Ingrid's eyes wandered along the hallway as they walked. The mansion's architecture was highly intricate and ornate. Every arch and pillar was finely crafted, but the décor was surprisingly sparse. The place was spotless and well-maintained, yet its simplicity contrasted with the elaborate structure, making it feel both elegant and restrained.
Christine paused midway down the corridor and excused herself. "I'll see to the arrangements for your belongings, Your Highness," she said, bowing slightly before hurrying off, leaving Ingrid and Caym.
"Grand Commander," Ingrid began, glancing sideways at him, "don't you have duties to attend to?"
Caym raised an eyebrow, a playful glint in his eyes. "Am I being shooed away?" he asked, his tone teasing.
Ingrid shot him a brief exasperated look, her lips curving slightly. "What a mind reader," she muttered.
