THE DRAGON MATE SAGA

Fiona's (p.o.v)

"SPLASH" was the sound the bucket of water made when it landed all over my face. I groaned and sat up glaring at my best friend Ina who stood there with an empty bucket in her hand and a devious smirk plastered on her annoyingly cute face. Ina was looking as beautiful as always, her red hair neatly braided and falling behind her back. She was still smiling at my wet self and I flung a pillow at her, she dodged it and chuckled again. "come on Fiona it's time to get up, will you spend the whole day in bed?" She asked and I glared again. "No I don't plan on spending the whole day in bed but I don't think a bucket of cold water was the best way to wake me up" I said as I got up and wiped my face. "Well is that so? I think it's a great way of waking you up, your hair looks better when it's wet" she says holding in another laugh. "Okay get out before I forget you're my bestie and roast your butt" "well now I'm interested, it's a bit chilly anyway so maybe your fire can warm me up" she says smiling. "Ina just go" I groan to her, she is so annoying. "Okay fine, I'll go. Just get ready fast cause we need to go to the throne room to meet your parents " I was already cleaning my hair with a towel but I stopped to look at her when I heard this "throne room? What happened?" She shook her head. "I'll explain on our way there, go get ready" I nodded and headed into the bathroom to take a bath.

About 15 minutes later I came out of the bathroom as clean as ever. I saw Ina sitting on the side of my bed that wasn't wet. I went over to the mirror and sat down to brush my hair. I stared back at my reflection and smiled. I had blonde hair and brown eyes but they turned red anytime I was angry. Sorry I didn't Introduce myself, my name is Fiona Drakon the only daughter and last child to king Blake and Queen Lilian, I have two older brothers who so happen to be twins Damon and Damien. They both have brown hair but Damon has blue eyes while Damien has Gray eyes and they're both 6'2, they're pretty tall, I know. If you haven't guessed by now what I am with the last name and other things then fine I'll say it. I am a Dragon shifter, a Royal one at that. The princess of Alynthi kingdom located in the dragon Realm. I live in the castle with my parents,brothers, other people of royalty, my best friends Ina and Jeremy and of course other chiefs and servants. The Dragon realm is a really interesting place. When I was younger I used to wonder why we didn't live in the human realm but I was told that it had to do with the first set of dragon shifters who existed long ago. It turns out that long ago humans, dragons and the fae lived together in harmony but humans being well... humans got jealous about the fact that the dragons and fae were more powerful than them and so they started plotting their downfall. They made use of fire which was the fae's weakness and war started between them. When the fae and dragons realized that the humans were growing in knowledge and skills to harm them, they decided to leave the human realm. The most powerful elders of the fae that were still alive worked hard and were able to create a new realm. It cost them their lives but they felt that it was worth it to keep their people safe. All the dragon shifters and remaining fae left the human realm and for a while peace reigned. The peace however did not last because after some years the humans were able to get into the dragon realm through a portal that was originally used in creating the realm. Only the last leaders of the fae and the royal dragon family knew about this portal so they didn't understand how the humans found out about it. It was later discovered that one of the daughters of the fae councilors had fallen in love with a human and in the process of visiting him on the human realm she had mistakenly revealed the secret of the portal to him. He coaxed her into opening it so that he could come visit but it was all a plan and he was just using her. The attack was severe and even though the dragon shifters were eventually able to defeat the humans and their weapons, many fae fell that day and only a few were left of them. After the war the few remaining fae left and were never seen again. After that the realm became known as the dragon realm and no one has heard anything about the fae ever since.

I wonder where those remaining fae are. Are they still alive and hiding somewhere? Are they dead? Was everything we were told just a lie to cover the truth about what really happened that time? I snap out of my thoughts when I hear Ina talking. "Come on we'll be late, everyone will be in the throne room by now" I put down the brush and turn to her "okay I'm ready. But what happened though?" Ina doesn't reply, she just grabs my hand and pulls me out of my room and before I know it we're both running towards the throne room.

The fact that we're running doesn't stop me from asking my questions. "So what happened Ina?" I asked as the wind whipped my hair around my face. Ina looked at me once before looking ahead again. "it's something bad Fiona, really bad" my eyebrows wrinkled at this. "What happened? What do you mean?" I asked her and she turned to look at me again. "It's... People... You'll find out when we get there" she finally says and I keep quiet. Something must be really wrong.
