approach and then...

*BOOOOOOM**SPLAT*

An explosion of rotten bodies and organs went in every direction, ending its pathetic existence. How unsatisfying.

[You killed a Rotten Giant!] +$1000, NO EXP REWARDED

[Quest Complete!] +1000 EXP
