Chapter Twelve: I Did It Better

Preparation
"The alpha is a kind and loving man, he has been since childhood. He was never like his father, but he has his own flaws. He is a man of peace and would do anything to stop the recurring war" my maid said.
" But why had he done nothing to stop the war?" I asked curiously
"It is because we need an elite warrior to advise the Alpha and the pack soldiers on what to do. The selfish elders only think of themselves and nothing more ". The maid said and I know she is right about it. The elders over the years are known to make passive decisions and nothing more .
" I can say you are definitely right about that" then she suddenly stood up as if she remembered something,
"You have to get ready to join the other maidens now, come on " she urged me on as I reluctantly went in to take my bath .
But I was surprised as she followed me in, I didn't notice her until I was naked. I turned and became startled as I tried by all means to cover myself up.
" What are you doing here ?" I asked her as I went for my clothes .
But she was more swift than me as she went ahead to get the cloth off the floor.
"I am here to help you wash up and get ready" she said as she started the water and it ran down my body, as she went ahead to take the wash sponge and some soap and started washing me.
The last time someone washed me was when I was seven, this someone was my mother. I just stood there and allowed her to do her business while I thought how the female royals were so lazy to even wash up themselves.
So many traditions and ceremonies that were unnecessary that were being celebrated should have been stopped years ago, but have still kept on going on decades upon decades. As soon as she was done she wrapped a clean dried towel over me and I made my way out .
She cleaned me up and then she picked me a simple strapped dress that went below my knees. It covered my whole upper body. Being one of the chosen maidens, none of us were allowed to expose too much skin. I made my way out of the room.
We both walked down the palace as she opened a large door that led to a hall that looked like a banquet hall.
"Please go ahead Miss Jackia, I will join you in a bit before we head out"
"Alright" I said as I made my way into the large room without hesitation and moved down toward the room which looked empty, until I fully got in.
But I was surprised to see two maidens sitting by the side of the large chairs ,
"Guess who decided to show her humble face to us? the only woman who had been touched by the Alpha" I looked back to be sure it was I that was been spoken to .
" Oh it you, yes you darling " she said pointing her fingers at me.
"Okay " I said in hope to avoid her and minded my business as I made my way to the other side of the room.
" So rude " I heard the other lady talk to the one that spoke earlier on .
" Of course why wouldn't she be rude , when she thinks she's superior to us , because she has seen and touched the Alpha unlike us. So let her enjoy the moment" the lady spoke about it with so much hatred , well I guess I just made enemies quite so early, isn't that so wonderful?.
"Oh please, I never wanted to be here and I do not wish to be seen in such a gathering fighting to win over a man's heart and end up being a baby maker all my life when there is war on our doorstep threatening to barge in any moment from then".
So pathetic of these women but not quite long another maiden, who was not only beautiful but had flawless skin. No doubt she would win the game at the end of it. At least I get to go back to being the elite warrior at the end of the day, shame on the moon goddess.
I said to myself making a mockery of the moon goddess, well I guess she knew what she was doing ,but this lady didn't acknowledge anybody as she sat down and looked elsewhere. Not quite long our maids came back and we all stood up and were escorted out of the palace to go get some new dresses.
But it took us several hours to get clothes we were to wear for the whole months we might be spending and to think that I wasn't the type to go search for clothes. I am so glad my personal maid was able to get it done for me.
She was quite helpful throughout the clothes selection process. Then we came back to the palace and had lunch on our own, but lunch wasn't like the way it should be. I made my way to sit at the table that was set down for us.
"How rude can you be?".
One of the maidens asked me to make me look stupid before everyone else, but I wasn't going to let that happen to me
"What do you mean ?"
"Did you just talk back to me? You low life"
" I will advise you not to speak to me in that manner you spoiled brat ".
Then she charged towards me with the intention to send a slap right across my face, but I was stronger and more flexible than her as I held her hand and bent it the other way round.
"Listen to me, I am not the type that you can bully around, watch what you say or do around me. I hope I have made myself clear?".
I asked as she squirmed in pain before I let her go and she refused to sit next to me and didn't utter a word till lunch was over. As we were being served, the fourth lady who happened to be Layla, spoke to us for the first time .
" Well I can see now that we are just up to four, but, let me just warn you all, none of you should cross my part pending the time you remain in this palace , as I will make sure you all are thrown out without delay".
"And who are you to threaten us ?" I asked her as I continued eating my food without looking up,
"I have heard a lot about you and the stupid stunt you pulled yesterday, so much coming from someone who was about to be made the elite warrior, so pathetic".
She laughed so hard, knowing she was on point and if I allowed her to get away with this she would have the courage to do much worse to me and the rest of the girls.
"At least I spent only a day with the Alpha and he treated me like a queen unlike some people who have had all the time but still the Alpha didn't notice her ".
There was an outburst of laughter and an angry looking Layla , well I guess she did it well but I did it better.
