In the next few hours, I came to find out what man he truly was. I knew he had a temper but could never imagine this. The real person, not the mask he wore in front of me. He hid it all and I was left in utter shock. He hadn't worked in over 2 years. He was fired because of his drug use and misuse of company funds. He had been using drugs the entire time we had been married. He had amounted to massive debt, over $100,000. He had taken out loans and credit cards in my name. I owed $65,000. He had been using all the money I made to support his drug and women habit instead of paying the bills. He had his own apartment that he brought his lady friends over to entire him. All his business trips were him doing women and drugs. He lived a whole other life I didn't even know about.
I had nowhere to go. I was homeless and penniless. I asked an officer to borrow his phone, there was only one person I could call. My mom. I had to explain what had happened and before I could ask for help, she offered. She spoke to the officer, and they offered to drive me to the airport.
The next thing I know I was on a flight back home. I was still in utter shock, but I was happy to be going home. I missed New York and I hadn't seen my mom in a long time. I was so scared of what the future would hold but I knew Michael would be safe. No matter what, he was about to have a better life. I made a promise that I would do whatever it took to make that happen. I just had no idea what exactly that would mean.
