Chester is a 28 year old, worn-out Cop in a world of demons, heroes and villains. With more than a decade's worth of time working in law enforcement, he's experienced a little too much of the world. One fateful night, he decides to smoke a quick cigarette in an alleyway but stops himself as he finds a curious and abandoned demon girl and takes her in. How will this encounter change his life? How is it like to live in a world where there are those who wield anomalous powers? What are the things he's seen in his time? And what is it like to spark an old flame?
08/17/20XX.
20 years ago.
The first record of the "phenomenon".
A strong typhoon descended upon a rural sea side area. Rain poured from the skies in terrifying waves, thunder crackled as men, women and children tried to evacuate. As citizens carried their possesions to shelter, an incident would change the course of human history for ages and ages to come.
"HELP! PL-EASE! D-DAD! I... I DON'T WANNA D...IE!"
"SON! NO!"
They were nothing but citizens trying to evacuate. They were nothing but a happy family looking out for eachother. So why was it that they were the ones chosen for such a traumatic event?
A young boy had slipped into the river as he tried to evacuate along with his family. He had tried to pick up the teddy bear of her little sister that he knew she loved so dearly but that act of kindness quickly brought on tragedy.
"DAMNIT! HE'S TOO FAR IN, WE CAN'T REACH HIM!"
The uncaring currents of the river collided with the boy's body, slowly tearing away at his frail vessel as he held on for dear life on a large rock. Rescuers unable to reach him, as the downpour of rain along with the boy's location hampered their ability or they risked even more lives to the uncaring currents of the river. The boy fought the waves bravely yet... oh so futile. After what felt like an eternity, his strength faded and his body was taken by the currents.
"N-no... NO! NOT MY SON, PLEASE!"
It was a tragedy. An act of pure kindness turnt against the one who tried to do good. Some were silent, some were crying. All felt grief and sorrow. What if the boy just didn't try to help? What if rescuers took that risk? Many questions ran through their heads but nobody was to truly blame.
"W-Wait! TH-THAT'S-"
There was a moment of silence, for grievances and sorrow.
...
....
...
...but that's when the phenomenon occured.
"W-Wait! TH-THAT'S-"
Suddenly, the water seemed to bend around an area and created a ring of land where the waves did not touch. At the middle of it... was the boy's unconcious body.
All those who saw it couldn't believe their eyes. What was happening? Was this some sort of scientific occurence? Many questions arose yet again but the safety of the boy came first. Rescuers wee able to extract the boy's body and swiftly give him medical attention.
"W-We're not d-dreaming are we...?!"
After the boy's lengthful recovery, they had found a phenomenon. He was able to control water at will. This was a significant discovery within the modern era and soon more of these phenomenons had started to appear. Tragedies turned power however, that wasn't a good thing.
Chaos struck. Those with powers started to cause chaos, crime rates skyrocketing to unprecidented levels that the world had never seen before. Murder, Robbery, Kidnappings just a regular occurence at this time. Law enforcement had started to become overwhelmed, many quit there jobs as some of these powers... could cause a fate worse than death. Public image of police officers and closely related jobs started to fall.
The government hurriedly made action, if they had not - peace may never be brought upon again. They couldn't give time for those who possesed powers to form groups or a tipping point may have been reached. After discussion, a plan had been set. Special Phenomenon Agents, publicly known as "Heroes" this was officially made as a legal job career along with the hero course program. A program made for those with powers to fight against criminals who themselves had gone through the phenomenon, now being identified as "villains" for the public's eye to see them as such.
The hero course program had worked. Crime rates started to fall and public image of law enforcement had begun to recover. However, that is not the end of this story.
Demons, as they are called - are beings that seem to have close to the anatomy of humans. However they have horns on their head - they have long, thin tails on their back and most notably - deep, red skin. Not only this, but they possess much greater physical ability compared to an average human - this may seem great but this immense physical prowess has a cost, the need for more energy. Demons may need 1.5 to 2 times the amount of calories that a human needs to survive, thus they tend to keep smaller families.
In the recent decade crime rates and villain activity has started to skyrocket yet again. We follow Chester, a 28 year old worn-out cop as he meets an abandoned demon kid as they live their daily lives in this world of Heroes, Demons and Villains.
