The Average DC Experience (COMPLETED)

One bad day is all it takes to send an average man to the fringes of madness, or so a wise, demented clown once said. But if one bad day that started with getting fired and ended with a meteor falling over one such average man's head didn't drive him insane, then maybe waking up in a fictional world full of monsters would do the trick? ... Are you sick of the usual power-wank, wish-fulfillment garbage? Are you tired of one-dimensional fanfiction protagonists? Have you had your fill of monotonous monologues and forced dialogues? Do you want to see steady, slow character development and power level growth? If you answered yes to all those questions, then congratulations! This is the story for you! ... I own nothing. Legally Blonde? #210

Inside the courthouse

The waiting area

"And they're home safe..." I muttered as I watched the armored escort truck enter the courthouse's parking lot, deactivating my personal computer power and putting away the phone I was holding for appearance's sake.

I wanted to get up, but I saw a familiar face walking into the waiting area, heading my way. I raised an eyebrow and remained seated, waiting for him to arrive.

He quickly closed the distance and stood in front of me in seconds.

"Danton Black, or maybe you prefer Multiplex...?" I said as I looked at the man's face, keeping my voice low. "What's a wanted crook like you doing here?" I asked, crossing my arms in front of my chest.

"Either is fine. There's something you need to see," Danton Black said as he retrieved a phone from his pocket, which he quickly unlocked and offered to me.

I shrugged as I took the phone and paused as I noticed a picture of Logan lying on the ground in a fetal position, tied up with a cloth gag in his mouth. He was clearly roughed up to boot, based on the bruises all over his body.

"You'll clear any misunderstandings regarding Amanda Waller the next time you're called to the stand..." he said as he reached to take the phone from my hand, and I let him have it as I gave him a cold stare.

"If you know what's good for the old man, that is," Danton Black said, shrugging his shoulders, clearly unphased by my look as he put the phone back into his pocket.

"How about you let him go, and I won't kill you instead?" I said, relaxing my expression as I smiled at him and activated my menacing presence, focusing it on the villain so no one else would feel it.

Danton Black's expression instantly shifted as he nervously stepped back, but he quickly gathered his bearings. "Now that's scary. Unfortunately, you're talking to a clone," He said, chuckling after he cleared his throat and shrugged.

"I'm aware. It doesn't mean I can't track you down, though," I said, my expression hardening as I deactivated my menacing presence perk upon noticing several people walking into the waiting area.

"Whelp, you'll have to do it before the trial ends. Good luck with that..." Danton Black said, shrugging his shoulders as he dismissed the clone, causing it to turn into a silver goop buddle that quickly evaporated.

I sighed as I watched him disappear and stood up before walking away before anyone noticed something was off. I still didn't care about Logan. Waller could butcher him and feed him to the pigs, and I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

Still, I needed her to think I cared. As long as Waller thought she had me by the balls, she'd be less prone to act out and bring about another disaster like Brimstone or worse.

"The trial is going to resume soon. Let's see how long I can keep this charade..." I muttered as I checked the time, shrugging my shoulders as I headed for the courtroom.

...

"How did it go, Multiplex...?" Waller asked, turning to face the villain's clone approaching her from behind, giving him a blank look as he stopped in front of her.

"As well as you'd expect. The guy even threatened to kill me..." Multiplex replied, shrugging his shoulders. "It was real scary too, you know? I ought to get a raise, just for that," He went in a mocking tone, to which Waller's expression immediately hardened.

"Oh, excuse me. My bad. I forgot I don't even get paid for this shit," The villain said, rolling his eyes at the task force as he raised his hands in mock surrender.

"That's enough out of you, convict. Get out of here before someone notices you," Waller said, regaining her black expression as she shooed away the villain, and he could oblige with a shrug of his shoulders.

"One of those days, Amanda Waller... one of those days..." Multiplex said, making sure the task force director heard before he dismissed the clone, causing it to disappear.

