The man made a clumsy lunge forward with the knife. Ru stepped aside to avoid being stabbed.
Before the man could straighten up, Ru brought the iron stick down on his head with an even harder.
Crack!
Even though the metal stick was bent, it cracked the skull of the red-hooded attacker.
The attacker lost his balance and fell to the ground. Ru pounced on him and hit him several more times with the iron.
Thump! Thump! Thump!
The moans of pain from the attacker could be heard in the alley.
The girl screamed and started running away. However, Ru continued to beat the attacker. Ru's reasoning was: 'I'm not even in my own body. In this case, it's not me who will be tried for murder.'
"Die, Mr. Thargata! Die!"
There was no stopping him.
After a while, silence reigned. Panting, Ru looked around. There were no lights on, which meant that no one was interested in the sicko's death.
"Oh, that's cool," Ru said, looking at the attacker he was still sitting on. The man was disfigured, his face was covered in blood.
There were also blood stains on the nightgown that Ru had been wearing.
He stopped and took a breath. So his heart rate dropped and he was thinking more logically: 'Even if I'm identified as Jenna, I'm the one who will end up in prison. Damn it! What kind of fool am I?'
Ru decided to organize the crime scene to suit himself. First, he placed the bent fireplace poker in the corpse's hand and made it hold it. After making himself look like a victim by ripping his own nightgown in certain places and mussing up his hair, he put on his slippers and started walking briskly down the street.
He was going to find a shop and cry to the clerks there: "I was raped!" They had already murdered his or her family. "My poor parents, they were brutally murdered!"
If only he had taken his cell phone with him and if only he had worn a pair of boots instead of these plush fancy slippers with heels. If only he had packed an emergency bag in advance and thrown in some money and jewelry...
'Of course, If I had done that, the cops would have arrested me,' he thought.
As he walked, he scanned his surroundings for signs of danger, his senses on high alert. The night enveloped him, casting eerie, elongated shadows that danced in the faint light of the street lamps.
The footsteps echoed in the empty streets, growing louder with the silence surrounding him. He felt defenseless like a prey being stalked by a predator.
Suddenly, a sound from behind made Ru freeze in place. He spun around, suspicion coursing through him, but saw nothing but the deserted street stretching out before him.
Taking a deep breath, he continued on his way.
As Ru walked, his mind continued to be filled with uncertainties. On one hand, he worried about another issue: "What if demons attack?"
Lost in his thoughts, Ru didn't notice the figure hidden among the shadows until it was too late. A hand shot out, roughly seizing him by the arm and pulling him into the darkness of a narrow alley.
Before Ru could react, a low and menacing voice whispered in his ear.
"Where do you think you're going, little woman?"
As Ru struggled against the assailant, his heart pounded in his chest, but the grip of the attacker was like iron. He knew he was in trouble. If he wanted to escape, he had to think fast.
Ru tried to be as calm as possible to regain his strength. He did not react to the man's bad words. Then he aimed at the attacker's balls and kicked the spot with his plush, high-heeled slippers.
"Ouch!"
As the assailant caught off guard and doubled over in pain, Ru took a few steps backward. Grabbing the metal lid of the trash can he had spotted earlier, he swung it forcefully at the assailant's head.
THUD!
After that, he dashed down the alley.
The sounds of pursuit echoed behind him. As he raced through the labyrinthine alleys, the adrenaline coursing through his veins gave him strength.
But his pursuer was relentless, getting closer with each passing moment. Ru knew he couldn't run from him forever. 'Maybe it's Jenna's fate to be killed by a violator,' he couldn't shake the thought.
As he rounded the corner, Ru saw that a narrow alleyway was opening up on the right side of him. Without hesitation, he dove into the alley and pressed himself against the wall, holding his breath and trying to blend into the darkness.
A few seconds later, his pursuer rushed past him in the narrow space between the two of them. Ru held his breath and prayed to his goddess not to be seen hiding in the shadows.
After what seemed like an eternity, the sounds of the pursuit faded into the distance, leaving Ru alone in the alley's darkness. He breathed a sigh of relief.
He wondered, "Did I defeat fate?" Then he began to walk barefoot, taking off his precious slippers.
He kept looking behind him as he walked.
He couldn't see where he was going because he kept looking back.
He saw two lights closing in on him fast. And he heard people screaming, screaming, screaming, screaming.
"She's dead, she's gone! Gone," someone said.
Was someone dead? And if so, who was it?
