Promising Encounters
Candy and I are busy on the internet, determined to find any trace of Sophia. We sift through countless social media profiles, old address records, and anything else we can get our hands on. After what feels like hours, Candy suddenly exclaims…
"I think I've found her!"
I rush over to her side, peering at the screen. There it is: a profile that matches the Sophia we are looking for. She now goes by Sophia Martins and lives not so far from where we are. We quickly find her contact numbers and email address.
"This is it,"
I say, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves.
"Let's call her."
Candy nods, handing me the phone. I dial the number, putting it on speaker as it rings. After a few rings, a familiar voice answers,
"Hello?"
"Hi, Sophia! This is Kattie Johnson. I hope you remember me – we used to know each other as kids. I'm calling with my best friend and business partner, Candy. You're on speakerphone, by the way."
