Chapter 36: Royal Family

This entire time, Caleb has been keeping one of the biggest secrets, from me.

I was completely shocked; everything was starting to feel like an illusion. I couldn’t move, or think normally. Caleb started to wave his fingers in front of me, trying to get my attention. I felt frozen in time.

“You there, Paige? Please, focus,” Caleb continued motioning.

“I’m here, I’m here,” I blurted out.

I sat back down, and tried to register what Caleb just told me. The reason Caleb’s parents are now in prison, is because of my family. This seemed too far fetched, but it started to make sense. The art, why he was at the castle, and the excuses.

Caleb always knew how to keep things from me, and made a quick excuse for them. I had no idea that this was going to be another reason. I started to feel nauseous.

“I thought I lost you there,” Caleb murmured.

“You almost did,” I uttered.

“I know you’re mad that I’ve been keeping this from you, but I couldn’t bring myself to tell you.”
