Blanca's oversleeping should not have come as a surprise.
She had paced the floor of her chamber for over an hour before finally accepting that Dimitri would not return. That there wouldn't be any pain, torment, or sex? She wasn't thrilled. Of course not, she reasoned to herself. Not yet, at any rate. She wasn't ready to accept that it wasn't in her future. It was still a surprise when she finally awoke and discovered it was past four o'clock in the afternoon. She checked her phone and received many messages from her boss, yet she ignored them as she yawned.
Oh hell, she had not only slept, but she had slept deeply and without dreams. Odd. Very odd.
It was unprecedented. Strange. It has to be the feather-filled mattress. She soothed herself as she screamed a few choice insults and hurried to the bathroom to splash water on her face. It couldn't be that she felt at ease in the company of vampires.
That would be completely absurd.
