The two people infront of me were fighting barehanded, covered in faint light of red and purple chakra. Both had resolute expressions on their face. The physical arts of ninja were not about strength. As long as one managed to knead chakra properly, he/she could even smash an enormous rock. The Patriarch's hand was filled with chakra, covering it in faint blue flames.
The sheer force of Fugaku's punch caused the air around his hand to shook greatly and knocked father into an impressive distance.
However, that was not the end of the spar.
Father was one of the people who matched Fugaku Uchiha in the terms of ninja ability.
As father was flying with an incredible speed through the air, his body folded itself and his feet landed on the land, skidding through the surface.
As his skidding came to a halt, he looked straight into the shining, crimson eyes of the Patriarch with his own pair of Sharingan.
The Patriarch's hands once more folded into different symbols and slammed into the ground.
He shouted in a voice that shook the surroundings,
"Earth Style: Great Deathly Stakes!"
'What an ominous name', I thought.
As the jutsu activated, the Earth once again molded itself into innumerable sharp stakes and launched towards my father in blinding speed.
My father's pair of eyes was the infamous, three-tomoe Sharingan. This level of Sharingan provides the user with considerable perception.
So, my father was viewing the earthly stakes coming towards him with a slow speed. He took out a wide, two-edged sword from it's scabbard hanging around his waist, lowered his body, his pair of legs in a vertical line and his sword behind his body. He murmurred the name of a technique that was lost in the loud sounds of the large stakes cutting through air -
"Lighting Style: The Sword Of Victory"
As the stakes were only at a distance of some metres from my father, my blood ran cold. At that moment, the piercing stakes really didn't look any dodgeable for my father.
So, he didn't dodge. His wide sword glowed brightly in an attractive, blue light. As the stakes were closing in, he swung his glowing sword in a horizontal arc. Then, a destructive beam of pure hot electricity shot out from the sword in an wide arc, reducing the stakes into atoms.
As the flashing show ended, I opened my eyes that I had before, closed to protect from the blinding light.
There stood my father and Fugaku Uchiha in all their glory with calm expressions on their face. They stood there like nothing happened at all.
The timer in the round, mechanical device in my hand stopped and I raised my plam high in the sky and shouted, "The spar ends now!"
They walked towards each other and laughed. I was with Sasuke, who was currently starstrucked at sight of the pair.
He took my hand without my consent and ran towards them, cheerfully. Of course, I had to ran with him too.
We reached where our respective fathers were. I forgot to mention but my father and Sasuke's father are best friends. They had pleasant smiles marred on their features.
They were both greatly joyed at the delicious taste of their spar.
Fugaku laughed once again with his laugh knowing no bounds and exclaimed,
"Your fabulous attack never fails to impress me, Izaya..!"
It was the first time Sasuke saw his father laughing like that. He didn't laugh like that even in the presence of his own family!
My firm and stern looking father, who was now also smiling pleasantly, laughed and replied back to his friend while rubbing the back of his head sheepishly,
"Thanks, but your ominious attack never ceases to scare me.."
'Scare you?', I thought, displeased at his words, You had the most chill expression at that time when the stakes were closing in on you.
My eyes moved towards right at the owner of the childish, admiring voice, which said,
"You two were so cool..! I never knew so you both were so strong, father."
The person in the sentence looked down towards his son, with a brow raised upwards and light amusement in his eyes,
"Now you know how strong we are.. Right, Sasuke..?"
Sasuke repeatedly nodded his head, as if to say 'Yes'. The seven-year old Sasuke was even now getting goosebumps just by remembering the fight. Anybody could notice that just by looking at his face.
It was both his and my first time seeing them spar.
Normally when our fathers spar to hone their skills in their free time, me and Sasuke would go to another training area where we would spar, talk and practice kunai and shuriken throwing. And when we would come back, we would witness the scarred and roasted ground.
Today, my curiousity got better of me and we stayed here to witness their fight.