"And it'll come sooner than you think..." Waller remarked as she watched the clone disappear, her tone cold as she turned away and headed for the courtroom.

Despite the overwhelming evidence against her, the only threat to Waller was Grayson Whitlock. She could make any evidence disappear, same with any witness.

The only thing or person stopping her was Grayson. She attempted to assassinate the witnesses on multiple occasions and failed, and not only because the inmates protected them.

Multiplex clones and her agents got past the prisons' security and the inmates protecting the witnesses more than once. However, Grayson's insectoid machines would pop out of nowhere and take down her operatives every time.

She attempted to erase evidence by sending her agents to destroy it. But the police force was vehement in protecting it, and the damned machines would interfere again whenever she got close.

She tried to bribe and extort the judge, the DA, and the jury members, and they would choose to step aside from the case every time, replaced by someone else, who seemed just as unwilling to work with her.

She didn't know how or why the staff presiding over the case were so stubborn, but she realized Grayson had a part to play in it.

As long as Grayson was there, cutting every sting she tried to pull, she would no doubt lose the trial, her job, reputation, freedom, and possibly her life.

Amanda Waller knew that for a fact.

...

The courtroom

'Time to bring out the big guns...' I mused as I watched the judge resume the trial before asking the district attorney side to bring in their witnesses.

"The people call Dr. Harleen Quinzel," The deputy DA said as he stood, emphasizing Harley's title and the fact she was a doctor, to which the Bailiff promptly headed for the courtroom's exit.

He returned shortly after, walking behind a cuffed Harley Quinn as he escorted her to the witness stand. The crazy blonde had a big grin as she looked around, finally locking eyes with me.

Her grin deepened as she raised her hand to wave at me, but the cuffs got in the way, causing her to pout as he continued walking toward the witness stand.

She sat down and shifted a little to make herself comfortable, and the clerk quickly swore her in and finished the formalities alongside the court reporter.

The judge gestured for the deputy DA to start asking his question, and he promptly stood up and approached the witness stand. "Dr. Harleen, you were one of the few unfortunate men and women to be abducted and enlisted in task force X. Is that statement correct?" The deputy DA asked as he stopped in front of the crazy blonde.

"It sure is," Harley replied, quickly nodding her head at the deputy DA's words.

"Briefly, can you explain how that happened exactly?" The Deputy DA asked, clearly uncomfortable with Harley's leisurely, informal tone, but he quickly got over it.

"Oh, I was just mindin' my business, tryna become a useful member of society and all that when it happened," Harley replied, pausing as she cleared her throat, preparing to explain.

"I went to sleep in my home, then woke up with a bunch of guys smackin' my 'hind area me with cattle rods," Harley said as she made hammering gestures with her hand to emphasize her point.

"Next thin' I know, I found myself in a solitary cell with a killer headache and a scar at the back of my head," Harley continued, scoffing as her expression soured.

"They even had the gall to give me a bald patch! Look!" Harley concluded, sounding incredibly upset as she turned her head and raised her hair, revealing a patch of short hair just above her neck.

"Quite outrageous indeed," The deputy DA said, his eyes twitching as he cleared his throat. "And did you discover what caused such a bald patch and the reason for your sudden abduction...?" He asked, his eyes narrowing.

"They told me they put a bomb in my head an' that I'd have to work for this super secret government if I didn't want my noggin to go splat," The crazy blonde replied, making an explosion gesture with both of her hands.

"And who explained all of that to you, Dr. Harleen...?" The deputy DA asked, crossing his arms as he nodded at the crazy blonde's words, trying his best to ignore her wild body language and gestures.

"It was their boss, some fat old lady with the meanest mug I'd ever seen in all my life," Harley replied, shrugging her shoulders, to which the court reporter staggered and stopped writing before taking a deep breath and resuming.

"Please look around the courtroom, and tell me if you could identify, this woman you've just described among those currently present..."
