Nara.
Within a beautiful cafe, the most popular within the city, two men sat down as they conversed over hot beverages.
Under them were clean cream coloured tiles that had the elegant design of a light green clover over a simplistic vector of a mug.
The tables were made of polished dark brown wood, giving off a beautiful feel with their flawless round design.
On the walls how a high-quality wallpaper with a pristine white colour, numerous lights arranged into shapes on low beam.
One of the two-man looked to be middle-aged with long black hair. Two hazel coloured eyes decorated his face, along with sunken cheeks and a high nose.
He wore an elegant long coat with a high collar and black flat front pants.
He sipped his coffee and closed his eyes to enjoy the taste within his mouth.
"Centuries of life make you less appreciative of the lesser things in life," he said.
The other man, who had short brown hair and satin grey eyes only smiled as he gazed at his cappuccino.
"Is that why you brought me here, Grand Sorcerer Samuel?" he asked.
"Not quite. Discussing matters while in an Outspace becomes a less attractive endeavour over time. I figured a more normal environment will do the trick," said Grand Sorcerer Samuel.
"Fair enough. Though, I don't share the same philosophy. What would like to discuss with me?" the other man asked.
"I heard that you were eager to know a lot about the Order ever since you were recruited, Eli. So I thought I'd indulge you before you decide to leave," said Samuel.
Eli contemplated as he looked at the Grand Sorcerer.
"It's only natural that I want to know," he said. "Why are you taking so long to destroy the Mobius of Arcana? You have been killing their Sorcerers for decades. Why won't you just end it?"
Samuel smiled at the reply he got from Eli. It was a typical youngster question riddled with impatience.
"The Order of Somacht is not an organisation made to kill. We are builders. However, we are not starting from the ground. A foundation was already laid before us. By the Great Ancestor. We only want the knowledge that he left behind. I am one of the remnants of his legacy. And I wish to take it back," he said as he took another sip of the dark beverage.
"With all due respect, sir. That doesn't answer my question," Eli said with a frown.
"That is because I haven't finished talking. Patience boy," Grand Sorcerer Samuel said with a sharp look in his eye that brought forth a menacing golden glow.
Eli hurriedly apologised and looked at his cappuccino.
"It hardly takes seven decades to eliminate the Mobius of Arcana. However, cornered prey is capable of a whole lot of things that I'd rather avoid. There are three main reasons for our delay," Samuel said.
"The first is that the Mobius has a lot of powerful Grand Sorcerers. Unlike us, they specialise in some powerful classes of sorcery. Under their doctrine of what sorcery is of course. Acting rashly will be unwise.
The second is that we have been traversing the Spirit World and building our bases in other Modas worlds. Therefore we only created enough trouble for the Mobius to act as a distraction."
Eli almost stood from his seat. The incredulous look on his face depicted the sheer amount of shock that hit him at this revelation.
"Ot-ther Modas worlds??! But that's impossible. Isn't it impossible the reach the other worlds? I've read that the distance between our worlds is even farther than the distance from ours to Absodahl! Even by Spirit World standards," Eli said.
"Indeed. The creatures from the Spirit World also do not trade for transport to another Modas world. It is difficult to do. But we did. With the legacy that we currently have from the Great Ancestor. All the more reasons for you to be proud to be a member," said Samuel with a grin.
Eli was still perturbed by this information, scrambling through his brain to find out if there was something he could find that supported such.
"The third reason is that we are currently on the hunt for a particular individual. A man by the name Hugh Rolien. He was once a Grand Sorcerer of the Order but he left and took something that he shouldn't have," Samuel said with a hint of malice that caused the air to become blazing hot for a fraction of a second.
Eli gulped down in fear.
"What did he steal?" he asked as he almost quivered.
Samuel retained his calm visage and answered.
"The legacy of the Grand Ancestor is more than just a bunch of recorded research papers. There was something else. It was a statue imbued with Ancestor's power and sorcery. However, to use it, a key was required. Hugh stole that key and fled," explained Samuel.
"He was once a devout member of the Order. However, after he found the love of a woman, he suddenly changed. She was a Gifted. Hugh lost sight of the goal, believing that treading this path would harm his lover. Thus he ran."
Eli was still trying to wrap his head around the fact that someone actually dared to do such a thing.
"He bore three children. Triplets that we are looking for. It is unknown whether he or his family are still in Eriss or another Modas world. However, we will find him," said Samuel as he looked at Eli.
He understood that this young man had much he had to learn before he could be considered a member that was truly for the cause of the Order. He earnestly believed that those that saw them as terrorists were nothing but hypocrites who fought for their own beliefs but refused to accept those of others which irked him.
He felt the same about Hugh.
"We have devised a way to do just that," he smiled eerily.