What we witnessed here would surely take some time to get off our mind. I didn't regret my decision of staying here and not train. I don't know if I learned something or not, but this was surely a new and refreshing experience for both me and Sasuke.
The sun began to settle down between the clouds and the sky turned orange. I could smell the scent of roasted grass and ground.
Noticing the sunset, Fugaku said,
"Hey Izaya, what about coming at our home for dinner? Mikoto would have finished making the food by now."
Sasuke seemed excited at that thought.
He just wanted to spend his time with me, not that I would hate that.
Unfortunately for him and me,
"Sorry Fugaku, I think that Hina has also prepared the food. I asked her to make ramen for us today. Maybe, some other time.."
Fugaku unintentionally showed a little depleasure at that, it seemed that he really wanted to eat with his friend.
I closed my eyes with my head down.
Poor guy... Or not, I'm not sure about him.
But he seemed like a good guy in the family gatherings.. In the anime, he was also shown as a good and serious man. He was being pressured by his clan members.. Well, everyone has their own responsibilities and burdens.
I felt pity for him and anger at him the same time. If he tries his best, then there is the chance that he can stop the rebellion.
Well there is no use mulling over useless thoughts, I have a plan of my own. I just have to make sure that it works well.
The brown-haired Patriarch said,
"Oh well, that's a pity...Yeah..some other time..", while looking at Sasuke who was now saddened, from the corner of his eye.
"I really enjoyed the spar.", he lightly bowed towards father, who did the same towards Fugaku,
"The feeling is mutual."
They sure loved to act restrained and elegant.
"Now, let's go Sasuke, we wouldn't want the food to cool down.", Fugaku suddenly grabbed the small hand of Sasuke and started walking towards the direction of their house.
Sasuke was suprised by the unusual and sudden action of his father. He faced down towards the ground as he felt happy and the heat reddened his cheeks. He suddenly seemed to remember something, turned back while walking and waved his free right hand at us,
"Bye Uncle and Shou!"
We also waved in response. They weren't at much distance when Fugaku suddenly stopped dead at his tracks, startling Sasuke.
His voice changed from the previous carefree manner to a serious tone,
"We'll next meet at the Shrine, right Izaya..?"
My father's voice turned grim,
"Yeah..."
Nodding his head once, Fugaku resumed his journey with Sasuke, holding his hand firmly.
"Well then, take care.", he added. Fugaku's words faded into the drifting, melancholic air.
My father didn't reply as he watched them disappear from his vision into the forest.
He looked towards me with a slight smile and nudged me to follow him towards our home. Even my father tried to changed the mood with his smile on the way, the silent and sad air stayed.
We went to home, met mother and ate food, well to be specific, we ate ramen. That delicious food, somehow turned my mood pleasant. We prayed for each other for a good night and sweet dreams.
I went into my room, turned the lamp on as the darkness was slowly becoming unbearable, just by thinking about the future.
The now-lighted lamp was on a stool that was placed beside the head of the bed, on which I was currently relaxing.
It was the time of night. My windows were open and I could feel the cold, relaxing breeze on my skin through the window.
It was really good to live surrounded by trees. Suddenly, I became serious, folded my legs, rested my hand on my knees and started to practice my self-made techniques using my chakra. I accessed my chakra at the age of 1 and experimented with it in my free time, which I seemed to have in large amounts.
'That system has not appeared', a thought suddenly crossed my mind, however I payed it no heed and continued training my techniques.
After some time of practice, I drifted into sleeping.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The child that was now sleeping was 7 years old. He was in the ninja academy with all his peers.
He and Sasuke had equal grades. He deliberately matched Sasuke and didn't perform to the best of his abilities as he didn't want Sasuke to hate him. It was just a childish desire, nothing less and nothing more.
If he were to be awake right now, he would find a blue, transparent screen flickering in front of his eyes. It was his desire.
But there is no problem as he would find a pleasant suprise, he would have the deepest of his desires in his hands in the morning. This desire, this external power -
The SYSTEM, would surely aid him in his path
of being the greatest ninja of all time.
