"Luca. The new face of Zkinfluence."
Georgina examined the beguiling woman, who was smiling brightly at her. Her lips parted, amazed by the beauty and radiance of the woman. Luca was more beautiful in person than on those billboards and commercials she had seen.
"Yes, I heard." Georgina smiled back, eyes falling on the black Persian cat in the woman's arms. "It was nice meeting you here, Miss Luca."
She glanced at the surroundings before setting her eyes back on Luca. "Are you alone?"
"Yes. I came to unwind and spend my break peacefully. Are you…?"
"Yes," Georgina answered even before Luca could finish her sentence. "Would you like to join me for lunch?"
"I would love to." Luca's lips stretched, and at the same time, Nova also cheered; "well, of course, we will, my little white chick!"
Luca excused herself for a minute to get herself a plate but returned with a tray full of a variety of dishes. Georgina laughed awkwardly, seeing that the table that only had a single plate and a few side dishes now turned into a feast.
"Please excuse my appetite. I need to make the best of this break," Luca explained in a friendly tone, eliciting a smile from the woman sitting across from her.
"It's fine. I totally understand." Georgina waved, watching Luca serve Nova a small plate of raw fish.
"Yum!" Nova licked her lips, favoring Luca more and more with her generosity.
Pleased at Luca's apparent fondness for her pet, Georgina's impression of the woman significantly grew better.
"She is a little sassy and a picky eater," Luca strike up a conversation, using Nova as the icebreaker as she raised her attention to Georgina.
"Haha. So it's just the two of you?" asked Georgina, receiving a nod from her as an answer. "You must be very fond of her to spend your break with only the two of you."
"She's like my daughter." Luca nearly bit her tongue when Nova harrumphed in protest.
'Say I'm your daughter again and I'll let you know this great ancestor's wrath!'
"That is nice." Georgina's eyes softened, unaware of Nova and Luca's current mental dispute.
"How about you, Madam Kane? Are you here alone?" asked Luca, hiding her prying eyes with a kind smile. The slight change and discomfort that resurfaced in Georgina's eyes didn't go past her radar before the latter replaced it with a kind smile.
"Yes." Georgina didn't add anything further, which was Luca's cue to stop prying.
"She is alone, or rather, she was stood up." Nova meowed indifferently while enjoying a piece of sashimi.
"Well, sometimes, we really need some time off for ourselves." Luca feigned ignorant at Nova's comment as she cast Georgina an understanding smile. Pleased that Luca didn't press on the matter, Georgina's impression of the lady increased.
The two women chatted as they enjoyed their meal. Although Georgina was a meek and awkward person with almost zero skills in talking to a stranger, Luca's jolly personality livened up the mood. Being in the entertainment circle for a decade, Luca had honed her social skills, and it didn't take long for Georgina to feel comfortable with her.
"I had seen your recent movie, and it's a little surprising how you are so different in person," Georgina confessed as she recovered from laughing. Luca was a bit taken aback by it, but she still smiled in return.
"Really?" Luca tucked a portion of her hair behind her ear. "Well, my character there is a little… complicated."
"That is why I became a fan because I cried a river when your character died." Georgina's eyes twinkled as tears shone in her eyes at the sheer thought of the scene. "I watched it with my husband, and that's why I fully supported the idea of having you as the face of Zkinfluence."
'What?' Nova stopped munching her food as she sat up to see Georgina. Luca was just as surprised as her cat, staring blankly at Georgina momentarily.
"Really?" Luca whispered.
"Mhm." Unaware of the conflict in Luca's eyes, Georgina smiled while forking a piece of squared carrot on her plate. "My husband promised to arrange a meeting with you since I've watched all the movies you starred in right after the recent movie you did."
"Oh…" Georgina trailed off, biting her tongue, realizing she was oversharing. She laughed awkwardly, pursing her lips, wondering if she sounded pretentious when she pretended to barely know Luca when the latter approached her.
'My gosh…' Nova slurped her fish, thrilled to see the slight progress of this story. 'So, she's the one who was actually the reason you and that piece of rotten garbage met? My, my… she must be devastated when she realized the woman she admired and her husband were rolling in the sheet?'
"Madam Kane…" Luca's eyes were soft, waiting for the other woman to raise her head. "I'm sorry."
"Hmm?"
Luca's lips stretched as she shrugged. "I mean, thank you for supporting me and appreciating my work. It is such an honor."
"No, Miss Luca. You are an amazing artist." Georgina shook her head, praising Luca as the woman deserved it.
"Luca." Her brows rose when Luca corrected. "Please, Madam Kane. Just call me Luca."
Georgina pursed her lips before she smiled. "Then, call me George or Ina. Although I prefer the former."
"Haha. Why do you prefer George?" Luca asked out of plain curiosity, knowing Xander called her Ina. Was it because she only liked being called Ina by him?
"I don't know." Georgina shrugged. "It just… it makes me feel a little more than when called Ina."
'That motherfucker son of a bitch!' Nova flared, pressing her claws on the leather cushion underneath her.
'That bastard…' Luca's blood also boiled. 'Does that piece of trash know that?'
"Of course he doesn't! And he doesn't care!" Nova seethed. Fortunately, from the eyes of others, Nova was only rubbing her paws on the leather cushion.
"Then, I'll call you George from now on." Unlike Nova, Luca maintained her composure as she returned Georgina's kind smile.
"Thank you, Lu."
