Yordar sneered, then pointed up at Justin and Adonica, and shouted something. His soldiers all looked up. Those not working on the new bridge drew their swords.
"That was inevitable, I think," Adonica said. "Time to move."
She passed him by and took the lead down the stairs. Justin did his best to follow, amazed at how gracefully-and recklessly-she moved, taking stairs two, sometimes three at a time.
"We'll split up!" Justin shouted, panting. "I'll draw them off while you go get the others."
"You damn fool, you'll get yourself killed," Adonica called back. "You get the others, and I'll draw the soldiers away. Got it?"
"Then you're the one who'll get killed!" said Justin.
"And which of us is worth more alive? Use your head, angel."
"I wish you'd stop calling me-!"
Justin didn't finish his sentence. At that moment, daemyn's long silence was broken.
